Lex wakes up to scratching at his window and ends up with another woman in his bed.

Lex awoke to a soft scratching sound. He reached instinctively for his survival knife, but stopped when he realized his arm was underneath Vanessa's warm blue form. The sound continued and he built a slight charge in case he had to defend them. "Vee," he whispered, not wanting to wake her but feeling a compulsive need to check on the sound.

"Hm?" She stirred, but only buried her face into his neck further when she did. A press of lips to the side of Lex's neck and the woman stilled beside him. Vanessa hadn't heard anything, but she could feel the way his body tensed beside hers. "Down, soldier boy," she murmured, a hand going to his chest and smoothing downward as if the motion would wipe the tension from his muscles. Normally she was a much lighter sleeper. Normally she would have heard the sound. If she were more coherent Vanessa might have worried about that, but it was probably a good thing she wasn't.

Lex didn't speak for a moment. He didn't have to. As she repositioned herself he simply shifted his shoulders so he could see the window. At first he didn't see anything, but after a moment of staring he saw a small four-pawed creature pacing back and forth. It was a cat. In the dim light he couldn't make out anything more, but it was quite apparent that it wanted inside. Petting Vanessa's hair gently, he slipped his arm out from beneath her. "Wait here a moment, I think it's a cat."

Striding over to the window, without waiting for her to respond, he went to investigate. What he found was a small feline with strangely dark hair. As the moon peaked out from behind the clouds he caught a faint glimmer of purple. Purple? What manner of crea--Oh, Lex thought with a faint sense of amusement. He opened the window enough for her to pass underneath. "Hey," he whispered, "I don't exactly know why you're here, but if you disturb her sleep I'm going to take it out on you at Defense class tomorrow."

Vanessa was busy frowning to herself while he was busy talking to the purple cat. Her hand groped around the warm but entirely empty part of the bed where he'd just been. An unhappy little sound followed the realization that he really wasn't in bed anymore. It forced her to wake up enough so that she could crack an eye open and look around for him. "You ditch me for pussy," she asked when she spotted him at the window. "Guys." She shook her head, then pulled the covers up over them because the breeze from outside was damned cold.

What could Lex say to counter her statement, probably nothing that wouldn't dig the hole deeper. At the thought of Vanessa being pissed, Lex closed the window and strode purposefully back to the bed. He sat down on the edge of it and gently stroked her hair, "What need would I have to do that?" he asked with a wry smile, "I've got everything I want here. I just felt it would be rude to leave a student scratching at the window." If Guys were difficult, Women were even worse. He didn't know if Catseye intended to join them in bed, but he wasn't about to encourage her to.

Having the window closed before she could jump in, Catseye let out a loud, plaintive meow and began scratching at the window again.

Tired eyes were about all that poked up out over the top of the blanket. "I meant literal pussy. As in feline. God," her words were interrupted by a yawn, "you're so easy." The meow drew her attention, though, and Vanessa went craning around Lex to see her at the window. "You don't know Cats very well, do you?" At that she crawled out from under the blankets clad in only a tank top and a pair of boyshort panties. "Hey kitten." The words were murmured and mostly mumbled when she got the window back open. Arms were held out for the little purple cat to crawl into if she wanted to. "I know, I know, Casteye is not a kitten. Someone kick you out?"

Catseye leapt gratefully into Vanessa's arms and rubbed her head under the blue woman's chin. Vanessa understood The Way Things Are, and Catseye loved that about her. She purred loudly for a moment or two, then jumped down into the room and shifted into girlform. "Not kicked out no," she answered, making a face, "but Jay is in bed with Warren and last time I napped with them Jay got angry because I told a secret to Warren even though I did not know it was a secret but I think I should not sleep with Jay when Warren is there anymore and I thought I could nap with Lex because this is his room now and now you are here too so can I nap with you both?" She gave the air a sniff and made a sad face. "Except you are doing sex so I should not nap with you right?"

Lex blinked from his seat on the bed. The string of words that came out of Catseye's mouth was almost too much for him to understand. She was standing there, telling him that they'd been having sex, and acting like that made a whole hell of a lot of difference as to whether or not she could stay in his room. It didn't make sense. If they'd been having sex, she probably would have seen--or heard--it from the window. That was beside the point, however, because he didn't understand why she thought to sleep with them in the first place. Then he remembered the nature of her mutation. It took him a moment to piece it all together, and then he sighed. I'm in no way qualified to deal with this, he mused, I may be a teacher, but I'm not a good parental figure. He thought about trying anyway but couldn't find the right words. "Um, Vee... do you want to take this one?"

