Angelica goes to talk to Scott about re-joining the X-men but he gets a little distracted

Angel sighed as she made her way through the halls of the mansion, in search of a certain office. If she was going to be staying in New York, there was really no reason why she couldn't re-join the team, right? She found the room she was looking for with the door slightly ajar, and knocked lightly before daring to step inside, calling, "Mr. Summers?"

Scott looked up from his desk where he had been trying to get ahead of his constant backlog of paperwork. "Angelica? Come in," he gestured to one of the chairs in front of his desk as he put down his pen. "How can I help you?"

"Well..." Angel took a seat, folding her hands on her lap. "It turns out going back to England isn't in my near future. Or far future. Or...future in general." At least, if Chloe had her way. "My point is, it looks like I'm back in New York for the duration, and I was wondering if I could get back on the team. You know, get back into regular training sessions and Danger Room runs-" Though why she wanted to get back into Danger Room runs, she wasn't entirely sure. "Be an X-Man again."

Scott leaned back in his chair and templed his fingers, "What happened?" he asked curiously. "You mentioned that you weren't going to be able to go back on your journal." He'd been meaning to ask her about it, it didn't sound like Angel had had a good time of it in London.

"Uh...yeah..." Angel hadn't really gotten used to telling the story. "Well...long story short, I never told the person I was living with I'm a mutant, and last week we kind of accidentally stumbled onto another pyro, and he was...he was pretty out of control, so I jumped in to stop him from hurting anyone. And my roommate...didn't react well. She ignored me for a couple of days, and when I finally got a hold of her, she told me she couldn't trust me anymore, and she didn't want to live with me, and...well, she said she told the rest of our friends what happened, so I can't even move in with one of them. So...I just decided to stay in New York. Wow, that wasn't really short, was it?"

Scott just stared at Angel as the silence dragged out between them. "You really didn't handle that as well as you could have did you?" he asked softly. "You did the right thing stepping in to save the other mutant, but why didn't you tell your roommate you were a mutant? You must have known that it was going to come out eventually Angelica. I've got to say I would have expected better of you." he said sadly.

Ouch. Angel fidgeted, pressing her lips together. "I know," she said finally. "I mean, I know I didn't handle it well. I was going to tell her, but...there isn't exactly a mutant box to check on a roommate application - major oversight given the world we live in - and I thought if I told her right away she'd freak out." And Angel didn't care what Chloe had said, she still held to that belief. "And the longer I put it off, the harder it got to find a way to bring it up. And okay, maybe I kind of stupidly hoped I would never have to deal with it. But this entire situation...I brought it on myself, I know I did."

"It's never easy, but you should have told her from the beginning Angelica. I can understand you wanting to put off telling your roommate for as long as possible, but she would have felt betrayed too. A little freaking out is understandable, and well theses things tend to snowball." He stopped and examined Angelica over his desk, she obviously felt badly enough about the entire situation without him jumping up and down on her over it. "We learn through experience, so at least you know for the future."

"Yeah...those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. And I definitely learned." Not that the knowledge was going to help her fix this situation. But it was done, it was over, and even if it hurt (and it hurt like hell), Angel was going to have to move on. And despite the fact that she understood Scott's compulsive need to lecture and act all leader-like, it was time to get back to the original reason Angel had come in here. "So...about me and the team...?"

Scott nodded acknowledging he'd let himself be distracted, "I don't see a problem with you re-joining the team. I'll talk to the professor an get his approval." He smiled at the younger mutant, "Welcome back to the X-men Angelica."

Angel beamed. Every cloud has a silver lining. Certainly words to live by. "Great. Brilliant." God she loved the word brilliant. "Awesome." And now she couldn't manage more than one-word sentences. Oh well. She was happy.

Scott glanced down at the Danger Room schedule on his desk. "It looks like the danger Room is free in 3 hours, why don't you meet me then and we'll run some simulations to check on your skills and figure out where your powers stand."

"Three hours? Sounds great." Actually it sounded like Angel had a death wish. But she wasn't about to say no. She'd take whatever Scott had to throw at her. Even a Danger Room run. Besides, how bad could it be?
