After retrieving Meggan from the Hellfire Club, Kurt does his best to comfort her.

As they arrived back in her own suite, Kurt made sure to steady Meggan on her feet - and even then, seemed a little reluctant to let go of her shoulder, as though she might disappear if he took his hand off her.

"All is well, meine kleine. You are safe now."

That was what she needed to hear. Meggan quickly turned to Kurt, and hugged him as tight as she could right now, what with still being on the shaky side. “I heard you…when you said Miss Frost wasn’t dead. I heard you.” she whispered in his ear, voice wavering. She just felt like she had to let him know that he hadn’t just been talking to the supernatural equivalent of a brick wall. She’d at least heard him when he told Selene that she hadn’t killed Miss Frost.

Meggan held on tightly to Kurt for a moment longer, reluctant to let him go from the hug, trying to calm down after everything and not ruin his clothes with a good long sob. That’d be the exhaustion, and relief and complete and utter terror bleeding through. “I’m so sorry.

"Oh, Meggan." He patted her hair, soothingly. "I am so glad you heard me, I wanted you to know Miss Frost would be fine. And you were a victim here, little sister, you did nothing to be sorry for."

She nodded, pulling back just a little. “I know, but I’m still sorry. I just…those dreams. They were awful, and at first I thought they were nothing or just me stressed about stuff. By the time they seemed like something, I was suddenly thinking they weren’t important. And then I wasn’t acting like me anymore. And I knew that, but I couldn’t make myself tell anyone, and it all went downhill so fast.

And she was crying a bit now. She didn’t think she was making much sense, but it was the best way to describe how she’d felt. She just really felt like if she had told someone, nobody would have gotten hurt. Even if that couldn’t be true, even if she'd been able to fight harder than she had. She couldn’t have told anyone, not with Selene using her like that.

"The only thing you did wrong", he said firmly, "was in not telling someone about the dreams, when it first began - and as you have said, there were simple explanations available for those, so I understand why you did not. You could not have fought her with the strongest will in the world, you do understand that?"

Meggan nodded, taking a deep breath. “I think so. Yes. And if my dreams ever go that dark again, I’ll tell someone. I’ll run straight to you or Amanda.” She fervently hoped her dreams were never like that again. Her voice wasn't shaking as much as it had before, at least.

She swiped at the remaining tears with one hand, before realizing she was still wearing Selene’s gloves. She hurriedly started to pull them off, and tossed them on the bed.

Kurt reached over quietly and took them, stuffing them in his pocket. "I will destroy those for you", he promised. "As for the dreams... I do not think she will ever bother you again so. But if they do come back, yes, please."

“Thank you,” Meggan whispered. When she changed into something less revealing, she would give him the rest. The only good thing about those gloves was that her fingerprints weren’t all over that museum.

She glanced down at the costume for just a moment as a terrifying thought struck her, before looking back up. “Kurt. How did that man—Klar—know my exact size? The fitting’s perfect. He had it waiting.”

"I suspect Selene could reach him somehow", was all Kurt could offer. "Such a loyal follower...she may well have forged some kind of connection with him. And if she had you in mind..."

Meggan wrinkled her nose, not able to help the flash of disgust. “Makes sense, I guess.” She was still terrified, but slightly calmer as she got things straight in her head. “She got him to burn my dress right after she changed into this...in front of him.” She hoped Kurt would get that Selene had paraded her body around in front of Klar without actually having to say it. She was just talking to finally get it all out, after being controlled for so long.

She continued, “She started digging through my head. And because it was Amanda that gave me that monkey bracelet, that got tossed into the fire, too. She made sure I knew that.” She had loved that bracelet. It wasn’t the most important thing in the world, or the worst thing Selene had done when using her body, but it was still upsetting. She shrugged.

“As a last resort or something she shifted my hair to what worked for her, and then did a magical thing to it. It’s stuck for now…unless there’s a strong enough hair dye on the planet?” Ruefully said, with a wavering smile and a mix of hope. She was struggling for normality.

"Perhaps Amanda can undo it", Kurt suggested, considering it as important as anything else, but making an effort to smile back. "Or Jimaine, even, now. As for what happened, and the bracelet... I am sorry we could not reach you sooner."