Those few simple words gave Vanessa the overwhelming feeling that daddy had just handed something over to mommy to explain. God that was bizarre. When did she get old enough to end up in that situation? Fucking hell. Ultimately, though, she just shrugged. "We're not having sex, Cats," she assured the catgirl and slung an arm over her shoulders. She might have scratched the girl behind an ear, too. "There were sex-like things earlier. But we were just sleeping." Shouldn't she have been able to tell that, too? Sleepy didn't have a scent so maybe Catseye was having a perspective thing. "And I don't think you know any secrets Lex doesn't know already. Or that I care if you tell him, so..." Vanessa trailed off and shrugged again. It wasn't like she'd ever had a problem with Catseye staying over before.

Vanessa's head dropped onto the girl's shoulder and she yawned again. Then she raised an eyebrow at her boyfriend by way of asking if he cared whether or not Catseye stayed. Sure, Vanessa could have gone the whole 'he's your teacher so it's inappropriate' route, only Vanessa had been her teacher when the purple house cat was last in her bed, too.

"Sex-like things?" Catseye frowned and her head tilted to the side as she digested this, casually petting Vanessa's head since it was on her shoulder. "Oh! Like touching in special places? But not real sex! Sometimes a couple can touch each other in special places and make sticky smelly things come out of them but it is not real sex if their special parts are not together. I understand!" she announced proudly. "Are you going to keep just sleeping or do sex later? Can I nap with you or do you want me to go away if you are going to do sex later?"

And, realizing the ball had fallen into his court, Lex made a decision. It was probably against the rules, him being a teacher and her a student, but he felt it to be a strangely paternal moment. "You should think of sex-like things as a way to please one another without the carnal experience of sex," he started with an even voice, "It's much more of a bonding experience than anything else. As for the rest of the night, I believe we will be just sleeping--as you put it--and it would be alright if you want to stay here with us. Just don't fall asleep on my face." He looked back towards Vanessa, shrugging his shoulders slightly and smiling. He had the strangest feeling of normalcy, like they were parents comforting their child. It was a strange--but ultimately pleasant--notion.
"It's sleeping time, can we skip the educational analysis?" Vanessa yawned again, then playfully purred at Catseye since it was the catgirl petting the metamorph. A brief tug on the girl's hand and Vanessa was pulling away so she could pad back toward the bed. "I think you're safe from sex and sex-like things for the rest of the night, kitten." Amazingly enough, Vanessa was not a cat gone into heat. She was perfectly capable of keeping things PG. That fact really amazed her some days, though.

Crawling back into bed, Vanessa immediately pulled the covers up over her shoulders. It was cold outside the bed; she didn't care what anyone else said about that.

"I understand," Catseye repeated in response to Lex's explanation, despite Vanessa's desire to skip the educational analysis. "Humans pet each other just like they pet cats because it makes them bond! What is carnal?" she inquired as she crawled into bed between Vanessa and Lex.

Standing at the edge of the bed Lex tilted his head to the side, "It means primal... bestial I guess might be another way to say it." He realized only after he spoke that his speech might be offensive. In order to avoid digging his hole any further he simply sat down and pulled the blanket over the three of them. "But Vee is right. Now is not the time to discuss such things. Let's just sleep and we can talk more over breakfast." That might get him back into his girlfriend's good graces.

Said girlfriend was busy pulling the pillow out from under her head and whacking her boyfriend with it. "You are not allowed to speak anything vaguely educational near me until five p.m.," she decreed and moved to tuck the pillow back under her head, and partially under Catseye's. There were a lot of bodies in this bed. And now Lex was all far away. Vanessa's solution? She slung an arm around Catseye's waist so her hand could rest on her boyfriend's stomach. Well, that was as close as she was getting anyway.

Catseye shifted to catform so there would be a lot less of her coming between Vanessa and Lex. She supposed she could have just slept on Vanessa's other side, but then she wouldn't get the warmth that came from being in the middle. This way, she could curl up by their shoulders but they wouldn't be so far apart. She set to purring loudly, kneading her front paws on the blanket contentedly.

With all of the extra space in the bed now Vanessa shifted closer. A leg hitched up over Lex's hip and she made sure there was enough kitty-sized space between them. A hand even went to stroke down the feline's spine. It was a little scary what passed for normal in the Xavier mansion, but Vanessa didn't really mind.

Six months ago Lex would have run from the room, headed to the bar and knocked back a dozen stiff drinks. Instead, he merely slid closer to Vanessa, letting his hand rest gently on her hip. The fact that Catseye had changed from girl form was not lost on him and he smiled contentedly. It still felt scarily like parents and their child, but he wasn't going to say any more. He kissed Vanessa on the forehead and then closed his eyes. "As you command," he yawned, and then slipped back into a pleasant slumber.
