Wade arrives at the mansion and Laurie stumbles upon him (not literally), then drags him off to find out where his room is.

Laurie whistled to herself as she juggled her cup of tea with the series of books she'd just taken out of the library. She intended to do some study while she ate her lunch before she had to go back to classes. It was the best thing about going to University at Westchester U, being close enough that she could pop back to the mansion for lunch during her 'all day' classes.

She came to a stop as she saw the man standing in the main foyer, a rather attractive man at that. She wondered if he were just here to see someone, or if he was going to be a resident. "Um, hello?"

Turning on his heel as the sound of footsteps grew closer, Wade wound up facing the lovely young woman who seemed to be juggling multiple items of varying import. "Hi," he said, giving her one of his more charming smiles. "I'm Wade and I'm hopelessly lost. Help me, very pretty lady, you're my only hope."

"Star wars references?" Laurie asked with a grin, and a small amount of blushing, she couldn't help it! He was just that cute. "You'll fit right in, just watch out for the mad scientist and his coffee maker of doom. Are you looking for someone in particular? Or are you moving in?

"Option B!" Wade was glad the lady knew what was what, at least. He'd turned up with his pack over one shoulder and that was it - he traveled light. "But I don't know where I'm going or how to get there, so maybe I can worry about the coffeemaker of doom later. I'll keep an eye out for the mad scientists, though. I like to avoid them whenever possible."

"He's actually a pretty friendly mad scientist when you get to know him," Laurie noted, gesturing for Wade to follow her. She'd have to check up on the main notice board to make sure of where the man was going to be staying. Room assignments were normally posted at the start of the school year, and most people knew to check there in case of changes. "What's your name, by the by? I'm Laurie."

"Wilson. There's a Winston in there, too. My parents were big on the alliteration thing and now people think I'm the internet when I initial stuff," Wade said, following along behind Laurie after hefting his pack up again. "Need help carrying your pile of books?" It was like she had half the library in one arm and the Godforsaken Queen's cuppa in the other hand.

"Hmm, do you prefer Wilson or Winston or something else?" Laurie asked, stopping to hand him her books, she'd never been one to refuse help. "So, powers issues, running from something or just an old friend of the Professors?"

"I'm not old enough to be an old friend of the Professor's - no offense, but that guy's ancient." Wade accepted the books without a pause. "And really, the name's Wade, but I said that when I was asking the very pretty lady for help - did my dazzling smile and obvious charm make you forget?"

Laurie blinked for a moment, and then realised that she had, in fact, completely missed him giving her his name. She blushed again, a little bit harder this time and covered it with a brilliant smile. "Sorry, I'm a bit scatter-brained right now. Kyle would say it's the 'Laurie's had to change her schedule crazypants week' if he was here. I'm not all that great with change, you see."

"That's a great color on you," Wade decided, making it one of his new personal goals to make lovely lady Laurie blush as often as was humanly possible.

"And you are such a liar," Laurie noted with a laugh. "I look absolutely frightful when I blush, all blotchey."

She took a look on the cork board that hung in the main hallway and moved her finger down the list of rooms till she saw Wade's name. "Looks like you're up on the third floor."

"Excellent, stairs," Wade said, waggling his eyebrows a bit. "I don't lie, lovely Laurie. At least not about the important things, like blushing and you."

"And here I thought Eamon was an outrageous flatterer," Laurie replied, shaking her head but her smile was brilliant. "Come on, I'll take you up to your room, and then we can give you the whistle stop tour."

"Eamon?" Wade's eyebrows rose a little as he measured his steps to Laurie's. "Is this somebody I'm gonna have to compete with for your affections? I don't like competing for affection - I usually lose."

"My boyfriend," Laurie said, her smile turning into a somewhat silly grin as she thought about him. "I think he's in Ireland right now, I haven't really heard from him this week."

"Damn," Wade said. "Definitely gonna have to cut my losses and run, I guess." He grinned anyway, though. "Lead on - I guess I should see about getting all my stuff arranged in a drawer or a closet or something." And then he'd be heading for the shooting range he'd been promised because that trans-Atlantic flight had him all kinds of twitchy for his gun.

"Just call me a heart breaker," Laurie said with a wink, walking toward the stairs. "Come on, loverboy, maybe I can introduce you to some single ladies."
