Catseye meets the mansion's newest resident and feral, and offers to take her hunting as long as BigCat does not try to attack her.
Catseye scented Laura approaching from her position in the treehouse before she saw the new girl, and the hair on the back of her neck stood up as she scented the feral. Being a metamorph rather than a feral, Catseye's instincts were immediately on guard around ferals. But Laura had seemed nice enough on the journals so the catgirl was certain she would have nothing to be afraid of.
The housecat jumped out of the treehouse and landed on Laura's shoulders with her usual wailed warcry that translated to FlyingCatDeathFromAbove!
"Awesome of you to join us, Miss Purple Cat." Laura smiled at Catseye, she had sensed the cat a while ago as well, so she actually put herself in the correct position to support the cat without hurting her. "Do you always jump over new people? It's quite a nice way to make someone feel welcomed. I'm touched~"
Catseye licked Laura's nose with her rough tongue and wriggled out of her arms, shifting into girlform on the ground. "I only jump on new people when I think they will be fun. Or scary." Catseye thought for a second. "I jump on new people a lot of the time. I am glad you like it. Did you smell me coming?"
Laura giggled at the contact of the tongue, placing her hand over her face once the cat jumped. "I feel so fortunate of being the new one around then." She took a moment to consider if she was fun or scary, and decided there was no way in hell she could be scary, at least without trying. "I did smell you from a distance, but I was curious to see what would happen. The flying cat part, I didn't not expect it, actually. Nice touch."
"Thank you," Catseye nodded, preening a little. "You have claws yes? Can I see your claws?"
Laura raised her hands. "Nothing over here, nothing over there...but wait!" Balling her hands, the four claws popped with the typical 'snikt!'. "And I have one of each foot as well, but I love this shoes, so you'd understand if I don't show you."
"Those are very nice claws," Catseye praised, poking one of her own clawed nails at Laura's claws. "You only have one on each foot? That is funny. Strange funny, not laughing funny," she clarified. She stared down at Laura's feet to try to visualize where the claw would come out, but frowned in confusion. "Loving shoes is funny too." Most ferals she knew- even herself- hated shoes. "I think shoes are ickybad."
Her smile only grew bigger at the praise on her claws; she really liked them as well, even when she wasn't sure what she could use them for. Besides cutting things, of course. And people, but she didn't imagine herself beheading someone...that was something that Logan looked like very capable of doing though. "Well, my claws just decided to pop out very recently, so I lived most of my life without needing to care about them; I think I'll make an habit of wearing sandals from now on, but I love my shoes~" She then proceeded to remove one, using her other feet, since her hands weren't too useful with the claws out. She then removed the sock -she seriously needed to start using sandals-, exposing her foot. Raising her leg a little, Laura unsheathed the claw there. "It's like a super secret hidden weapon thing, don't you think?"
"Yesyesyes it is veryverynice!" Catseye exclaimed, impressed. "You could kill deer with your claws veryverygood, I would like to have claws like yours. Do you have teeth like a hunter too?"
Sheathing all her claws at once, Laura proceeded to get her foot on her sock and shoe, grinning at the deer compliment. "Killing a deer sounds like a good way to practise. As for the teeth..." Laura opened her mouth wide for a moment. "My teeth are pretty normal, save these two sharp babies, but nah, no fangs for me." She didn't mention that fangs would totally ruin her looks. Looking at Catseye, she realized that Kyle's mention of ferals being different among them was certainly true. "Are you like Kyle and can't eat chocolate? I'm sincerely sorry for him."
"No I can eat chocolate," Catseye informed her with a grin. "I am a metamorph a genetic metamorph so I am not the same as a feral. I do not know why they are different," she confessed to Laura with a shrug. "Maybe it is because my human body is human except for my tail and my nails being like claws and my good smell and hearing and not liking clothes and eyesight and healing. But those are just little things and mostly my human body is like other humans. If I do not change to a cat for a whole month I will bleed like a human female because my human insides are human. So my human stomach is human. Except you are a feral and you must like chocolate if you say you are sorry for Kyle so does that mean that ferals can have human insides too? Maybe Kyle is the one who is different for a feral?" Now she had gone and confused herself.
