Jubilee's turn to check on Amanda, this time with Chinese food and extra work.

They'd all been pulling long hours at the office since Remy had been taken, but Jubes had always run on only a few hours sleep, whether that was part of her mutation, or merely the fact she'd always been a nightowl, she couldn't say. Sometimes it worked out well for her though, like when they had to do all night surveillance, or like now when their low numbers meant twice to three times as much work for all of them.

She'd lifted at least a dozen folders from Wanda's inbox when the lady in question was out of her office in a rare moment of rest and was now standing outside Amanda's place at the Brownstone with several takeaway boxes from a local Thai restaurant, said folders and two bottles of red wine. She figured if they could get them done tonight, she could slip them into Wanda's outbox without anything knowing the difference.

"Mandy, you there?" she called, knocking against the door with a foot, the only limb she had free currently.

"Door's open!" came the slightly distracted reply. When Jubilee let herself in, the witch was on her couch surrounded by files, maps and papers. She had a pencil behind one ear and an uncapped yellow highlighter in her hand as she blinked at her teammate. "Do I smell food?" she asked hopefully.

"Food, and wine," Jubilee noted, clearing a spot carefully on the coffee table and placing the takeaway containers and glasses down before placing the bottles of wine beside them. Having done that, she brandished the files at her teammate. "Also, more work, I figured you could look through it, and I can take notes."

Amanda seemed about to protest as she was already pushing her own limits, but catching a better look at files, she recognized them. "Does the Boss Lady know you have those?" she asked, clearing some space on the couch and making grabby hands at the food.

"Not even a little bit," Jubilee responded, pushing one of the boxes toward Amanda and opening some rice. She pulled out two paper plates and placed one in front of her team-mate, and then opened the bottle of wine to pour them each a glass. "I figured we could get sneaky considering she's been getting buried again and not saying anything as per usual. Which leads me to my other question of how you've been coping? How's the leg?"

Amanda waved a half-eaten spring roll at Jubilee as a placeholder while she finished chewing the other half. "Smart girl," she managed. "Wanda needs the break." She finished the spring roll and reached for the files Jubilee had brought. "Leg's doing fine. I strained it the other day charging off to the mansion, but it's healing all right." She grinned. "'S just a flesh wound."

"We all totally need a break, but some of us also don't seem to know when to take one. Remy ain't here to order her off to bed either, although I suppose we could get Emma to try," Jubilee noted. She pulled her laptop out of her backpack and set it up in front of her. "How's Nico doin'? We're not gonna be facin' down demons again, are we?"

"I'll get onto her tomorrow; she listens to me, at least most of the time." the mention of Emma made Amanda scowl a little. "No need to drag the White Queen into it."

"Still not a fan of Emma's then?" Jubilee asked, noting the scowl at the mention of her name. Remy had trusted her enough to still work with her, even after what had happened with Belladonna, Jubilee figured that was good enough for her but she didn't have the history that Amanda did, she could understand why the other woman might be reluctant.

"Let's call it healthy skepticism," Amanda replied somewhat sourly. "If there's one thing we can trust Emma to do it's to look after her Hellfire interests. For now, we don't clash with those. When they do... Well I guess we'll see, won't we?" She dug out a forkful of pad Thai straight from the container, and added: "If you're going to cozy up to her White Knight, you'd do well to be careful yourself. I trust Doug, but his loyalties are divided and it makes him vulnerable."

"Cozying up?" Jubilee asked with a grin, not wanting to get into it, even though she had brought it up with the mention of Emma. It was a conversation fraught with peril, and not the cool kind with explosions and knife fights but the kind with hurt feelings and accusations of being blind to people's faults. She knew where Doug's loyalties lay, he'd shown what he was willing to do and it wasn't something she was ignoring, she was just hoping that it never came up. "That what the cool kids are calling it these days?"

Amanda rolled her eyes at Jubilee. "Would you prefer 'going steady' or some such bollocks?" she replied in the same vein. "Ooh, maybe he'll give you his class ring to wear and ask you to the prom!"

"Nah, secret decoder ring, much more appropriate gift for a thief," Jubilee replied, sticking her tongue out at Amanda before snagging the Pad Thai. She waved a fork at the work scattered around Amanda. "Sorry to dump more stuff on you, by the by. Anything I can help with as well while I'm here?"

"You can go through that pile. 'S a list of movements of the people we have tagged as Rumlow's over the past six months. I'm trying to see if there's a pattern that might lead to a central base." Amanda pointed with her fork at a stack of printouts. "Colour code each person on the map. If there's somewhere they're all going to - or if they're all avoiding - it might be worth looking at "

"Rockstar," Jubilee replied, pulling the pile forward and scanning the first entry. "How you dealing with everything else, apart from the leg?"

Amanda lowered the pages she was going through and gave Jubilee a steady look, before raising them again. "Well, I could do without the double drama of having someone I really care about being horribly tortured by Nazis and my student nearly killing her boyfriend during nookie and breaking up with him," she replied. "But apart from that, I'm just dandy."

"Which was why I asked," Jubilee replied, raising eyebrows at her teammate. "Everything else aside, I know I'm not like, your first choice but I do give a damn, and if talking helps at all, I'm willing to listen."

"It was more I thought it was sort of an obvious question," Amanda replied, poking her tongue out at Jubilee. "But seriously, talking's not really gunna help. This..." She waved her fork at the food and the wine and the pile of work Jubilee was going through. "This helps. If I talk, all I'm gunna do is remind myself what a bloody awful situation it is. I'd rather work on finding him."

"Dude, when have I not been obvious?" Jubilee asked with a grin - but she noted down a point on the map and passed Amanda some more rice. "And I can get that, work it is then. Also, completely obvious change of topic, did you see they've opened a free running/parkour place in District X? Opening day is next week."

"Like you need more excuses to hang upside down by your toes or whatever it is you do," was the teasing reply. "Did you get any garlic chicken?"
