Kurt and Catseye - in the medlab

Catseye tries to visit Nick but is headed off by Kurt, who tries to make her understand why thwapping him right now might not be the best idea, and then lets her in on a little secret.

Tail lashing, Catseye paced outside of the closed door to Nick's room in the medlab. "Nick!" she called out, knocking three times. "Nick! Nick! It is Catseye I need to come in and talk to you! Are you sleeping?"

The door opened, but it wasn't Nick on the other side. Kurt made a hushing motion, glancing back into the room before he stepped out and shut the door. "Yes, he is sleeping. Please do not wake him yet."

The catgirl took a step forward to try to get around Kurt and open the door. "I will not wake him I will just nap and be silent like a mousey."

He moved, subtly, into her way. "I know you would do your very best, but I think he would know you were there. Remember, he has a wolf's nose."

"Yes you are right but that is okay I will just tell him to go back to sleep," she told Kurt with a determined nod.

Kurt smiled at her determination, but didn't move. "Give it just a few hours, Catseye, and then you can talk to him all you wish. A few hours of uninterrupted rest would be the best thing for him, hm?"

"How come you can be in his room with him but I cannot?" Catseye asked, trying not to whine when she asked the question.

"A fair question", Kurt said with a nod. "And the difference is in our relationships with him. He would want to wake up to spend time with you, I think, much more than he would for me."

"Because we are a couple?" She tilted her head in thought. "But I will not do sex with him, I promise!"

"I did not think you would", Kurt said solemnly. "I am more concerned that Nick will not want to go back to sleep if you are there at all, no matter how much you tell him to."

Catseye made a face as she thought this over, then preened a little, running a hand through her hair. "He does like me veryvery much," she admitted. "And he did a very stupid thing and he will probably want to talk and I want to talk to him and then he will not sleep. You are right I should not go nap with him now. I should wait until he can go back to his room because then he will be healed enough that he does not need to sleep all the time?"

"That might be the best idea", he agreed. "I do not think it will be long - he was not very badly hurt."

"Okay," she nodded. "I will wait to thrash him for being sillystupid and running away when he is better. And I will try not to thrash him so much he needs to go back to the medlab."
Kurt laughed. "I am sure everyone concerned will appreciate that. Keep the claws in, yes?"

"Yes I will try. And Mister Kurt I think you are wrong I think Nick wants to spend time with you. Nick likes you veryverymuch. And so do I."
That got a pleased - and touched - smile, and he reached to ruffle her hair. "I am glad to hear it. Can you keep a secret?"

"I can if I know it is a secret before someone tells me," she nodded.

"Then until I announce it to everyone, this is a secret." He leaned up to speak in her ear. "I am going to be Nick's father. Legally."

"You can be Nick's fatherperson? Really? Can you be mine too? Because I do not think I like the one I have now."

"Not in the same way", Kurt said regretfully. "You are over eighteen, so you cannot be adopted now. But unofficially, if you like... of course I can."

"Okay! I would like that. Except not for real because if Nick is your boy and I am your girl then we are brother and sister and we could not be a couple and I like being a couple with Nick," she pointed out with a nod. "I think you will be a very good fatherperson for Nick."

That got a contented smile. "I certainly hope so."
