Wanda's team moves in from the flank, and encounters mutate Callie on the beach.

From where she was standing on the Citadel grounds, Mutate 557 could almost smell the salt of the sea in the distance. It was a tranquil scene: blue sky, blue sea, white sand dotted with baobabs and grass, and a team of Magistrates at her back, alert and ready to fight.

The enemy was approaching, and she had been sent to stop them.

From what Wanda could see was that next to the wall were men and women backing one of their own to stop them - too bad they were standing next to that same wall when Wanda brought it crashing down on their heads. A few tweaks of the chaos lines and a well placed hex bolt at the shattering point meant that their opponents dropped from too many to one.

When the wall came down Catseye leapt into action, attacking the plant armour with her claws and teeth, ripping large chunks of it away and trying her best to dodge the vines and thorns hampering her. She could feel the little stabs piercing through her fur and the poison beginning to enter her system as bits of the armour were flung everywhere. Her healing factor was working on the poison but eventually it started to get the better of her, and just as she was wrenching the last of the armour away, her vision swam. She managed to jump clear before she slumped onto the ground in a dune and lost consciousness.

The cat was on the ground. Mutate 557 walked over and kicked the flea trap over with a smile. Stupid animal still hadn't learned its lesson. Tthere was no time to celebrate, however, as others were still approaching, and with her armor gone and needing time to fully rebuild itself she needed another way to defend herself. She crouched down, reached into a small pouch that had fallen off her body during the attack, and blew the powder in her hand at those attackers.

A little poison ought to do the trick.

Cammie kept moving forward. The poison actually felt good, and she took a deep breath. It didn't make her high, but it was the closest thing, she reasoned, "Feed me, bitches," she said laughing, jumping in closer, "I like it."

The lack of plant life meant that her armor could not regrow itself as quickly as it used to. But she could manipulate the fallen pieces into twisting themselves together and forming a sword. Mutate 557 growled as she fought back against the tart who seemed immune to her poison.

"That's it, eyes on Cammie," Pixie spoke softly to herself as she tracked the enemy. Then, certain that Callie was distracted, she released a cloud of dust and fanned it right toward her with her wings- this trick was the only way to get a good concentration of dust at the target from this distance.

Having already been hit with the dust once before, Mutate 557 knew that the attempt was futile, and she smiled. Another one who had failed to learn her lesson. She continued to circle and swipe at the three versions of the green armed girl while in the distance the initial small force of foes grew to a cast of dozens. There were too many to keep track of. But no matter, she could feel the creeping vines beneath the sand and called to them to rise up and strike at all those who dared to go against the country of Genosha.

Wanda had barely taken three steps before the ground around her exploded as vines erupted from the ground, throwing sand in every direction. She cursed and tried to dodge but there were too many and they were too fast. Before she could even comprehend what was happening, the vines had wrapped themselves tightly up her legs and trapped her arms. She was trapped and event though she'd mostly gotten away from hand movements for her powers, she was off guard enough that for a moment, her concentration was completely shot.

Pixie saw the explosion of roots ripple the round below and darted up, but not quickly nor high enough to avoid the vine that wrapped around her calf and ankle, pulling her back down. She let out a scream, which tapered off as she was pulled into the range of some of her own dust and ensnared by another vine. "Help," she squeaked, unable to tell exactly which way she was facing.

Hearing Wanda and Pixie scream, Matt dashed over, avoiding the roots through a series of flips and other gymnastics moves to keep his movements random, but also because he could hear where they were about to come up to avoid them. Stabbing the roots, he tried to get the two women free using a knife he'd picked up off some Genoshan guard. It was a little ridiculous for the blind kid to have a knife, but he felt better with it and now it was even coming in handy. Sometimes, his powers sucked in terms of defense, but they had their uses other times. "That help?" he asked, still cutting through the thick vines.

"Thanks," Pixie replied as she woozily got to her feet. She felt shaken and disoriented, but managed to jerk away from another vine.

A vicious stomp sent the last vine trying to reach back for Wanda skittering back into the ground. "Let's not do that again," she ground out, easing back from the churned up ground. "Matt, keep an eye out for more of these." She paused and grimaced. "Well, in a matter of speaking. If she sends them after us again, you'll be the first person to probably realize it."

"I got it," Matt agreed, indicating that he understood her meaning and that he'd take care of it. Then he shifted his grip on the knife just in case he needed to use it again. Hearing more roots under the soil, he dutifully began whacking away at them with gusto.

No more little tricks. Mutate 557 reached back into the small bag, rummaging around for a moment before pulling her hand out and digging it into the sand. With a sardonic smile, she moved back and watched as a plant sprung forth, slithering it's stem along the ground, a bloom budding on its end until it reached the biggest woman; she was obviously a woman. As it reached toward the sky, the bud opened up into a brightly colored pitcher, continuing to grow bigger and bigger, before it bent over and engulfed its prey within its hollow tube.

Blackness. Suffocating tightness. Pain. Those were the only sensations Wanda had as the monster flower that had been created swallowed her in one go. She thrashed and tried to flail around as panic ripped through her mind. It brought her back to that trapped existence that would have been her fate if Chthon had allowed it and the Gamemaster's attempts at controlling everything around her. But this was different. Eventually, this this would suffocate her completely or eat her before it got to that part.

