Scott and Jean enjoy a quiet morning together, and he attempts not to burn breakfast.

Sunlight drifted through a crack the curtains in the Summers suite and puddled on the Scott's face. Wakened by the light, he blinked sleep away from his eyes as he examined the crack in the curtains which had woken him, weighing the benefits of getting getting out of bed to seal the curtains against the comfort of the warm bed. Shaking his head ruefully, he rolled onto his side and grinned as he looked at Jean. Moving back to the mansion had left him with a lot to get re-acquainted with, waking up next to his beautiful wife was something he had definitely missed. Coming to a decision, he stretched out his hand to wake her.

Unconsciously feeling Scott move while in her sleep, Jean turned her head, letting out a quiet chirp of protest at being disturbed. Not used to having a 'road block' as it were to reaching the other side of the bed when turning over, the redhead rolled a bit too forcefully, stretching her arms and legs as she did.

Scott yelped in surprise as Jean stretched, he scrambling backwards to avoid her flailing limbs. Unfortunately he misjudged his position on the bed and slipped off the edge falling unceremoniously onto his back, the air in his lungs rushing out as he hit the floor. "Ouch" he looked up at his wife, "Jean, Jean wake up" he called trying to stop her from attacking him.

Jean bolted up in bed, having sensed the momentary burst of panic coming from Scott. She peered over the side of the bed, her hair looking rather like a bird's nest, bits of red tangled curls sticking out every which way.

She tilted her head, blinking at him before she let out a laugh that quickly turned into a look of concern.

"Oh...sorry..." she said, biting her lip to try to hide another smile that crept in. "Are you okay?" she said

Scott sat up, rubbing the back of his head and blinked owlishly at Jean. " I'll survive" he replied. "Although that wasn't quite the wake up I had in mind" Then he noticed her hair and the edges of his mouth quirked upwards, regardless of his intent.

"New trick to make sure I have to make breakfast?" Scott asked.

Jean laughed, pulling the sheet over her to stave off the cold from the chilly morning that clung to her now that she was conscious and moving around.

"I thought anything subtler wouldn't have as much impact," she said with a smirk as she offered him her hand.

"I've had the entire bed to myself for awhile.I guess I'm still trying to get used to the idea of having you in it again. Are you sure you're okay? No bruises..backside or ego or anything like that?"

"Oh a multitude of aches and pains" Scott replied as he reached for Jean's hand. "I really think I should go to the infirmary and get myself checked out."

"That is unless perhaps my favorite doctor is willing to kiss it and make it better." As he spoke Scott grabbed Jean's hand and pulled backwards dragging her out of bed on top of him.

Jean's eyes widened and she let out a cry of surprise as she landed in a tangle of sheets and limbs, her hair framing her face as she looked down at him, grinning.

"Now that's cheating," she said. She leaned down to kiss him before pulling away and tilting her head with a smile.

"Is that better?"

"Much better", Scott replied, "A half-naked red head, definitely what the doctor ordered." He grinned before wrapping his arms around Jean and pulling her down for another kiss.

"We don't actually have to get up today do we?" Scott asked as he lay back against the floor and looked up at Jean.

Jean glanced up toward the door thoughtfully before letting out a breath. "Sadly I have to grade papers before tomorrow and head into town to meet with my sister for lunch," she said. Scott's return and the presence of so much family for Thanksgiving had made her sister remember her own husband being gone despite it being so long ago. They hadn't really spoken much lately and Jean wanted to make the time to talk to her.

"It's the weekend," Scott sighed before glancing at the clock. "Well the way I see it that gives us at least a few hours before we have to be out of bed." He smiled up at Jean one had reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear before cupping her cheek with his palm. "Got anymore medicine you think I should take Doc?" he asked.

Jean laughed. "Well...I suppose they can get their grades on Tuesday," she said, leaning in to kiss him again.

"As for your treatment...a few more of these..." she said, bestowing one more kiss. "Should fix you right up."

Scott kissed Jean back, determined to enjoy the limited time they had alone together. His hands luxuriated in the soft feel of her skin has he placed one on her back and the other ran down her leg. Breaking away, he smiled up at her, "That's some potent medicine Doc, I feel much better." As he spoke he pushed himself up off the floor and scooped Jean up in his arms

"Good..." Jean said, reaching up to run her hands through his hair again. It still seemed strange to have him there permanently, literally, and not just the idea of him.

"You mentioned something about breakfast?" she said, grinning.

"Uh...right breakfast" Scott replied dragging his mind away from the relaxed daydreaming state he had been occupying while Jean played with his hair. "What'll you have?" he asked as he glanced between the kitchenette and their bed, "we have cereal, eggs or honey and I could burn some toast."

"How I have missed your charcoal flavored breakfasts," Jean said a wry smile as she laughed, wandering over to the bathroom to grab her robe from the back of the door.

"Surprise me."