Holy mother of...she talks a lot; I think I love her! Her thoughts were externalized for a wide grin as she listened. "Well, then it makes sense you don't have...limitations, since you change entirely. I think that ferals are part animal, part people? It might be that Kyle is more animal than me? Does that sound like an insult? I mean, if I'm a feral, then I'm part animal, but in my case it's not obvious, like, at all. I eat chocolate and everything and never get sick so I guess you can't speak for all the ferals. And I don't think Pops has any issue with food so...yeah." She was a little confused now.
"Oh yesyesyes I think Kyle is more part animal than you so that is why he cannot eat chocolate I understand!" the catgirl nodded emphatically. "And yes your animal parts are not obvious like Kyle's you do not have pointy ears. Do you have a tail like me?" she inquired, waving her tail for emphasis. It didn't look like Laura had a tail, but maybe it was wrapped around her leg like it was hiding.
Laura had to make an effort not to laugh; while she had been told several times she had quite a tail, the girl doubted that was the kind of tail her new friend was talking about.
"Check for yourself", said as she rotated on her spot. "No tail, no sharp nails, no pointy ears, no face hair, thanks God about that one; I think I got only the less obvious characteristics, huh?" She kinda liked Catseye's tail though; besides incredibly cute, it could be pretty damn useful as well.
"Yesyes you look like a girl. But you smelled me so you must be a little bit of a hunter? I think we should find out how good a hunter you are! Do you want to hunt deer with me?" the catgirl asked hopefully.
"Oh, I would love to try to hunt a deer!" It would probably turn into something bloody is she did get to hunt a deer, but she decided it was a part of everything. It also sounded too tempting to just reject. "But how are you going to hunt? With the big cat form you talked about?"
Catseye nodded. "BigCat yesyes. BigCat is a cougar. BigCat usually listens to me but sometimes new people and sometimes ferals make BigCat think of being in danger from another predator so BigCat might growl at you but just talk and talk and BigCat will understand you are a friend," she warned Laura matter-of-factly. "If BigCat tries to hurt you you should hurt me with your claws okay? Because BigCat hurting friends is not okay. But if you are scared I do not have to be BigCat," she added.
Laura shrugged, a teasing smile on her face. "Bring on the Big Cat, let's see how well I manage. I can get a couple of scratches if that's what it takes to earn respect." And she could always run like crazy if shit hit the fan and she found herself without a chance to make it in one piece. That would suck.
Nodding, Catseye shifted into BigCat, shirt and shorts disappearing and morphing into the collar that Forge had fashioned for her. The purple cougar sniffed the air liberally as Catseye put up her usual fight with the overwhelming animal instincts of the larger feline. BigCat took a step towards Laura, body low and every muscle alert, tail swishing. She was concentrating very hard. The mouth opened to bear large, sharp teeth, and a low growl rumbled from her throat as she realized she was staring at another predator.
The cougar was a sight to behold. How could someone so bubbly and innocent keep such a ferocious shape? She considered freezing for a moment, but decided otherwise, the idea of losing an arm wasn't a really nice idea. "Hey kitten." Despite the wariness, Laura's voice came natural and relaxed; she was feeling getting less concerned as she spoke. "Grandma...why do you have such big teeth? And I think you picked the wrong hair dye too."
The cougar cocked her head, confused. She sniffed at the air around Laura, smelling mansion smells and predator smells and listening to the unafraid, casual voice. And at the word 'hair dye' Catseye's humanity corralled the baser animal instincts and put her higher faculties back in control of the cougar. The cat made a chuffing noise and butted her head against Laura's side, tongue lolling like a dog's.
Laughing a little, Laura attempted to pat the cougar. "Nice, I really didn't want to wrestle with a big purple cougar; maybe some other day, but not today." She had even felt the change on the cougar's actions; it seemed a lot more in control, and Catseye seemed to be the one calling the shots. "So, are there really deers here? I mean, the woods look pretty damn big, so I wouldn't be surprised to find some large animals around."
The cougar purred in response to the patting and nodded her big head to answer the question. She circled around Laura and headbutted her back end to get her moving, then loped ahead to lead the way to the hunt.
The headbutt only made her giggle a little more; this was one impatient cougar "Alright, here we go then; just make sure we don't run into a bear or something."
Catseye scented Laura approaching from her position in the treehouse before she saw the new girl, and the hair on the back of her neck stood up as she scented the feral.
