Kitty had set up her laptop in the library and was typing away, occasionally glancing down at a book open on her side, flipping between pages. She'd been working for a while now and was almost done, a few more paragraphs and she'd be finished for break.

Bobby slid into a seat nearby with a book in hand, doing some extra research for a lesson he was thinking about giving in class, trying to make history a bit less dull somehow. "Hey Kitty," he said with a smile, not wanting to interrupt her too much.

Kitty glanced up and grinned. "Hey Bobby," she said, fingers pausing only fractionally as she typed away. "How goes?"

"Eh, not too bad. Haven't turned any rooms into ice caves since Monday," he replied, trying to make light of the situation. "How about you?"

Kitty's smile dimmed a bit as she recognized the attempt to make a joke out of something that had obviously been a problem, but she wasn't going to push, at least not now. "Not too bad," she said. Echoing his tone, she added, "Haven't been drugged into falling in love with anyone in weeks."

Bobby chuckled at that, nodding. "Yeah, me either. Man, that was a mess...poor Doug." He shakes his head. "I wonder if they ever found anything out about how the potion got out like that."

"I don't know," Kitty said, the typing stopping. "There were half a dozen people all shouting to find out who'd done it, but now it's like nobody's even asking anymore. Which either means they know and aren't telling us, or, well, or I don't know."

"It is kinda strange," Bobby agreed. "And if they do know, they're not sharing it with the entire staff, either. I've been watching the staff journals for some word, but...nothing." He shrugged. "Maybe they just want it to all settle down before they say anything?"

"I guess," Kitty agreed. "I mean, they'd hardly want to start another witch hunt." The second she'd said it she realized what an awful pun it was. "I mean..." she started. "Well, you know."

Bobby wasn't sure whether to laugh or wince at the unfortunate phrase, so he sort of did both. "Yeah, I know. I guess all we can do is wait and hope for word, huh?" It wasn't like Bobby was losing sleep over the whole thing, after all. Flirting with Doug despite knowing he was straight was nothing compared to the awfulness in the kitchen Monday afternoon. He'd take a dozen love potions before he went anywhere near Manuel again.

"That's us, hurry up and wait, or something." Kitty leaned back in her chair, stretching out her back. "But hey, all sources of drama aside, what's new in your life? Seems like I don't get to talk to you anymore now that you're teaching my classes rather than in them."

"I know, I feel so out of touch with so many people, these days." Bobby ran a hand through his hair absently. "There's not much new, although I'm still a bit baffled by the whole 'teacher Bobby' idea."

Kitty couldn't help but chuckle at that. "I don't know, you pull it off well. Certainly couldn't tell you're baffled by it in class, at least. But then," she added, "I'm hopeless at liberal arts of all kinds, History included."

"I guess I just never pictured myself as the teacherly type," Bobby admitted, standing and leaning against the table, hands jammed in his pockets. "So. While I've got you here...what do you think of the class? Use it to catch up on your physics?" He winked conspiratorially.

She laughed. "Hardly. I think it's really interesting, personally. And I'd be more likely to need my hours worth of phys time to keep up on my reading for you, except Doc McCoy would notice."

"And lecture you. You'd probably even understand him," Bobby kidded, grinning.

"Heavens, no. I can only keep up with him when he's being nice. If he's annoyed with me he wanders out into left field where even I can't follow."

"Good to know it's not just me, then." Bobby smiled and stood, glancing at the book in his hand with a sigh. "Well, I'd better get on my way. Those fascinating lessons don't plan themselves, you know."

Kitty smiled. "All right, I'll see you around." She paused for a second, then shrugged lightly. "And hey, if you ever want to talk... about more than the doctor's vocabulary, I'm here."

"Right. Thanks." Bobby smiled again, although this time there was a hint of strain in it, and headed for the door.

Sighing softly to herself, Kitty watched Bobby head out, then turned back to her paper.

"I mean, they'd hardly want to start another witch hunt."

*dies* That was awful. Funny, but awful. *grins* And yeah, big on the non-repeating of witch hunts. ;)

Lorna would just like to second this one with a very fervent "Oh hell, yeah."

And I'd like to give everyone...
