Log: Nico and Megan
Jul. 8th, 2010 09:25 pmMegan peered over a pile of clear plastic tubs and piles of fabric scraps that formed a short wall between her side of the room and Nico's. Her roommate was over there somewhere. Megan began picking through a pile of fabric. There were small pieces of silk with Chinese floral print woven in gold-colored thread, there was a half-finished plaid thing, there were several colors of tulle... They had rummaged through it all before.
"Hey Nico, want to work on some crafts? I have some ideas for projects but I think I want to get some new supplies."
Nico was at the other side, fingers moving quickly over a sketch of a night dress she had had on her mind for a while now. It was going to be...black? Nico felt like making something different, but she was scared of ending up with something horrible if it wasn't gothy can dark. Hm, she needed to think about it.
Lifting her head, she looked in the general direction her friend's voice came. It was awesome how two artsy people had had the luck to get into the same room; she didn't know if someone else would stand her pieces of cloth thrown around, and she was entirely fine with Megan's doings. "Sure, what have you thought about? And supplies would be appreciated. I might need some extra fabric for this idea I have in mind."
"So I'm thinking for my next pair of shoes... I want to try to replace the outside fabric with something cool. Or maybe just sew it on top of the canvas. I also need to get another pair of shoes to do this experiment on, but since I'm tearing them apart anyway they don't have to be pretty or new or anything." She went over to her marker box, which was lying open on her bed, and picked out some colors that she had in mind. "And I just like to look at art supplies," she added cheerfully.
"Sounds interesting; do you have an idea of the color scheme?" Leaving her sketch for a moment, Nico walked to her closet; if they were to go out, she was in need of a wardrobe change right away; she was grinning as well. "I know what you mean, I could spend hours looking at sewing machines and at silk and Kashmir and...oh, don't get me started."
"I normally do a lot of purple and black. My favorite color combo, right? But I was just doing some doodles and I really want to do this dusty purple/sage green combination." She picked up her spiral-bound sketchbook and pointed it towards Nico so she could see the wide marker strokes in the desired colors. "Or maybe this plum and rose combo with some lace or something for texture." She flipped a page. "Actually I was drawing these because I was thinking of dying my hair again. I normally bleach it but it's all natural pink now and I want to do something different."
Nico's head peered out of the closet as she checked the color patterns. "Huh, interesting. I'm thinking on doing a dress. Formal stuff." A beat. "White." Yep, it sounded even weirder out loud. Nico's head vanished as she kept on changing clothes -for being such an artsy couple of girls sharing a room, Nico was always pretty mindful of not going half naked around Megan- and kept on hearing. The hair bit caught her attention. "So you are leaving that lovely shade of pink?" No harm on poking, right?
"White?" Megan was taken aback for a second. "Ooo... that will look so beautiful with your skin tone and dark hair. But what is it for? And yeah..." she blushed a bit. "I am sort of sick of the pink. I've never left it natural for this long before and it's sort of bugging me." She felt slightly embarrassed for wanting to change her looks, but it wasn't to try to hide her mutant appearance anymore at least.
The sound of Nico tripping and hitting her head with the closet was pretty audible. And so the 'Ow!' Nico then pretty much jumped out of the closet, shirtless and with black fitting jeans, her pale skin covered by a simple black bra. Her face was pretty damn red though, and the black shirt she was holding had been momentarily forgotten. "I didn't-- Never said--- I mean--" She took a moment to breathe. "I didn't say I would use it myself...and I wouldn't know where to begin with. But it never hurts to experiment with colors, right?" She managed to overcome the blush and be more supportive towards her friend. "Hey, it's totally cool. I've thought about getting rid of the black hair a number of times...but really, blonde Asian-looking Goths are seriously emo."
"Oh? White as in... wedding?" She grinned slyly, showing that she was kidding. Nico was so flustered, Megan was intrigued. Something seriously had to be going on, though she wasn't sure what and "wedding" was just a juvenile jest, the first thing that came to mind.
Megan earned herself a face for that statement; something between disgust and utter rejection. Towards the statement, not her. "Marriage? Yuk; I've stood my mother teasing me with potential Korean know-it-alls from most of my early teens." She still was a teenager, but that was not the point. "So marriage is like a big, big no on my far future plans. A white dress always looks classy though...right?" Maybe she wanted to be classy for Julian, maybe she was just curious.
"I can't really image you being a traditional Korean bride and housewife," Megan admitted, smiling. "And I stand by my statement that you'd look great in white. Julian is gonna have a heart attack if he sees you in a nice dress. In a good way, I mean. Sometimes I wish I had a boyfriend to impress! Oh well."
Initial embarrassment dealt with, Nico put the shirt on, because really, manners. "I guess it would be quite the change of look." And she would need to tone down her make up, too. Big changes. "Still, I need to make it first." She went back to the closet to pick a pair of comfortable and obviously black shoes. "Well, let's get you a boyfriend then! I'm sure that someone in this mansion sees you with more interest than the friendly one." Because Megan was as lovable as they got, and if Nico weren't in a relationship...and straight...huh, I don't seem to be able to finish this sentence. "We can try at least."
"Hmmm... could you ask around, stealthily? Don't make me seem too desperate, haha," said Megan, turning red, knowing that Nico had way more tact than she herself did. She looked around for her cupcake sneakers and gathered up her notebook and supplies to take with her on their craft supplies journey.
Nico nodded with a grin. "I'll see what I can do." And she was already thinking on who could she start bothering to find out if there was interest for Megan in the mansion. She had to wonder, what did people thought of others that wasn't disclosed? Even the people that usually wrote a lot of things on the journals kept stuff for themselves. It was a little exciting. "Ready then? I guess we'll be taking the bus or something."
"Ready! Yay bus. I really need to start taking the driver's ed classes." As the girls headed off campus, Megan wondered who, if anyone, Nico would turn up as harboring a secret interest in her. There were certainly plenty of cute mutant boys at the school...
