After calling her parents, Cammie seeks out her 'older brother' and gets a birthday surprise.

Cammie had already called her parents; they sort of expected her to now whether or not she felt like it. It was her birthday, so she could humor them for that, even if it was just another day for her. Well, she tried to make it just another day.

It was just too close to the anniversary of the Dance of Death for her to really want to celebrate it. She closed the cellphone with a click and a sigh. She loved her parents but there were some things they'd just never get.

She actually wanted company for a change. But not roommate company. Oh no, she didn't want to spend time around Miss Sunshine today.

She wandered, but it wasn't aimless, as she ended up opening the door to Kurt's suite and sticking her head in, "Anyone home? If not I'm going back to bed until tomorrow."

"No, you are not", Kurt said firmly. "Not today. I was just about to come and find you."

"Well, haha, I beat you to it," Cammie said a bit dryly. Only a bit, she was actually fond of Kurt. It curbed the sarcasm a bit, "So I guess that means I win. What's my prize?"

"A meal out!" he announced cheerfully. "But not in a restaurant. As going to my family would be difficult, some of my extended family - I regret not my brother and sister - have come to us."

"Oh? Who came?" she said, coming in all the way and shutting the door, "I mean, it's sort of weird thinking anyone is here for me."

"Various cousins, mostly", he said with a shrug. "Many of the grandmothers are too old for such long travel, and for that I think perhaps you will be grateful. They do tend to fuss."

"Yeah, the less fussing the better," Cammie said. They must've been there more for him than her, she was hardly someone worth celebrating, at least that's what it felt like today, but she'd admit to it being too close to a certain date for her to be completely clear headed about that.

"I'm bad with the fussing."

"As I thought." Kurt grinned. "So we will get out of the city, to a certain place where we have acquired a licence to gather and light a fire, and we will eat together. I have told them about you."

"You told them about me and they still want to meet me? You have the craziest family," Cammie noted. It wasn't a 'no' or a 'I don't want to go.'

"That, my dear, is putting it mildly." He glanced over her clothes. "You do not have to dress up, either."

"Good, because I like this jacket," and the jeans, most of her clothes were new after the stint she went without powers. But there was stuff she had saved from getting incinerated, the jacket was among them. Other than that it was just jeans and a t-shirt. Today the t-shirt wasn't even that offensive, simply saying Words on a Shirt. But the jacket... the jacket was armor. The jacket also hid the bandages on her arm. It was comfort clothing. Armor.

"Are you ready, then?" Kurt said cheerfully. "It will have to be teleporting, I am afraid, but I think those clothes have suffered worse."

"I'm ready," Cammie said, "The teleporting doesn't bug me at all," anymore, anyway. It wasn't the smell that made her woozy, she could handle that, it was the sudden dislocation that got to her the first time. She could take it now though.

The only response to that was a pleased smile and an extended hand.

Cammie grinned wryly and took that hand. She didn't trust very many people, but she trusted Kurt. It was odd to think of how that happened, but she couldn't imagine not trusting him now.
