Scott stops by to check on Kurt and finds him taking things... really rather well, actually.

Scott paused outside the door to the suite, he had heard about the argument Kurt had had with Monet. By now everyone in the mansion had heard about it. Kurt had been there for Scott when he had been feeling low after his blow out with Jean and now Scott figured it was his turn to be there for his friend. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

The door opened before his hand was even clear of it, and a girl who was decidedly not Monet - or any mansion resident - stopped short in the process of leaving and blinked up at him.  "Um... hi."

Scott stopped in surprise before glancing at his hand and lowering it. "Hi there," he replied evenly as he recovered from the shock of seeing a strange girl in Kurt's suite. "I take it Kurt's here then?" he asked.

"In the kitchen", she confirmed, glancing over her shoulder as if to check.  "Making coffee.  I was just going."

"Come in, Scott!" came from inside.  "Ellie, call me."

Scott stepped out of the door to allow Ellie to leave nodding a goodbye to her as he stepped into the suite. Walking into the kitchenette he raised a questioning eyebrow at Kurt, "I heard about you and Monet and thought you might want to talk but..." He gestured at the recently vacated hallway.

Kurt nodded, glancing back at the hallway automatically.  "What can I say?  Wade offered drinks, there was a bar, then there was Ellie.  Coffee?"

"Please." Scott replied as he settle into a chair. He turned to look at Kurt, "So what happened?"

"With Monet?" He shrugged slightly as he made his way over with two steaming cups.  "Things were not right for a few months, really.  We had fought before, mostly over nothing.  This time started with milk, of all things."

"Milk?" Scott asked incredulously, his hand stretched towards the milk for his coffee. Glancing at the milk he thought better of it and withdrew his hand."I'm sorry to hear that Kurt. I had no idea things were that rocky between the two of you." He looked at his friend with concern, "Are you going to be ok?"

"There was not enough for her tea", Kurt informed him dryly, then considered the answer.  "I am resilient, my friend, and perhaps it is for the best in this case.  We were never the most compatible, I suppose."

"Her tea?" Scott shook his head in amazement, he hadn't expected that. "You are," Scott agreed before continuing, "but failed relationships hurt. I know that much from experience." He smiled sadly at Kurt.

"Monet has always been... special."  He tilted his head at his friend, hearing that.  "You and Jean are still not talking?"

"Special is one way to describe her," Scott agreed. He sighed as he looked at Kurt, "No, not unless we have to, shared duty or for class. Even then it's strictly formal."

"Do I have to lock you two in the Box?" Kurt demanded, only half joking.  "I will, you know, and the Professor would help me.  She cannot get out of there."

Scott laughed, "You wouldn't. Lock me in a room with a woman who is very capable of killing me without lifting a finger?" Scott's smile faded slightly as sadness crept into his eyes. "It might take something like that," he admitted. "I don't want to let it, let her go. But I jsut don't know how to talk to her anymore."

"I will do whatever it takes to help you", Kurt said frankly, "because I believe that you can make it work.  You were together too long, happy too long, for even a big thing to just be allowed to end it so easily."

Scott smiled at Kurt, "Thanks. I don't want to let her go, sometimes you have to fight for it. I just wish I knew how to start." He took a deep breath as he looked at Kurt, "A right pair we make," he commented, "I thought we were past the relationship drama. It's not like we're in high school anymore."

Kurt snorted.  "I never went to high school.  Perhaps I am making up for it now."

Scott smiled at his friend as he took another sip of his coffee, "Perhaps you are at that," he replied.

"It will be all right", he said suddenly after a drink from his own cup.  "I will be fine, and if you and Jean are not... at least you will have worked hard at it first.  I will help you."

"I'd like to believe that," Scott replied quietly. He just wasn't sure anymore, the entire episode had shaken up his confidence more than he was willing to admit. He took another sip of his coffee as he examined Kurt, coming to a decision. "Why not, we can always hope. And with friends like you. We'll make it somehow. And you?" he asked.
"I am a gypsy, my friend, we are born survivors.  For me, for now... my mother asked me with her dying breaths not to waste my youth on only duty.  Live and love, were her words, and I am still young.  I mean to give her her wish."  He grinned a little wickedly then.  "And I mean to have fun doing it."