Wanda wanted to scream but couldn't. It wouldn't let her.

Not knowing what else to do, Pixie zipped back into the air and resumed crop-dusting the area with the dust. "Be careful!" she warned Cammie. "Something is going seriously wrong."

Cammie continued her beating of everything in the area. Her toxic touch worked just as well as plants as it did on people and she was slowly and surely making her way to Callie - and at least keeping Pinky the Bald distracted and off of everyone else. But the longer it went on, and the more toxin the plant was putting off, the weirder she started feeling.

It took a lot of a hit with something she had never come in contact before to overload her system and it hadn't happened in so long that she had almost forgotten what it felt like. The sudden dizziness sent her reeling as her vision wavered.

"Not good... not good!"

Pixie swore and quickly grabbed Cammie under her armpits, dragging her up and away. "We need to get out now!" Struggling to keep a good grip on the other woman, she hauled both their asses towards safety.

The noises the plant was making were Not Good. Not good at all. This was probably a lot like what a million giant snakes would sound like in the ground or something similar. They were expanding though, rapidly. "GET DOWN!!" he yelled, gripping his knife tightly. He was going to kill that damn thing before it got him if he could!

Mutate 557 stumbled. Beads of perspiration ran down her face as she fought to regain control of her plants, her weapons. They would not win. She would stop them. Mutate 557 would never admit defeat. She would give her life for Genosha if that would keep her country safe. That was the job she was tasked with, and she would not fail. Nothing, not even fatigue or dizziness, would stop her. Not now, not ever.

There was enough air for the moment to allow Wanda to breath but she knew that wasn't going to last for much longer. Taking small breathes, she tried to think through the panic that was threatening to wash away reason. Struggling physically wasn't helping at all - the inside of the plant was tight and hot which allowed for next to no movement. But, she thought, she didn't need to move to use her powers.

If Remy had been there, she could have kissed him.

No one had to know that Wanda kept her eyes close when her powers turned on, unwilling to see the claustrophobic space of the inside of the plan illuminated with the rings of energy. She was barely holding onto her coping skills at the moment as it was. But it proved useful in one way - it allowed her to take her powers in full blast and, quite literally, shove it down the throat of the plant that was doing its best to eat her.

And plants have roots.

She couldn't see it but she sure felt it when something went up and the plant around her shuddered and shook.

Pixie flung herself to the ground as it vibrated with energy. She tried to make herself as small a target as possible, bracing herself for whatever was coming.

Cammie also dived for cover, all to happy to be closer to the ground with her vision going from normal color to black and white and back again as her body tried to adjust to the overload of the brand new thing it had just been pelted with.

While the others were fighting EvilCallie, Catseye had had time to recover from the poisoning (and the kicking. She was seriously going to thwapp Callie for that) and now she had a clear shot to pounce. She went in claws first with the tackle, knocking the mutate back and rapping her head against the ground sharply. Twice to knock her out. And once more because of the kicking.

Now she was struggling. Thrashing about and trying to get to one of the holes she'd managed to punch through the giant plant thanks to her powers. But it was hard going until a shadow appeared next to her and slashed open one of the larger holes. Her hand shot through the hole and gripped the edge of the plant and then she found an arm. Grabbing onto the shirt, Wanda braced herself on something and pulled, clearing her head through the opening and then the rest as the person yanked backwards. For a moment, she was stuck and then she tumbled free and onto the ground, retching as her body desperately tried to free itself of the gunk she'd managed to inhale while being in that damned plant.

Hearing labored breathing, Matt realized perhaps a moment too late that there was someone inside the plant. That could not be good. He was having trouble of keeping track of everyone in the melee, but he didn't think twice as he made his way over, knife in hand. Stabbing the plant, he cut into it until he could get a hand in, then he reached in to try to find the owner of the heartbeat he was listening to. "Come on!" he yelled, finally grabbed what felt like a wrist and hauling backwards along with the knife.
Finding her feet, Wanda staggered over to where Catseye and Callie were. Callie was very much unconscious and, unlike Yvette, Wanda figured they would have an easier time if they brought her along. And unlike last time they were far more prepared.

With a cry, Matt fell, Wanda on top of him, hurling as she tried to breath. Ugh. Now he had throw up on him on top of everything else. "You okay?" he gasped, trying not to breathe and failing. He couldn't ask anything else as he too began to retch, just because of Wanda and the smell. Ugh. He was never eating salad again. Ever.

"Grab her," she said, trying to wipe off the muck and crap from her face and upper torso. The fact of the matter was that she soaked and caked with plant ... shit and it really managed to piss her off. Every move reminded her that something was oozing in places where things shouldn't ooze. "And let's get the hell out of here."

Catseye briefly considered dragging Callie along by the scruff of the neck in her BigCat form, but then remembered about the poisoning that had happened when she'd pierced Callie's skin. And then remembered that this was supposed to be Callie, her friend, and you didn't really drag friends around by the scruffs of their necks. That was what ears were for! Except okay she wasn't going to drag her by the ears either. She shifted back into girlform, crying out as the stomach pains hit her but shoving them to the back of her mind, and threw Callie over her shoulder in a fireman's carry. "You smell gross," she told Wanda cheerfully.
