Wade meets BigCat.

Racing after the nimble-footed deer, the lavender cougar flew through the woods, dodging trees and snow and exposed underbrush. The deer veered left suddenly but the cougar stayed on its trail. She let it get a little bit ahead, enjoying the chase. Catseye wasn't hungry, and there was plenty of venison in the freezer already, so she had no desire to kill the deer. She just wanted to keep the deer in the woods on their toes, make sure they weren't getting fat and slow and cocky. She was also in a mood to just run and run until she wore herself out, and having something to chase made her feel a little more purposeful.

The deer veered off again suddenly, but this time Catseye let it go, skidding to a stop. The deer must have picked up on the human scent that Catseye now had in her nostrils. Instead of fleeing it like the deer had, however, the cougar moved towards it. She spotted Wade doing a series of movements she thought might be some form of martial arts. She came out into the clearing where he was practicing and sat on her haunches to watch, curious.

Wade's eyelids were at half-mast as he moved through the kata, shifting from form to form as he centered himself, pushing everything to do with the last several weeks out of his mind. Of course, he pretty much stopped thinking about the drama of being sixteen for a few days when he realized a very large, very purple cat was watching him. At least it wasn't looking at him like he was dinner. Dropping the form, he held his hands at his sides and quirked an eyebrow. "Are you going to say hello? Or am I going to have to carry on a one-sided conversation with only your tail flicks as an indication of whether or not you think I'm interesting? Cause I can do that, seriously - you have no idea how much I can ramble."

Catseye shifted to her human form, shoving the hunger pangs she experienced to the back of her thoughts as she grinned. "I didn't want to interrupt you. And I've participated in my share of tail-flick conversations with people, but not when they're doing interesting things! What is it you're doing?"

"The kata," Wade answered, smiling. "Just forms and things to help me clear my head. If you do them fast, though, they can help you defend yourself. It's all kinds of useful. You are a fantastic shade of purple, but I'm sure you hear that all the time. And you make a nice cat - big, but nice. I imagine that comes in handy sometimes."

The catgirl preened, stroking her lavender hair and grinning more widely. "Well, I don't need to do the kata to defend myself," she giggled, "so yes, it comes in handy sometimes! And I do hear it all the time, about what a lovely shade of lavender I am. Of course, most of the time I tell myself!"

Wade ginned. "A healthy sense of self-esteem - that's good. You should definitely keep that. I'm Wade, by the way. I think I've seen you on the journal system a bit and you dropped by at Thanksgiving, didn't you? That was some delicious stuffing stuff you made. What would I have to bribe you with to make some more of it?"

"You don't have to bribe me," Catseye laughed, "I'll make you some anytime! I'm Sharon. I don't have to drop by anymore though, I live here now," she said, holding her hand out. "Nice to meet you Wade."

Giving her hand a shake, Wade said, "Awesome. I'm in and out - I share a suite with Clarice but I spend a lot of time in the city, too. So it's good to know I'll see you around. And you're taking classes to become a chef? That's what you said on the journals?"

"Yesyes that's right, I just started college," Catseye answered. "So do you work here at the mansion, Wade? Or do you work in the city, if you spend a lot of time there?"

"I am currently unemployed," Wade said, smiling. "But my girlfriend lives in the city and all my minions live here, so I tend to go back and forth, back and forth. A lot."

Catseye sniffed deeply several times, getting close to Wade. "Girlfriend..." she sniffed some more. "Marie-Ange?"

"Got it in one!" Wade said, grinning. "You're like Kyle, then? With the super sniffer? That's a pretty useful power, huh? How do you know Marie-Ange?"

Preening some more at Wade's mention of the useful power, Catseye swished her tail. "From around. I lived here at the mansion a long time ago, when I was sixteen. And then I left. And then I came back. Then I left again, but I'm back now. But yeah," she shrugged, grinning, "I've known her since I was a SillyKitten."

Wade laughed. "A SillyKitten? Sounds like you had fun, at least. Coming and going and coming and going. I've done that once or twice myself, actually, and I've only been around the mansion for... almost a year now? Back and forth between here and Muir for me, though. Not so much fun. Do you know any martial arts? Or do you mostly just relay on your claws if you need to defend yourself?" Because seriously? Who would go after a large purple cat?

Catseye put her hands up and showed Wade how the claws on her fingers could retract and grow. "Claws have always done the job for me," she giggled. She sobered up when his comment about Muir not being fun sunk in. "Uh oh. Muir? Are you sick? Do your powers not work right? Do they hurt people? Uh... unless you don't want to tell me. It's okay if it's private."

"It's alright, I think most everybody knows. I've got a healing factor but it's kinda gimpy. Mostly because I've got cancer and the healing factor's not making it go away," Wade said, shrugging. "It still heals stuff, just not as fast as other people's healing factors do. But I'm glad your claws work for you. That's always nice to hear."

"Did you try any human treatments to make it go away?" Catseye inquired curiously, brow furrowing as if trying to figure out some way to cure Wade all on her own. "I think sometimes those work."

"Sometimes," Wade said, smiling. "But not always. Unfortunately, they didn't work for me. But the docs are all looking into things and trying to figure them out, so I'm sure they'll come up with something for me sometime." Maybe not any time soon, but he wasn't going to quibble. "What were you chasing? I heard it approaching, but it veered to the left before coming through the clearing."

"The doctors here are veryverysmart!" Catseye nodded. "I'm sure Doctor Jean and Doctor Hank and Doctor Ameila can think of something!" She glanced out into the woods as if suddenly remembering about the deer. "Oh! It was a deer."

"A deer, huh?" Wade asked. "I knew they were out here - haven't seen one yet." He considered that for a moment, then asked, "Are you the reason there's all that venison in the freezer? And if so, is it up for grabs? Because I think it'd be pretty tasty."

"Yes I guess I am the reason," the catgirl nodded. "Other people hunt too though so it's not always me bringing home the venison. If you ever take the last of it though please just let me know so I can restock, but yesyes it is definitely up for grabs! It is too tasty not to share!"

"I will keep that in mind," Wade said, grinning. "And, having said that, how would you feel about some venison burgers?"

Catseye pretended to mull this over, cocking her head thoughtfully. "I'd feel pretty good about them," she said, and broke into a huge grin.
