After the events of Cathouse Jubilee crawls into Doug's bed, looking for comfort.

Jubilee slipped quietly into Doug's apartment via the front door, the lock having been the work of moments for someone with her skill set. She didn't stop by the fridge like she normally might, or sit on his couch and watch late night infomercials. Her presence in his flat was a lot more focussed then that, and she moved directly into his bedroom.

She stood in the door for a moment, watching the outline of Doug's figure on the bed, her hip pressed against the doorframe and a pensive expression dwelling briefly in her eyes.

"Doug," she said, keeping her tone level so as not to startle. She didn't feel like playing any games tonight, and it wasn't just because of the ache in her knee that was still healing.

Doug came awake quickly, but without the level of 'fight or flight' panic that he had when Jubilee had broken in to drip water on him. "Jubes?" he asked, clearing the remnants of sleep from his eyes. He cocked his head, taking in her body language. "What's up?" he asked, keeping his tone purposely casual.

"Can I sleep here tonight?" she asked, keeping the desperate need from her voice, but only just. She straightened her stance, and moved to the edge of the bed, but stopped there. She didn't want to make assumptions, not right now. "Just sleep, that is."

Doug sensed that there was a fair amount lurking under the surface of Jubilee's words, but he knew that prodding about it wasn't a productive path, that she would tell him things when she felt comfortable and if she felt like he should know about them. Dating the firecracker was a bit of a minefield at times, but still rewarding and it made him happy. "Of course. You don't really need to ask," he reassured her, pulling back a corner of the covers and rolling to face her with arms invitingly parted.

Jubilee didn't need a second invitation, scrambling onto the bed and into his arms in almost a single movement, her face pressed against his neck as she breathed him in. She simply stayed like that for a moment, allowing muscles that had been tense for what seemed like forever slowly relax, even though it had only really been a week.

She breathed there for a time, each breath let out on a small sigh, her hands pressed lightly against Doug's back as she waited for words to come.

"I'm not sorry," she finally said, lips moving against his skin as she spoke.

She wasn't, they did what they did because they had to, and regret was simply wasted energy. Still, her subconscious way of dealing with the events was to kick up old nightmares. She hadn't dreamt of the soldier in years, or of the shocked look in his eyes. He'd been trained well, but even the best training didn't expect a young girl with the power to kill at her fingertips.

Doug stroked her hair, gently and soothingly, letting her press herself against him in a way that had everything to do with the simple need for human contact, and very little sexual to it. "If it was necessary, there's nothing to be sorry for," he told her, intentionally not pushing as to what precisely she was not sorry for.

He didn't always deal well with not knowing things, but he also recognized by now when to ask and when not to.

"Someone's going to have to help me redye my hair," Jubilee noted after awhile, unwilling to say more, at least for now.

Doug grinned. "I dunno, I kinda like it." The blonde pixie cut was definitely jarring against Jubilee's Asian features, but at the same time it suited her somehow. He ran his fingers through it gently, brushing them soothingly against the nape of Jubilee's neck.

"Really?" Jubilee asked, lifting her head from his shoulder to give him a quizzical look. "I mean, I suppose I could get like, a proper dye-job done on it, but like, it's blonde. I really look good as a blonde?"

A shrug from the shoulder not currently occupied was Doug's reply. "I dunno, maybe I'm biased. But you're never going to be...I'd say subtle, but that would come across bad. I mean, it's unusual, and kinda brassy. Like you."

Jubilee grinned at him, reaching forward to give him a quick kiss. "It stays then, I'll go see my hairdresser guy on the weekend. Blue contacts are totally coming out though, they like, seriously dry out my eyes."

Doug snuggled close, stealing another kiss from her. "Mostly, it's your face and hair and everything to do whatever you want with. So long as you like it, I'm content."
