Julian and Nico walk through the foyer when the ex-scion notices a letter in his mailbox...a rare event.
Backdated to November 10th, 2010 @ 10:55AM due to the plot runner's brains being eaten by zombies.
If someone asked Nico, she didn't need any excuse to walk around with her boyfriend. Why would she, anyway? It wasn't as if they had kept it hidden -Nico hadn't advertised it to the whole mansion, but said bunch of people already knew, so-, so it was perfectly fine to walk, hold hands, make out...and the rest they could get a room. Julian's room, actually, since Nico had no intention to ruin Megan's evening. Or youth.
"This is nice", suddenly said as they walked in silence. "But if we don't do something fun soon I'm going to grab whatever movie I find and head to the Rec Room." Her threats...they weren't all that menacing, really.
"Well, what did you have in mind?" Julian asked with his typical rakish grin and a squeeze of her hand. It was clear what he had in mind in the way of entertainment, but was open to other ideas as well.
She bumped him, although it was a half-hearted attempt to throw him off. "I don't know, maybe grab something to eat, get comfy somewhere...and watch a movie?" Well, it wasn't as if the idea had just appeared in her mind. "Or...", and there was her little evil smile. "We could skip steps one and three, and just get comfy somewhere."
Julian smiled and stopped in midstep, pulling Nico close to him and wrapping his arms around her- it had been nice having another warm body in bed at night and it had certainly made them closer. "Now that sounds like an idea," Julian said, closing his eyes and leaning in to plant a kiss on his girlfriend's lips.
"I'm known for my very good ideas, thank you." Once Nico had managed to put herself together, she had been ridiculously needed of affection, and if it was from Julian all the better. His patience with her lately difficult behavior had only managed to make her love him more. She leaned, too, closing the distance faster, as her hands moved up his back, eyes closed as she allowed herself to drift a little from the definitely grim thoughts that still haunted her.
"Come on, let's go back to my room and 'listen to some music.'" Julian smirked and led her by the hand toward the foyer, as they passed the mailboxes a strange sight caught his eye. There was something in his cuby-hole along the wall, "Wait, what the heck?" Quickly heading over to the rack of boxes and baskets, Julian grabbed the letter, which has dirty and stained with no return address. "I never get mail."
Nico shrugged, half expecting to get over with the subject fast enough. "Who under the fourth decade ever gets mail?" Because she hadn't gotten mail since...since that time her parents sent her a letter for her birthday. It had been an awesomely cute detail, and Nico was repressing it right now, yes. "Anyway", said as she leaned towards the letter. "Who's sending it?"
Julian tore into the envelope quickly, letting go of Nico's hand. After a quick scan he found the need to reread it, a bit more carefully. "It's not signed."
"And what does it say?", asked the girl, since she knew better than to pry into other people's mail, as outdated as it was to even think about mail. "I mean, you should be able to figure what's the whole deal about even if you don't know who's sending it, right?"
"It's jibberish. I mean, it's for me, but...." Julian shrugged, "I have no idea what it's saying. It's like it's in some sort of code."
"Hm." Nico didn't press on the subject, as she realized this was one of these situations where the other side of the conversation wasn't really going to let go of much more information. Maybe it was from his parents? Or from his brother, even. Nico didn't know, and supposed she would find out whenever she needed to. "Well, if it's not important, I guess we should get going? You could let me try to see if I get the meaning of the jibberish?"
Julian refolded the letter and headed turned back to Nico, trying to forget about it as he put it back in his mailbox. "Come on," he held out his hand, "let's get to bed," he smirked and gave a small wink as the word bed passed his lips.
Nico gave him a soft hit on the ribs. "Dude, what happened to the idea of listening to music? Tell you what, the one that arrives first tells what do we do." And with that she set off on a short spring, turning to see if her idea had been accepted or what.
It took a moment for the young man to realize what was happening and he hurried to chase after her, the cryptic message quickly forgotten. "Hey, no fair, who said you get a head start!"
