Backdated to March 10th. A series of scenelets with Doug and Jubilee.
Jubilee stood before Doug's apartment door in flannel pjs and bright yellow duckie slippers, clutching a bottle of wine and two glasses in one hand and a bucket of KFC under her arm on the other side. She pondered her predicament for a moment and then brought a foot forward to kick against his door, a grin playing across her lips, never let it be said she wasn't resourceful in the face of adversity.
Doug blinked. It was late, he wasn't expecting anyone... He got up from the couch where he was poking about on the Internet, and went to the door. He looked through the peephole, then opened it. "Since when do you come to the door and not the window by the fire escape?" he asked with a chuckle.
Jubilee shrugged and shoved the bottle of wine and glasses at him before getting a better handle on the bucket of KFC. "Dude, it's freezing out there, and duckie slippers are not the type of footwear you want to be sneaky in. I mean, yeah, sure I could be sneaky in them but there's such a thing as style, ya know?"
Doug snorted. "You've got -some- kind of style, that's for sure." He shook his head. The pajamas and slippers were about as un-stylish as it came. But the idea of spending the evening in comfortable clothes with a friend was appealing. He reached out and hooked a finger behind the waistband of her pajama pants. "C'mon," he said, dropping a kiss on her cheek.
---
It was a good thing he'd brought the food with him, Doug decided as he took in the bare state of Jubilee's cupboards. It was also a good thing that he knew where her spare key was, and what sorts of little safeguards she kept on her apartment. Setting off a silent alarm while trying to make a nice surprise for a friend would have been embarrassing.
"Should I kiss the cook?" Jubilee whispered in his ear as her arms came around him from behind. She'd had to stand on her tiptoes to do it, being much shorter but she didn't mind going to extra lengths for sufficient dramatic effect.
She'd moved soundlessly from the fire escape outside her apartment into her living room and across into the kitchen in a matter of moments when she'd seen him moving around inside.
Doug was almost startled, but given that he was expecting some sort of 'I so sneaky' one-upmanship out of Jubilee, a brief start was all the reaction that she got. "Do you not even use your own front door, or did you put something new in that I missed that told you I was here?" he asked amusedly, running a hand along her forearm.
"A girl never plants security devices and tells," Jubilee murmured, stepping down from on tippy toe and resting her forehead against his back. "That smells delicious by the way, what are you making?"
"Chicken, rice, vegetables. With some kind of chipotle marinade I picked up at the Trader Joe's." It was rather disgustingly domestic feeling, but a welcome distraction from the realities of their jobs. "If you ask me 'how was your day at the office, sweetie,' I may vomit," he noted.

Several familiar red envelopes lay out across Doug's coffee table, the latest offerings from Netflix. "So, what'll it be?" he asked Jubilee as they both reclined on the couch.
Jubilee slung her legs up, pushing her toes under Doug's legs to keep them warm as she pondered his question. "I'm partial to watching Tangled."
Animated, light-hearted, not a stereotypical 'chick flick'... "Sounds good to me," Doug said. He chuckled at Jubilee's noise of protest when her toes were evicted from their warm spot as he got up to put the movie in the player. "I don't have telekinesis, so I kind of have to get up if we're going to watch the movie," he pointed out.
"Obviously the only response to that is that you should develop a secondary mutation quick smart, dude," Jubilee noted, curling her toes into the couch as he pushed the DVD into the player. Her low body fat percentage always made her more susceptible to the cold, and the weather hadn't yet completely warmed with the advent of Spring.
Doug chuckled. "I'll get right on that, Jubes."

"So, a little birdy has been wondering when you were going to ask me on an actual date," Jubilee noted, swinging her legs from her seat on Doug's desk in the Snow Valley server room.
She was in her usual courier attire for city runs, be socked feet a testament to the fact that she'd been in rollerblades for most of the day, out and about around the city.
"Wait, what?" Doug stopped completely a few feet into the room. He closed the door to give them both some privacy, and to buy himself some time to think. Now that he thought back on it, he realized that he and Jubilee had spent the night together in one of their apartments every night for the past...two weeks, at least. And it hadn't even been just sex every night, either. The truth was, he'd kind of fallen into a habit, but... "I wasn't sure if that was what you wanted or not," he said. He hadn't wanted to push things, but had just been enjoying her company.
"I suppose that depends, dude. I'm not like, possessive girl or anything but I'm told gettin' the guy to take you out to places where you have to wear actual nice clothing and they don't serve curly fries is a good indication that they respect your personness beyond a quick roll in the hay," Jubilee noted, raising an eyebrow at him. "See, the thing is, I'm a complete commitmentphobe. So, I like you and I like...whatever this is, so maybe if we just snuck up on the whole thing all suave-like, I won't like, set you on fire or somethin'. Sound good to you?"
Part of the reason that Doug hadn't pushed the issue was that he knew about Jubilee's hesitance when it came to commitment. So he'd been content to let her set the boundaries of their...well, even if they hadn't been dating, it was still a relationship, he decided. "Sounds just fine to me," he said with a smile. "You might not have noticed, but I kinda like you too. And I like...this." They didn't really need to put a name to it, so long as they both were happy. "How about tonight?" he asked.
"What sort of date?" Jubilee asked, swinging her legs again, her hands gripping the edge of the desk as she did so. "I'm like, wanting of the fancy clothing, dude. None of this 'lets go sit in the car in the dark' stuff."
She could feel the unease curling within, and she knew it was making her snappy and forceful. It took an effort of will to school her features into a politely blank mask, and she worked on getting her hands and legs to stop their nervous fidgeting.
"I have plenty of fancy clothing," Doug told Jubilee with a wink. "Remember who I hang out with on a regular basis?" He could see the beginnings of the panic reaction on her face, so he worked to keep things light. "Well, certainly dinner at a very swanky place should be involved. I know some places..."
"Right, well then, tonight!" she said brightly, jumping off the desk and heading around him toward the door. She paused for a moment, and then headed back to give him a quick kiss on the mouth before dashing out the door and toward more safer pursuits, like trailing Ninjas, or threatening Remy with a haircut.
