Now, this was new.

Rahne lifted her head from where she'd been curled up by a window in wolf form; there was a food smell on its way down the corridor outside, and along with it a person whose scent she wasn't used to. Maybe the new... Mr. Dayspring... no, he'd told Doug not to call him that.

She trotted to the doorway and looked out as he approached. Yes, that could be him. She whuffed softly.

Nathan nearly dropped both the sandwich and bottle of water at the sight of a dog--no, a wolf looking at him from the doorway. Not a wolf either, he thought, stopping and cautiously assessing the impressions he was getting. "Hello," he said finally, a bit warily.

Rahne wagged her tail, remembering belatedly that this probably did seem a *little* odd, and carefully shifted part of the way back, enough to talk, and leaned on the doorframe. "Sorry, I didna mean to startle you. I'm Rahne Sinclair... Mr. Dayspring?"

"Nathan, please," Nathan said, unable to help a faint smile.

Rahne smiled back tentatively, if perhaps with more teeth than she really meant to. "Nathan then. I should remember not to come up to people as a wolf, I think."

Nathan felt his smile grow a little and turn wry. "It must be fascinating," he said, leaning against the wall beside him, just in case his knees started to get wobbly on him. "How different the world must look when you're a wolf."

"It does. Though instead of *not* seeing colours I think I'm seeing *different* ones." She ducked her head slightly. "Last time I startled someone as a wolf 'twas Ms. Blaire, though, and she near blinded me. Thanks for, ah... not?"

Nathan shrugged. "I knew someone was there. You didn't actually surprise me--well, I was surprised to see that you were a wolf."

"So was I the first time." Rahne shook her head slightly and added with a tiny hint of mischief, "...I do wash up before I cook, just so ye know."

"Good to know," he said with a straight face. He glanced down at the sandwich. "Not much of a cook myself. But Moira has this bad habit of either forgetting to eat or continually putting it off, so I thought I'd make sure she had something today, at least."

"Aye, that's good -- I suppose I shouldna keep ye then."

"Yeah," Nathan said lightly, straightening again. "I need to make it down there and back before I topple over again." He smiled again, this time more naturally. "If the offer of oatmeal is still open, though, I might take you up on it one of these mornings."

"Aye, sure, any time." Rahne looked a bit wistfully down the direction he'd be going. "...Take care then."

"You too," Nathan said and continued to make his careful way towards the elevator. Nice girl, he thought vaguely as he went.

Rahne left the doorway after a little while and curled up as a wolf again.
