Amara finds her target - Wade, who thankfully only has plastic guns on him.
Amara - dressed as Tim Burton's Alice - was doing her best to keep an eye on everything going on the party while she waited for Sam and Nico to arrive. She'd asked Layla to do the same thing, worried that something might happen with people suddenly not quite themselves. One of her current worries was the host of the party, Mr Wade Wilson. He was dressed as a cowboy - and who knew if the guns he had on him were real or not. She hoped not, but she thought she would check just in case.
And she didn't think it would be a good idea if he tried to lasso anyone.
With a slightly uncharacteristic swish in her walk, Amara approached the man in the cowboy hat, the petticoats under her skirt rustling just a little as she did. She clasped her hands behind her back, looking up at him with wide eyes.
"Excuse me, sir," she started, doing her best to flutter her lashes.
Earl was busy looking for his actual fiance, since apparently the one he'd thought was her wasn't, which made having another blonde-haired woman pop up in front of him a little startling. He half-drew one of his guns before realizing there was no way his Ellie Mae would be wearing a dress like that. "Well, uh," he said, hastily shoving the gun back into its holster. "Evening, miss." He tipped his hat to her. "Shouldn't you be on your way home? It's awful dark out for a little thing like you to be walking around alone."
Amara cast her eyes down as Wade began to draw his gun, relieved to see that it wasn't real. One less thing to worry about. She just hoped Layla was having similar luck with Sarah.
"Oh, thank you for your concern," she said with a smile. "But I'm looking for my sweetheart, and he just doesn't seem to be around here anywhere, and I thought you might be him." Amara was improvising, making up her story on the spot.
But if you squinted - really hard - in the dark - Wade and John could look similar, right?
"Your sweetheart?" Earl asked, blinking a little. "I'll be da-arned." He had to catch himself before cursing in front of a lady. "I done lost mine, too. Breaks my heart, it does." He let the sad expression slide off his face, though, and shook his head. "C'mon then, miss. We'll find your man, no trouble. And I'll keep these queer looking folk from bothering you."
"Why thank you, sir," Amara replied, her smile widening. "I just don't know what I'd do if I couldn't find him." She moved and tucked her arm in Wade's, steering him in a random direction. "Tell me about this sweetheart of yours. Maybe we'll find her while we're looking for mine."
And hopefully Sam and Nico would get here soon enough.
