On his way back with Amara's drink Lex is stolen by his girlfriend, sort of.

Sure, he'd invited his girlfriend. Technically, he'd made no specifications about what, or who, she wore. It was Amara's birthday so Vanessa had chosen to show up wearing Daniel. Daniel and Amara got along very well, after all, and Vanessa had thought that the cute, sometimes flustered and very adorably blushing blonde ought to dance with him on her birthday. The metamorph hadn't found Amara yet, but Lex was another story.

Grinning in a way that came off entirely cocky and a bit like Daniel was on the prowl, the tall Peruvian made his way through the crowd carefully. Silver was crowded, but the shapeshifter managed to get up behind Lex and slip a noticeably masculine arm around the shorter man's waist. "Hola, señor, did you not come to dance?"

"Shit." With two drinks in his hands Lex couldn't defend himself from the man who'd grappled him from behind. It was a rookie mistake, and then he felt the way the muscles tensed and realized who it was. And he had just been telling Amara that the only way to get him to dance was get him drunk or have Vee show up. With two rounds of whiskey in his hand and Vee around his waist he had everything he needed. "Actually, I came to visit friends," he replied wittily when he regained his composure.

"No, señor, a person does not come to a place like this to visit." Daniel had an incredibly amused expression on his face, particularly from Lex's initial reaction. Leaning down a little until lips grazed the shell of the other man's ear, Daniel whispered, "Is the soldier afraid? Is this the true reason you are a former soldier? Scared to dance?" Really, how could a person possibly pass up the chance to mock? Or to let one's incredibly heterosexual boyfriend end up with a male hand drifting downward from his belt buckle.

"You know I'm all for private dance parties," Lex was trying hard to play it cool. If anyone were watching the exchange they would see a man grinding against him and they would probably misinterpret everything about the situation. Especially since he hadn't jumped at the opportunity to dance with Amara like everyone else had. "Now, if you want me to cooperate you'll have to let me set these drinks down first." He motioned towards the table where Amara's water bottle rested. He wondered if she had slipped back to the dance floor while he was getting them drinks.

"I could find the birthday girl to dance with instead," Daniel offered in a very reasonable tone. "She and I get along very. She always becomes the most interesting shades of pink and red when I am about." Daniel's hand stopped moving just above his goal and the arm around Lex fell away. "Should you attempt to run I shall have to spend my with the birthday girl instead, no?"

"That you could," Lex whispered back softly, "but we both know that I have what you want." He slid out of Daniel's grasp and then turned towards him. "I don't plan on going anywhere without you." He spoke a little louder and gave his girlfriend a devilish wink. He could play along if it made Vee happy.

The ability to play along brought a smile to Daniel's face, but not so much as the willingness to play along did. A lot of men wouldn't have. In fact, a lot of men would have had that instantaneous reaction that equated to a resounding hell no. Lex didn't and that bought him a lot of points with Vanessa. "We shall see, señor, if you are truly the only one with what I want or no."

Not one to let a challenge pass by him, Lex scoffed. "We shall indeed." He moved in, as if to kiss Daniel on the lips, and then slid past his cheek to his ear. "If I'm not then we might have to rethink the foundation of our little duo." He let out a sensuous breath before pulling away sharply and marching in the opposite direction. That, Lex thought wryly, took a lot out of me. Maybe if I see Vee more often in her other forms it will feel more natural.

Whether or not Lex would survive Vanessa's little bout of mischief remained to be seen, but for now there was hope for him. Daniel's head tilted to the side to watch Lex walk away. You had to hand Lex that, he gave a decent view when he walked away. Daniel didn't move until Lex had gone and set the drinks in his hands down. Personally, there was no belief that those drinks would be there when he returned or that anyone should touch them if they were left alone either. Lex would be better off, probably on all fronts, if he drank them both.

Standing over the drinks, a sullen look on his face, Lex realized that Amara had disappeared into the dance floor again. Alone, with no one to watch them, the drinks would quickly be taken or drugged. At least, that is the excuse Lex made before discreetly downing both of them. The truth was he didn't know if Vee was going to make him actually kiss Daniel, and he was unsure how ready he was to make out with a man's form, even if he knew that Vee was deep inside it. He looked into one of the many mirrors in the place, when in Rome, eh? He turned back towards Daniel, a proud smile plastered on his face, and waved with as much enthusiasm as he could muster.

Inwardly, Vanessa was shaking her head at him. It was the smile that did it. He tried very hard for that smile and she could tell. Lex was doomed to fail but he'd go down swinging. Vanessa knew that and that was what kept the smile on Daniel's face. Daniel's smile, however, was a mix of charm, flirtation and purely dirty thoughts. Vanessa had no fantasies about fucking her boyfriend as a man, but she had plenty about him fucking her and those were what caused that expression on Daniel's face. A nod toward the dance floor and a hand stretched out to the poor, misguided soul crazy enough to date Vanessa.

She's not fooled, he thought, not displeased. At least that means I won't have to fuck her as a man tonight. As much as he wanted to boast that he was alright with fucking her in any form she could take, Lex knew that he would always prefer her as her beautiful blue self. The others were for her to decide, but he would always prefer the feminine selves to the masculine one. With a mild inclination of his own head, he followed Daniel onto the dance floor and hoped that no one was judging him for what he was about to do.