“I’ll ask later.” Meggan shook her head at his last comment, though. “I don’t know if anyone could have gotten there sooner. You couldn’t have known.” Then she glanced at him again, this time in puzzlement as another memory surfaced. “And Kurt? Were you reading Treasure Island to me at one point? That part’s fuzzy, but I think I heard something of it.”

"When we were in the offices", he said with a brief faint smile. "I thought it might give you some comfort, at least."

She nodded, before going over to hug him again. “Thank you. I think it did. When it managed to get through her, anyway.” It probably wasn’t her imagination that Selene hadn’t been happy with Kurt for trying to help.

"It had her quite annoyed." He couldn't help a grin, though it faded as he looked down at her head, hugging her back. "Meggan, I have to ask you something, and forgive me for making you think of it, but it is important... did Selene allow Klar to... touch you?"

“No,” Meggan said firmly. After a moment of thought, she looked up at Kurt, adding a bit more quietly, “He didn’t do that, she didn’t try that…although she thought about it. But no. He just looked. A lot…but I had the feeling she may have promised him something…eventually.” She shook her head at that, sickened by the whole situation. “When she was through with me.”

Kurt's arms tightened around her at that. "You will never see him again, I promise you that. Whatever happens, never again."

Good. That’s good. Thank you.” Meggan was perfectly fine with that arrangement, since Klar scared her to death. She hoped she would have kicked Klar in a very sensitive location at least a few times, if she had been in control. If he had tried anything.

"It will be my pleasure to make sure of it." He glanced around the room, then back at her. "And now, little sister, you need to get some rest."

Meggan nodded in agreement. Even after what she’d been through, she didn’t think she would be having any nightmares tonight. She was just too sleepy after all the crying, high emotions, and remaining tiredness from the possession. “You’re right.”

A moment, before she added with a rueful smile, “And I’ll talk to Catseye and Nick soon. I think she could tell something was off with me, especially in study hall toward the end. I think Selene pulled my strings just enough that Nick probably thinks I hate him.” And, of course, she would talk to Miss Frost, once the other woman was feeling up to it. She wanted to see how she was doing with her own eyes.

She gestured to the outfit she was still wearing and nodded before he could say anything. “I know. I’ll get changed out of this first, before I fall over.”

"I will wait", he decided. "And take that... thing... away for good. I will talk to people on your behalf, if you would like - but only with your permission."

She considered the offer for a moment, before deciding, “I’ll probably end up talking to most of them myself, but thank you.” She turned to go change, before pausing with a small smile. “You can tell people if you need to. It’s okay.”

In the end, it didn’t even take three minutes to get out of that thing, and into her own comfortable pajamas. That’s how desperate she was to be rid of it—and how little there was to be rid of. Meggan thought at one point that at least there weren’t any hidden pockets to conceal weapons to hurt people. There wouldn’t be room for either weapons or pockets, for one thing. When she came back out, she immediately handed it all over to Kurt.

“Here you go. Fishnets, boots, skimpy corset thing, scraped up cape…and a teeny tiny thing that might have been an extra strap to hold it all together.” And that was being generous. Or maybe it was something else, she really didn’t know. She didn't know about that kind of fashion.

"I will have a bonfire", Kurt declared. "And if the boots will not burn, perhaps I will just take them through my teleportation place and drop them on the way."

She nodded from where she had seated herself on the side of the bed. Not seeing that bonfire for herself was fine, so long as it was taken care of. And as for the boots? “If those boots won’t burn, then that’s probably the only way to get rid of them. And I’m saying this a lot tonight, but I don’t care—thank you. For everything.” That, and ‘I’m sorry’ were going to be getting a lot of mileage over the next few days.

"You do not have to thank me, but it is good to hear you able to say it." He smiled, hooking his tail around the pile of "clothes", and stepped to the side of the bed. "Now, sleep. I can stay until you do."

“Okay,” she replied as she scooted over, reaching her pillow, and starting to pull up the cover. It wouldn’t be very long before she started to drift off, too, now that the adrenaline was wearing off. She had really missed normal sleep. She looked up at him one more time. "Good night."

"Good night, Meggan." He reached over to tuck the covers around her, as he had when she was still the little elf-girl the clan had adopted. "And sweet dreams."
