Adrienne goes to Xavier with concerns about the safety of the students who are interested in going to the Genosha protest...
After sipping tea and making small-talk with Xavier, Adrienne decided it was time to cut to the chase, even though she figured he already knew why she'd made the appointment to see him in his office. "So, I'm sure you already know about this Genosha rally that's coming up," she began, setting her teacup down. "Just like I'm sure you already know better than I do that a few of the kids are interested in showing their support. All I have is a hunch based on what I've learned about them in the past couple months," she admitted, "but I don't think I'm wrong. I think a lot of people around here are going to want to go, and it's supposed to be happening on a weekday when we're responsible for the students' safety. So I think we should take them... as... a field trip, or something," she proposed, a little nervousness in her voice. "I could make it part of my Topics in Global Studies class, since we've been focusing on mutant rights worldwide. Even the ones who aren't taking the class could come. That way, we bring chaperones, we keep them together, and we keep them safe. Plus, they're not cutting class," she added with a slight smirk.
Charles responded to the small joke with a faint smile of his own, but he looked concerned. "A protest of this size... how do you intend to provide for the security of the students?
"Chaperones?" Adrienne repeated, sounding unsure now. "Most of the rest of the teaching staff are X-Men, after all. I was hoping they'd be agreeable. Maybe supplement that with some people with ties to XFI who have done some protection or bodyguard work, like Beaubier or Fred Dukes?"
"It might also be worthwhile speaking to Garrison Kane and Theresa Cassidy. With their positions with the FBI, they may already be attending." Charles steepled his fingers thoughtfully. "An outing of this nature... you will need to drill the students on the need for security consciousness. Having their Xavier's phones on them at all times, staying with their chaperones, that sort of thing."
"Of course," Adrienne nodded.
"I can't deny there is a significant educational benefit to this field trip. And I believe you are correct in your assessment that many of the students will wish to attend any way." Charles considered it a moment longer, then nodded. "Very well. Your field trip is approved, Ms. Frost." A slight smile appeared. "You might not thank me for this later."