Smug. Daniel looked so entirely smug. How many guys got a mostly sober straight man to dance with them at Silver, after all? In the middle of the floor Daniel turned, regarding Lex curiously. He began to move to the music slowly, something it would have been a genuine effort for Vanessa to cease, and leaned down to speak into Lex's ear. "You can back out, soldier boy." The words were Vanessa's but the accent was still Daniel's. "I can always flirt with the lovely señorita Aquilla."

"If, and only if, that is what you wish. I may be uncomfortable, but I can see that it pleases you." He moved with Daniel's body, trying to take the lead away from him to assert his masculinity once more. He may not be the best dancer but he knew how to be a man.

A hand slid up into Lex's hair and Daniel continued to speak into Lex's ear. "It amuses me, mi amor. If I were pleased then I should be much harder than I am this moment." It was precisely because Lex wasn't much of a dancer that he didn't make much headway on taking away the lead from Daniel. Vanessa loved dancing enough and had been a man often enough that she could move even in a male form.

"Though I grant you a certain number of points for admitting you're uncomfortable, you lose most of them for going along anyway." Daniel's hand slid out of Lex's hair and he took a step back from him.

"You win some and you lose some. I'll make sure to keep your points in mind when I get in trouble next." He gave Daniel a devilish grin and proceeded to wander back over to the bar. Fuck, he thought, realizing he'd just gotten schooled, I need a drink.

Daniel let Lex go and turned his eyes to the crowd. Being so tall made it easy to see over most heads. The density of the crowd, however, made finding the blonde he sought more difficult, however.

After leaving Lex to his comfort zone, Daniel seeks out his very favorite blonde.

It took some scouring and some weaving in and out of the crowd before Daniel managed to find the woman he was looking for. One day it was possible that Vanessa would say more than two words to the young woman and see her for more than five seconds while wearing her own body. Today obviously was not that day. Besides, Daniel was incredibly fond of the blonde.

Amara seemed to be without any of her friends for the moment so Daniel took advantage of her being alone and slid up behind her. An arm looped around Amara's waist, loose enough that she could escape but tight enough for it to be an obviously intentional move. Leaning down a half foot or so, his Peruvian accent spoke directly into the birthday girl's ear. "¡Feliz cumpleaños, señorita!" There was something imminently playful in Daniel's voice, but there was also that seemingly ever present hint of flirtation.

Amara was startled by the sudden appearance of an arm around her waist, glancing around and then relaxing when she recognized the voice and the face. "Obrigado, senhor. I did not expect to see you here tonight." Amara could not help but smile in response, turning her head enough so she could look at him.

"Am I a pleasant surprise?" A small laugh followed the question. How one could take themselves seriously when issuing such a query was a little hard to grasp. With his brown eyes locked onto her gaze, Daniel's head bent to place a soft - and rather chaste - kiss atop her shoulder. As with all things when Daniel was around Amara, the kiss was rather playful in nature.

"Of course," Amara replied, breaking his gaze and turning her head back to look at the crowd while she blushed. Thankfully it was too dark for anyone to truly notice, but it wasn't too hard to guess that she was. "But I think you expected that. You do like to appear in the most surprising of places."

The fact that she broke eye contact was more telling than any evidence of blushing would have been. There was something so completely satisfying about making her squirm this way. Maybe it was because Amara came off as being so innocent, so pure. That meant, of course, that there was a line that would never be crossed or pushed. It also meant , however, that these little attempts to make her flush scarlet would likely never cease to be endearing.

"Perhaps," Daniel spoke into her as softly as possible while being heard, "I only appear when you are present."

"Truly?" Amara murmured back with a teasing note in her voice. "Perhaps then you are only a figment of my imagination. I should see someone about that, should I not?"

In a somewhat offended tone Daniel returned, "You would be rid of me, señorita? I am hurt." Daniel seemed very hurt as well, what with the way he kept dancing with her through their exchange.

"I am terribly sorry," Amara bantered back, not believing him for a second. "But who knows what sort of trouble you could get me in to. I do not know if we could have that."

A wicked little smile played across Daniel's lips. "Are you so certain you would not enjoy the trouble to which I would bring you?"

"But trouble by definition is not supposed to be enjoyable," she said with a little bit of a laugh. "And perhaps I prefer a more quiet life."

"No one prefers life to always be quiet," Daniel insisted as he turned them both to prohibit another man's approach from reaching the blonde.

"Not always," Amara conceded with a smile, letting Daniel take the lead. "But I think you may be a little bit more trouble than I am accustomed to." She looked up at him again. "Not that I don't appreciate your occasional appearances."

"Perhaps you over estimate my levels of trouble and under estimate my ability to be quiet, no?" As the song came to an end Daniel's arm around the young woman relaxed, though it did not fall away just yet. "I should allow you to get back to celebrating with friends, no?"

"Perhaps I do," she admitted. "But that remains to be seen, does it not?" She glanced over to her friends, and they all hastily looked away from the pair.

"I think my friends are dying to ask me about you." She smiled, and leant up to kiss Daniel on the cheek. "Thank you for the dance, senhor. And for your presence here tonight."

The kiss earned her quite a more genuine smile than she usually saw on the Peruvian's face. "You are quite welcome, mi dulce. I live to serve, as you know." With another playfully flirtatious smile, Daniel gave Amara a small bow and raised her hand to brush a kiss across her knuckles. He then backed away from her and let the dancing crowd pull him back into their grasp.
