Nico and Sarah meet outside to break some stuff, just as promised.

Backdated to March 9th.

Sarah stood around the entrance to the school, having just arrived there in anticipation of meeting up with Nico. Having had a long talk with her sister, who was upset by yet another argument between their parents, she had a wicked urge to smash something, which reminded her of her chat with Nico on the journals, and now they were meeting up for just that reason.

Unfortunately, Sarah did not have a staff of any sort, let alone a magical, self-embedded one. So on her way out she grabbed a broom that she saw poking out of a closet on impulse. She was just realizing how ridiculous she probably looked but she needed something, didn't she? It was all pretty new to her, hopefully Nico could help her figure out how to do this, exactly.

If somewhere were to ask Nico about the fine art of smashing things to bit with a staff, she would probably laugh her ass off, because honestly, it was a pretty darn simple process. Still, it had transpired on Sarah's mail that she needed some stress relief, so the Goth was going to make her best attempt to be helpful. Luckily for Sarah, Nico had a pretty excellent idea of how to help her to destroy things without incurring in property damage. Perks of being magical, she supposed.

"Hey!", called as she reached the door. "I see you have equipped yourself already, good! Just make sure the broom is sturdy enough, because breaking it might cause us trouble later." Nico was totally confident she could repair it, though. "So, did you have an idea of what kind of things you want to smash? Or just whatever that gets in your hitting range?"

Looking up at the sound of someone calling out, Sarah smiled a little at waved at Nico. "Hey, I did. Kinda." She shook the broom back and forth a bit. It felt a little on the flimsy side to her but she'd just have to work with what she had. "I'll be careful, I'm not that strong anyway." Tucking some hair back behind one ear with her free hand, Sarah shrugged at the question. "I dunno, I've never really done this before." Even though it was her bright idea to suggest it, whoops. She looked around for something innocent, harmless, and of course non-sentient to whack while trying to think of something specific. "Are there, like, weeds around? Or something?"

Scanning the grounds from where they stood, Nico decided it would be unfair to go and try to beat a tree into submission. Catseye had already gotten angry at her for doing that once, and even if the purple haired girl wasn't around anymore, the lesson was well learned for Nico. Don't screw with nature. "Nah, I have a better idea. When blood is shed, let the Staff of One emerge." As the Staff came out of her chest, Nico wondered if Sarah would ask her about the phrase, and the fact she hadn't cut herself or anything to summon the Staff of One. She sort of hoped she didn't, because the explanation would be...embarrassing. Holding the staff for her to see it for a moment, Nico grinned. "The best of the best on smashing things' technology. Now..." Focusing, Nico thought of the best way to put her command into words.

"Eh...Old Fragile Stuff", said with a bit of a giggled as she waved the Staff of One, a large gray haze coming out of it and expanding in front of the main entrance, where it suddenly solidified into a number of old, brittle looking furniture. Chairs, lamps, a couple of sofas, and other easily breakable stuff. "There, I think we can smash this all to our hearts' content."

Sarah watched in rapt fascination as the Staff of One emerged. If she hadn't been so wide eyed at the display of power, she might have listened more carefully to Nico's words and asked about the phrasing, but she didn't catch it this time. "Wow." She looked down at the broom in her hands again, then back to the Staff of One. Yup, hers was better. "How do you put it back?" She shook her head as soon as she'd asked, maybe that was something she didn't want to know. "Sorry. It's very nice!" That's what one said to someone about their staff, wasn't it?

Once again Sarah paid the strictest of attention as Nico uttered another spell. And then there was all kinds of old furniture and things of that nature, just ripe for a smackdown. "Holy crap, that's awesome." Sarah reached toward one of the nearest chairs, tentatively touching it to confirm it was real. Smiling, she looked back at Nico. "You've done this before, I take it."

Nico still wasn't sure she liked the way reacted to the staff. The magically adept people, so far, acted like she was holding a poisonous snake with every intention to throw it at them. Regular people, so to speak, were most of the time kind of charmed. She wasn't going to tell Sarah that the Staff of One was actually an evil thing and that it was most likely part of a bigger plot to end the world, no, but she couldn't force herself to be all 'yeah, this is my awesome staff', so she shrugged a little. "No big deal, and once I stop using it the thing just plunges into my chest again."

Walking closer to an old looking chair, Nico poked it with the staff. "I can only do a spell once with the Staff of One. Summoning old furniture doesn't sound like something I might regret not having kept for later, though." She gave Sarah a bright smile. "So, want to break some stuff? It will all fade once the spell ends, so don't worry about left overs and what not."

It just wasn't something you saw every day, even at a place like Xavier's. Sarah's eyes remained wide, especially at the mention of it plunging back into her chest when she was done with it. She was tempted to ask if it hurt but she was starting to come to her senses and realized she was asking some personal questions, and it was best to stop that line of questioning.

Sarah frowned a little at Nico's explanation. "Just once only?" That seemed a little odd to her but she had no idea how magic like that worked. It was still pretty amazing though, definitely more impressive than what she could do. "Sure, let's do it!" She paused, not quite sure how to commence the activity, or how to use the broom like that. After a second or two she raised it over her head and tentatively swung it down on a nearby couch. Dust bloomed up from the pillow she smacked, causing her to cough almost immediately and making her eyes water. "Gah!"

"Just once, sure, but keep in mind, I can do anything I want with this thing." She sounded a bit proud of it, and hated herself for it the moment the words were out of her mouth, but she couldn't help it; she was in possession of a ridiculously powerful magic artifact, after all.

Without another word, Nico joined the random destruction by slamming the staff against a lamp, glass and wood and bits of wood being sent all over the place, and then turned to attack the sofa Sarah had targeted, a growing smile on her face. "C'mon, this is fun!"

It was ridiculously powerful indeed! Sarah shook her head, smiling, trying to wrap her head around that but failing. "That's so cool." Even if it did have to store itself inside of her, apparently, that was still an awesome gift to have. Of course she didn't know anything about the darker side of things but still, it sure seemed to beat her own powers.

In the meantime, however, they had things to beat the crap out of, which was also awesome. Coughing a few more times, Sarah raised the broom once again and smashed it down on the sofa again, this time bringing up much less dust since the first attack had sent the majority of it airborne. "It is, totally, thanks!" A few more whacks and then she struck one of the other tables, which produced a nice, loud thwack of wood-on-wood, much more satisfying than the previous broom-on-cushion strikes.
