Genosha - The End of the Beginning
May. 27th, 2012 10:55 pmWarren and Lorna also have helicopter woes.
The scene on the ground was bad - the Genoshans had the X-teams outnumbered and cornered. In the sky, things were getting worse. With Terry and Angel down and Sam gone, only Lorna and Warren were left against an increasing swarm of military helicopters.
Lorna did a quick count of the military helicopters that had arrived and didn't like the number. Lifting her hands up, she concentrated on the blades of the machine, if she could get those to stop or at least bent, it would send the helicopters off course.
Warren had taken a moment to flick the image inducer he used for his wings off, making those white wings clearly obvious against the sky. He darted amongst the helicopters, attracting the attention of the occupants who began to train their guns on him. But before they could fire, he pulled his wings in tight, letting himself drop far enough so they were aiming at each other, rather than him.
Flying higher into the sky, Lorna looked down and pushed her hands down as she sent down a magnetic pulse towards the military helicopters, sending them to the grounds below.
"I don't know how much longer we can hold them off for," Warren said into his earpiece, dodging more fire from the helicopters.
Looking around at the remaining threat, "There is too many...we have to pull back." Lorna sent out another magnetic pulse at the nearest helicopter sending it into another one nearby.
"We need to keep their attention while we do it, make sure Cannonball has plenty of time to get everyone clear. I'll get their attention and start heading away from the city." Warren took that opportunity to swoop dangerously in front of one of the helicopters, and immediately swung away from the city. The helicopter swung around to follow him, and Warren narrowly missed being hit by a spray of gunfire.
Lorna flew between two helicopters and caught their attention before flying towards another group. "If we can group them together I might be able to bring them down with a blast." She said to him as she started to make her away further away from the city.
"Roger that, Polaris." Time to play herd the helicopters. He pushed himself harder, his speed increasing, as he dove between helicopters, turning to avoid their razor sharp blades, fighting against the currents they were creating.
The helicopters didn't seem to catch on to what they were doing as yet, following the pair of X-Men as they made their way away from the city.
Waiting until she was far enough away, she stopped and turned. Holding her hands facing each other as she created the green magnetic ball, waiting until the helicopters had reached where she wanted it. Sending her hands out she let it go, taking down most of their enemy. Falling a bit from the use of energy, she got a hold of herself and flew up. "I really hate helicopters right now."
"Likewise," Warren replied, maneuvering so he could keep an eye on Lorna while they made their escape. "Hopefully that will keep them distracted for awhile."
