xp_logsKurt runs into Jean leaving the Professor's office.
Jean studied the Professor's office for a moment. It hadn't changed in a very long time, except for the big things, the ones meant to protect. She tucked a small plastic stick in her pocket as she turned off the light and stepped out into the hallway, headed back towards her room.
Kurt smiled as he saw her, heading down the corridor from somewhere else in the teaching rooms, and sped his steps to catch up with her. "Some last minute school business?" he asked easily.
Turning, Jean blinked at Kurt, her eyes briefly unfocused and distant before she smiled back.
"Charles let me borrow a book earlier. I was returning it back to his office," she said.
Kurt accepted the explanation without even a shrug, falling into step with his friend. "And that done, do you have any plans for the evening?"
The question seemed to be one that required some contemplation for it took Jean a few seconds to answer as she stared ahead, her attention elsewhere.
"I'm going to bed early. Busy day tomorrow."
"Oh?" He tilted his head curiously. "Should I ask what will have you so busy, in the summer holidays?"
Jean tilted her head to the side as they rounded the corner toward the stairwell that led up to the rooms above.
"Something I've been needing to do for a long time," she said, a hint of something hard to place in her expression before she smiled faintly.
"Well, this is my stop. Good night, Kurt."
"Good night, Jean", he said with another smile in return. "Good luck with whatever it is you will be doing."
Jean nodded as she started slow and methodically up the stairs. "Thank you," she said, then paused a moment, glancing over shoulder. The smile widened.
"Oh, and Kurt? Sweet dreams."
