Kurt leads a team into the Citadel through the motor pool.

The resistance formed up and took down an entire swath of security fence, allowing them to sweep over the outer defenses and pour into the yard. They had been sent to keep their mobility down, descending on the motor pool. It was locked behind a security door, and they found themselves facing heavy, disciplined fire as they advanced. "Adipose", Kurt directed Fred, dodging a burst of fire as he spoke, "please tear down that door."

Before Kurt had actually even begun his request, Fred was shouting and pounding at the large obstruction. quick rattles of fire burst across his back. Finally rending the door from its place, Fred hefted up the large chunk of metal and hurled towards the nearest outcropping of gunfire.

"The man does good work," Adrienne commented when Fred took out the door. Gun at the ready, she went through the doorway, firing her weapon steadily as she fought down panic at the counterfire that awaited them.

There had to be a way to stop them from firing guns—or even having guns, and Meggan had only been able to come up one thing she could attempt to contribute to things. She really hoped this stunt worked, because it was a step up from her earlier notion of guard whack-a-mole. As she crossed through the now impressively doorless threshold, she dove first upwards toward the ceiling, and then looped back down as fast as possible, baton outstretched to swat the closest. Well, the closest that Fred hadn’t knocked about.

Shifting from a springy rubber to a lead alloy mid bounce, Paige crashed into the knees of a back-to-back group of guards. It was the combat equivalent of bowling, but for all its lack of grace, it worked; they came tumbling down, sending rifles flying.

Kurt had decided that what had worked in the bunker at Prenova would certainly work here, and had taken to kidnapping the soldiers one at a time and dropping them a few hundred metres offshore. Not far enough they'd have real trouble getting back, but definitely far enough to tire them out and ruin their guns.

Fred, even as upset as he was, knew his role: cover the more fragile mutants. He grabbed a guard that was trying to flank Meggan and launched him head first into a Genoshan closer to Adrienne. He twisted around, "Hey, where's Nigh-" Fred caught his question as he noticed Kurt 'porting. "Huh." Since the blue mutant could obviously take care of himself, Fred focused on drawing fire from Adrienne.

Everyone else had mutations that made them useful in this fight, but Adrienne just had guns. She didn't even have a healing factor, damnit! She took up a position at the flank, behind an ambulance parked in the corner of the motor pool where she hoped no one could get the jump on her. It offered a not-terrible vantage point for providing cover fire. There was a brief, fleeting thought that crossed her mine, about driving the ambulance into the team of Magistrates, but Adrienne wasn't sure she wouldn't hit her own team so she dismissed the idea. It was hard enough avoiding hitting them with the guns. She used her powers to find a best-case scenario in terms of shooting patterns and followed it, pausing only to reload and take more Readings.

The room was clear, finally, as Kurt reappeared from another trip to the ocean, all the Magistrates down, fled, or swimming home. "Everyone!" he called to the team. "Time to move on."

Meggan was successful in knocking a gun out of the hands of one Magistrate before he could fire, with a swift baton whack across the knuckles. She instantly went to drift back up to the ceiling in an effort to try one more brisk baton whack across the knuckles. Which was a vain exercise, seeing as they’d all gone away now. At Kurt’s orders, she regained her footing on the ground and quickly hurried back.

Looking up from breaking the nose of one of the more saucy opponents that had refused to just stay down and knocked out, Paige nodded, getting to her feet. She glared at him, pointing, before using the proximity to practically swat him down, right behind the ear, satisfied when he moaned quietly but didn't move to get up.

Kurt led the way towards the entrance from the garage, intent on the team's goal - although a small part of his attention was also spared for Meggan, who he was trying to keep close beside him.

Meggan wasn’t planning to stray far from Kurt’s side as they went, not if she could help it. Or at least not for very long if she had to. Not after everything, not unless there was a plan involved.

Fred brought up the rear of the group, trying to simultaneously keep his eyes on both Meggan and Adrienne. He managed the best smile he was capable of in his larger form when he addressed Kurt, "Well, as long as it's gonna be this easy, should be smooth sailing yeah...?"

Adrienne was out of rounds again. She holstered one weapon and pulled a clip out of the pocket of a backpack she'd been carrying, reloading the gun, ripping a glove off, and swiping a hand over it to use her powers for precognitive readings, as had become her habit. She saw a team swarming them, led by Mutate Amara, who she really didn't want to fight again.

"Shit." She read it again, hoping things would change, but saw the same images: Amara frying them all. After reloading the second weapon and confirming the same outcome a third time, she cursed again. "I think we're about to be severely fucked," she called out to the group.
