D&D: A Fight
May. 22nd, 2010 08:05 pmAn argument breaks out between Julian and Nick as they search for the Dragon's Lair.
"You're wrong, you asshat!" Julian yelled as he adjusted his footing on the steep path. "You're always wrong, so how about you just leave the navigating to someone who has a brain, okay?"
"Oh, and I'm sure that a peabrain can always do a better job at tracking than someone with heightened senses!" The werewolf was screaming on his toes. "Or is being stubborn just another one of your powers?"
"Hey, you wanna go, Gleason?! Because I'll take you on anywhere, real-world or not." A dim green-ish glow appeared around Julian's left hand as his right found its resting place on the pommel of his very-much-real sword. "Besides it's not tracking, it's navigating. What, are you tracking the dragon through the mountains? Nerd."
"Remember last time we fought? I'm surprised you still don't have to sit on a hemorrhoid pad in classes." The wolf sneered back. Being in a full animal form helped him to keep control, more of his human side was present in his wolf form. But the arguing was still enough to cause the fur to stand up on the back of his neck. "And you can navigate all you want. It still doesn't change the fact that you couldn't navigate out of a hat."
"The only reason you even touched me last time at all was because my back was turned." Julian flushed slightly and drew his blade a quarter of an inch, calling up the memory of the fencing lessons he'd been privilege to in his youth. "Come on Bigby- let's see what you've got."
"Julian, Nick's name is Nick not Bigby," Catseye snapped, stepping fluidly in between the two boys without a second thought to her safety. "I do not know why you are calling him the name Bigby but it sounds like you are doing it to be mean and that is not good. Nick, you are not going to fight Julian, ever. Stop being silly-stupid." She yanked on his arm, pulling him out of earshot of Nico and Julian. "Remember the last time you hurt someone from the mansion?" she prompted gently. "You felt veryveryverybad, for days and days and days. And if you hurt Julian you will feel bad after you do it. I know you will. So no fighting. We are on the same team," she added, turning to face Julian and raising her voice. "Julian you are an X-Man. You should act like one and not be a sillystupid boy who fights with his own team because he is scared about being lost and about not being the boss of this world the way he is usually the boss of his world but does not want to show he is scared so he acts mean to people who want to help everybody instead. We need to be a team and work together or I will thwapp you all!" she added calmly.
Nico was also already in front of Julian, one hand on the hilt of the boy's very real sword, the other on her chest. "She has a point Julian; fighting here and now is only going to stall us. Well, fighting between us anytime is a bad thing, but for now maybe we should just stick to our priorities." And she was giving him a very convincing pleading look.
After a moment of hesitation, Julian nodded, "Fine." He gave final look at Gleason and turned away, heading down the path along the mountainside.
"Fine." Nick added back, quickly reaching down to wrap his clawed hand around Catseyes. He was in control of himself again as he began stomping after Julian, but he wanted to support of the cat-girl to make sure it stayed that way.
