Lorna/Sharon: Backdate to last night
Mar. 15th, 2012 08:06 pmLorna and Sharon go over the list of what is needed for the St. Patty's Day Party.
Lorna was in the kitchen looking over a list awhile looking in the fridge - while making notes. Looking over at the entrance "Sharon! So glad you came." She said walking over to the counter, closing the fridge with her power. "I wanted to go over the list and decorations." Lorna was planning a full out party, for those who wanted to come of course.
"Ooooo, decorations?!" Sharon clapped her hands together excitedly. "I didn't know we were getting decorations! Funfunfun! Do you think it'll be nice enough that maybe we can even take the party out onto the patio for a little bit on Saturday?" She'd come back to the school at the beginning of winter, so it had been a long time since she'd had a patio party.
"It is a surprise, kind of. And what kind of day would it be without decorating everything green? Do you think we can get away with decorating people's doors that night before?" She smirked. Thinking about the idea of having it on the patio and nodded. "Yea I think we can do that. Can get a couple of heating lamps to keep people warm if the weather chill." Lorna moved the list towards Sharon. "Any other good ideas? Thinking about going into town tomorrow, maybe get Scott to drive the big van for everything."
"We can decorate the doors yesyesyes! I can be sneakysneaky!" Sharon replied enthusiastically, excitement making her forget to think about her speech the way she usually did. She read the list, nodding as she did so, adding the heat lamps to it. "We should have a band. Music's big in Ireland right? Do you think Terry would play? Or at least we should get a bunch of cds with... what's it called? Jigs and reels? Fiddle music?"
Lorna laughed, "Excellent. We'll do that tomorrow night when everyone is asleep." She liked Sharon's excitement, it was rubbing off on Lorna and she was getting excited. "Maybe? I know she had a few ideas on some dinner food that doesn't involve cabbage." Smiling, "Celtic Music? Wonder if we know anyone that can River dance."
"I'm not sure I even know someone who can do regular dancing, never mind do Irish dancing," Sharon giggled. She added another dozen eggs to Lorna's shopping list to accommodate the soda bread she was going to make. "So do you like St. Patrick's Day for any other reason than green is important for it and you have green hair?" she asked Lorna curiously.
"Might be able to get someone to dance for us, do the Irish jig or something." Lorna pondered, now who was she going to get? "And to pinch people that don't wear green, that is important." Nodding. "And gives me a reason to cook corn beef. You?"
"I just like parties," Sharon grinned. "But if there was a purple holiday I think I might like it especially lots! Are there any purple holidays, do you think?"
"If there isn't we can always make a purple holiday, just for you. Make purple cake, purple food..." She smirked. "First we'll do St. Patty's Day and then we'll make plans for Purple day. Don't want to over work us. So I'll text Scott about tomorrow, want to go into town if you aren't busy?"
Sharon thought that was a fantastic idea. "Purple day could be my birthday! It's not until August so there's time for lots of planning," she nodded. "I always want to go into town! If Scott can't drive the big van I could drive my car or the van; I love driving!"
"Hottest month of the year. Tons of time for planning." Lorna smiled, "Awesome. Last day of planning is tomorrow and to get everything." Late planning but the day snuck up on her. Lorna laughed, "Driving has its perks. Okay. But will everything fit in your car?"
"Probably not," Sharon admitted. "But I thought maybe if the van wasn't available we could take my car and one of Scott's cars too. Convooooooooooy!" she called out enthusiastically, then looked around sheepishly. "Or something."
Lorna put her hand on Sharon's shoulder, "That is a wonderful idea. I like it." She smiled at her friend. "Okay it is getting late. Anything else you want to add to the list?"
Sharon perused the list again. "Is someone making Colcannon or should I make it?"
"No one at the moment, but Yvette said something about peeling the potatoes. So there is help there." Lorna said. "Oh, helpers that is right. We got Yvette, Sooraya, Terry -who will help with providing recipes-, Jean -she will also providing recipes with non alcoholic dessert for the kids-, Layla, and JP mentioned about helping if we can put him to work."
"Okay, I'm putting leeks and kale on the list," Sharon nodded. "Someone can make it! It's nice to have so many people willing to help! This is gonna be a great party!"
"Yes, the mansion will not know what hit them when the awake to see green everywhere." Lorna smirked. "And the smell of food coming from the kitchen."
