Backdated to June 16th. Meggan goes to check on Kurt after hearing about Nick, and offers what little comfort she can.

Once Meggan heard the news that Nick had definitely gone missing, and there was a chance he was killed in the battle at the senior graduation, she had gone in search of Kurt. She wasn’t surprised that he was just staying his room right now, and she didn’t think he would want to be dragged out. Still, she wanted to at least try to be there for her brother, if she were let in. If it helped even just a tiny amount, it would be worth it.

Knocking softly, she took a breath before she called, “Kurt? It’s Meggan--can I come in?”

For her, Kurt opened the door without hesitation, looking not unexpectedly sleep-deprived and grieving, and reached to hug her before she was even into the room. "Of course, Meggan."

Meggan hugged back just that little bit tighter, murmuring, “Came as soon as I heard.” It would be a waste of breath to say she knew how he felt—it really didn’t need saying anyway. She pulled back slightly to get a better look at him, before asking, “Anything I can do? Anything at all?”

"Unless you suddenly count tracking among your abilities", he said quietly, "I think you are doing the only thing that comes to mind. Thank you for coming."

She shook her head at the first, confirming that was something she couldn’t do. “You’re welcome.” With a hint of worry, she asked with one arm still around him, “Do you want me to just...stay a little while? Until you can get some rest?” She just didn’t want to see him fall over in exhaustion, out cold in the middle of a sentence after too many hours spent awake and upset.

"That would be very welcome", he said with a faint smile. "I have been sleeping a little, but it has not been easy to achieve. Too many bad possibilities."

There was no way Meggan was leaving him right now. She could always rub his arm if he seemed overly distressed from a particularly nasty dream, or just lay beside him for a while. “In that case, maybe you could try again?” she stepped carefully around a currently sleeping Triscuit, before sitting on the bed. “I’ll stay. And I promise I’ll wake you if your dreams take a bad turn.” Or if he got noisy, Triscuit might jump him before she could, but the results would be the same.

Kurt nodded, stepping over to sit down on the bed in turn. "All right, then, baby sister. Sometimes it is even better with someone here."

“Yeah,” she agreed with a small smile. “Let’s get you as comfortable as you can get, then.” She gave him another hug, and a quick peck on the cheek before gently nudging him to encourage him to lay down. She crawled over to the other side, ready to keep watch over him.

He lay back obediently and pulled the blanket over himself and Meggan, as Triscuit roused himself to scramble up onto the bed and join the two siblings, evidently deciding he was being left out. It wasn't all that long before the exhaustion caught up with him.
