Kurt and Logan, Sunday
Mar. 7th, 2010 12:17 pmKurt and Logan meet in the gym and a challenge is laid.
Logan was really not having a good couple of weeks. Kid he didn't know about, getting a chunk of his past dropped on his lap, and the weather being too pissy for going out on his bike. But out of all of it it was the medical data he'd got off that thumbdrive that drove him the craziest.
So he was blowing off steam in one of the few ways he still had left. Besides, pummelling the heavy bag and the speed bag was practically de rigeur. He hadn't bothered to tape his hands, of course, and each time the flesh split it knit itself back together in moments.
He welcomed the pain. At least that was all his. Something he could control.
He wasn't alone with it for all that long before there was a sudden burst of air and smoke and sulphurous smell, somewhere near the ceiling, and Kurt appeared on his favourite trapeze. "Hello, Logan."
Logan coughed and waved a bloody hand in front of his face. "Elf." he said, even more brusquely than usual, and then gave the heavy bag a few more vicious shots. "Been a while."
"It has", Kurt agreed easily. "And I am glad to see you back, especially if you are well. Have you been working out long today?"
"Think I started right after breakfast." he said with a shrug. Of course, it was now easily late into the afternoon. "I'm outta the loop. Anything going on I need to know about?"
"Today? Probably not." He shrugged slightly in turn. "In general, the usual arrivals and departures, often involving the same people in a short space of time."
"Same old shit, huh?" he said with a grimace. "Nothing really changes." he said, shrugging. "People come. People go. But hey. This bag shit's getting old. You sold on working the trapeze, or you want to try something a little different?" he asked with a gleam in his eye.
"I am always interested in a little variation", Kurt told him with an intrigued tilt of his head, and began making his way to floor level. "What do you have in mind?"
"Tag." he said. "Lay off the 'ports, just use your agility and speed." he suggested. "Nothing rough, just a little something different to keep things interesting." he suggested.
"That sounds like great fun." He grinned. "Inside, or out in the woods?"
"Inside. Can't make it too easy for you." he suggested. Give Kurt a wide-open space and you'd never come anywhere near him. Confine him and maybe he'd have a shot at it.
"Then inside it shall be." He glanced down at his leg a little ruefully. "My speed is not quite what it was, but I should still provide a challenge."
"Someone bust you up?" he asked as he stepped away from the heavy bag. "Makes my job a little easier, then."
"Magneto. Or my dear mother, or perhaps both. I was never quite sure who was responsible, but the leg is a little stiff. I manage well enough."
"Damn. Need to take my head out of the report on the butchery that made me once in a while. Start paying attention." he said with a shrug. "Need to stretch or are you good?" he asked.
"I warmed up in my room before I arrived", Kurt told him. "I am good to go now, as they say." He bounced a little on the balls of his feet in unconscious demonstration.
Logan grinned and lunged for Kurt, looking to get an early tag in before the man could get his enhanced agility into gear.
Kurt leapt away from him immediately, making a dash for the climbing bars mounted on the wall.
Logan was hot on his heels, trying to tag the elf before he moved the distance enough to get his agility into play.
"Not that easy, my friend", Kurt told him over his shoulder, laughing as he dropped and rolled with his own momentum, below Logan's reach.
He was out of position against someone who had significantly more grace than he'd ever possess. This did not bode well. "Yeah, yeah. Talk's cheap, elf." he said with the faint beginnings of a grin. But he tried to stay within hailing distance of Kurt, kept forcing him to move.
Kurt was quite happy to keep moving, for now - he was still only 33, after all, and had good stamina. He swarmed up the bars easily, glancing over at the rope next to them.
Logan, if not a student of la parkour in particular, was at least familiar with the principles. He scrambled up the bars like he was part monkey, heading straight for Kurt.
"Very good!" Kurt praised, then jumped over the bars and wrapped himself around the rope in another bid for escape.
Logan took the expedient route - he just jumped and made sure he gave the rope a kiss of adamantium on the way down. Gravity was a cruel mistress and they'd already agreed on no teleporting.
Kurt yelped as he found himself falling, then let go of the rope and tried to twist himself to best take the fall.
"Ain't falling a bitch?" he said with a grin just before he hit the ground. He landed on his feet, flexing his legs to take the brunt of the impact. And as soon as he did hit he reached over to tag Kurt.
Kurt had almost managed to fall like a cat, but the distance hadn't been far enough to do it properly. He hadn't moved out of Logan's arm span in time, and groaned good-humouredly as he was tagged.
"Score one for me." he said with a grin. "Guess now I'm the hunted and you're the hunter." he said, skipping backwards and then trying to put as much distance between himself and the Amazing Nightcrawler as he could.
"I was right, this is fun." He grinned back and set happily to the pursuit.
