Kane takes offense at Adrienne's swimsuit. Adrienne, 0. Garrison, 2. Awkwardness, 31. Frustration, 706. Anger, 1112. Understanding, -24.

Adrienne fanned herself with a magazine lazily as she lounged near the pool, debating whether she wanted to take a dip in the pool or just stay where she was. It was a short debate as a bead of sweat dripped down her temple. With a sigh she slid into the pool, doing a slow circuit before jumping back out.

She returned to her lounge chair and sought out her towel, but it didn't appear to be anywhere in sight. With a curse Adrienne glanced over at the smoker's porch, realizing she'd left it over on the railing. Dripping wet and in a skimpy suit she wasn't sure was appropriate for other people, especially teen boys, to see, she headed over at a quick pace, trotting on the balls of her feet towards the towel.

Kane came through the doors by the porch, wearing a light shirt and shorts. After his trip to Hong Kong, his head was full of questions. He'd recieved an e-mail from Dugan, explaining that his father had turned around and offered Luke Cage a job with Knightwing Restorations as a liaison. Which helped rein in a bit of the guilt he'd felt about the man getting burned.

He came over to the rail and leaned against the fence, looking out over the grounds, not really seeing anything but the questions running through his head. He especially didn't notice the towel hanging next to him.

Adrienne stopped in her tracks when Garrison came out onto the porch, taking a moment to stare at him, enjoying the way he looked when he was wrapped up in thought. She knew he'd just gotten back from somewhere, some sort of X-Men mission she thought, and remembered when they'd returned from Pakistan how he'd spent days puzzling out loose ends with the same look on his face as he had now. Of course that had been just before she'd had to leave, which turned the memory bittersweet.

Snapping out of her memory, she continued along to the porch, approaching to the side of Garrison. Not wanting to startle him by just invading his space to reach her towel, she cleared her throat. "Sorry, do you mind if I just..." she gestured towards the towel next to him.

"Hmm... what?" Kane said, shocked out of his introspection. He wasn't expecting Adrienne, and more importantly, he hadn't been expecting her to be right beside him in two pieces of virtually nothing. "What are you doing here." He said, stupidly.

"Uhhh..." Adrienne reached out for the towel and wrapped it around her torso. "I... was suntanning, and got hot, so I went in the water, and now I'm cold... I accidentally left my towel up here." And wow, could she sound like more of an airhead?

"Really? You just happened to be out here like this?" His voice had turned hard - almost mean, which was unlike Kane. "Isn't this a little extreme for doing laps?"

"Well... as I said, I was sunbathing. I wasn't doing laps," Adrienne answered, instinctively taking a step back from the coldness in Garrison's voice.

"Oh, you just happen to need your towel now?" Kane's mouth had gone dry seeing Adrienne like this. After so long, her in all but nothing in front of him burned like lye on his skin. She'd dropped him without a second thought, and now parading herself around where he was... it was like rubbing salt in the wounds.

Adrienne narrowed her eyes at Garrison. "Noooo," she murmured cautiously, "I went for a swim. I told you that. Are you alright?"

"Fuck you." Kane hissed, stalking off of the patio. This was supposed to be his home, and now she felt it was alright to ambush him whenever she felt like it. To hell with that, and with her.

She gave him a laugh and turned back towards the pool. "I really don't think that's an option right now, Slick," she called over her shoulder.

Kane's punch smashed the stone pillar into dust as he passed, his face set into an angry mask. The sound was like a cannon shot, but for once he didn't even consider the fact that he'd have Kyle in his face about the damage. Just getting away from her, with everything on show for whoever was her next choice and trying to pick up everyone with a dick on the journals was enough.