Scott wandered into the kitchenette and opened the fridge, "So how is your sister?" he asked as he surveyed the options in front of him. Making a decision he reached for the eggs and opened a drawer, and then stopped. "uhh Jean" he called out with confusion in his voice,

"where's the frying pan?"

"Bottom shelf on the right next to the oven. I put the spices up top for easier access," Jean said as she slipped on her robe.

"She's okay. It's been years but...sometimes...some days hit her harder than most with Paul gone."

Scott nodded as he bent over to pick up the frying pan, "Yeah, she would probably appreciate some time off to catch up with you". He turned to flash a smile at Jean, "You do have a calming effect on people."

Jean laughed. "Figuratively or literally? People can get really calm with sedatives," she mused with a wry grin.

"But somehow I don't think that's what you meant."

"I knew there was a reason you were such a popular doctor" Scott replied pulling the orange juice out of the fridge, "Imagine abusing your keys to the drug cabinet like that, I'm shocked" he deadpanned.

"There's a reason I was called 'Sleepy Jean' in medical school..." Jean mused, her expression hard to tell if she was joking or not as she took a seat at the table and rested her chin in her hands.

"Sorry we had to miss the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Plaza on account of the hospital situation with Mulwray...I was looking forward to it."

Scott walked over to Jean to place a glass of juice in front of her before wrapping her in a brief hug. "Ah honey," he comforted her, "Never mind, we can always go next year."

"I know...it comes with the territory," Jean said. She was disappointed but not that broken up. If it hadn't happened that way something else would've happened: terrorists, zombies, etc.

As he walked back to the stove before the eggs burnt Scott asked, "What do you say we get out of here for Christmas though, no school, no X-men." He flashed a wolfish grin at Jean, "Just you and me and no distractions."

"You just got back and you want to leave again?" Jean said, purely curious. "I know it's to be with me but...I'm sure the others would like to have you around."

"I'm not going anywhere Red" Scott gently reminded Jean, "They can have me any other time next year, I just want to be able to spend a few days with you, without the distractions of school, or the X-men...or homework" he pulled a face at Jean.

Jean eyed him a moment, meeting his expression with that of a dubious one, as if the idea of that were impossible to achieve. She finally let out a breath and smiled.

"Alright. But maybe just Manhattan. I don't want to go too far..." In case something blew up. She was thinking too much into it.

Scott shook his head and laughed, "Manhattan it is then, but I'm pretty sure Amelia can handle anything that comes up. I mean one red-head or another, how could anyone tell you're missing" he grinned playfully at Jean. "Could you get the toast honey?" he asked turning back to the frying pan in his hands.

Jean wandered over to the cabinet and grabbed two plates, setting them on the table. The two pieces of toast popped out of the toaster and came for a landing gently on each plate. Meanwhile one of the napkins in the napkin holder balled itself up and collided with Scott's forehead.

Taking a seat at the table, Jean innocently took a sip of juice.

Scott blinked at the offending napkin before turning to glare at the Napkin holder. "I knew it, everything in this suite is out to get me" He turned to wink at Jean, "but if that's how it's gonna be."

He innocently walked over to the table and slipped a fried egg onto each of the plates, turning he walked behind Jean to get to his seat. As Scott passed behind Jean his hands shot out and started lightly running up and down her sides as he tickled her mercilessly.

Jean let out a squeal, flailing as she squirmed to get away from him lightly swatting at him as she laughed.

"Cold hands, cold hands!"

Scott continued his relentless assault as he turned his best puppy dog face on Jean, "You wouldn't want to leave me with cold hands would you? They might freeze off." He grinned.

"Something's about to freeze off,"Jean warned with a smirk as she slipped out of his grasp, nearly climbing over the chair to do it, and quickly darted into the living room area. She eyed him daringly.

Scott calmly dipped a piece of toast in Jean's egg before popping it in his mouth, "Well your breakfast is gonna be frozen by the time I'm done with you" he responded with a grin before chasing her into the living room. Trying to catch up to Jean Scott lunged over the sofa reaching for her robe.

"You'll have to catch me first," Jean said, narrowly avoiding his grasp by a mere half an inch as she glanced over her shoulder, grinning back at him from in front of the bed.

Scott grinned, "Why Mrs Summers, that almost sounds like a challenge" he responded as he backed her towards the bed until her legs bumped right into it.. "Nowhere to run now" he teased her with a grin.

"That's Dr. Summers thank you..." Jean countered, tilting her head as she smiled at him. "Nowhere to run indeed...whatever will you do with me?"

Scott blinked at Jean and then laughed, "My most abject apologies" he answered as he stepped closer to her. Reaching out he slipped his arms around her and pulled her in towards him before kissing her softly. "I can think of a few things," he whispered into her ear with a grin.

Jean glanced up at him, kissing him back. "Mmmm..." she said, grinning. "I like this plan."
Scott smiled into Jean's eyes, "I thought you might" he answered kissing her forehead.
