Laurie and Scott trip over one another on the stairs and plans are hatched.

Scott walked down the staircase towards the main hall. Ever since the fight with Moreau he had been feeling a little weak and under the weather, getting out of the prison had helped but he wanted to get away and spend some time alone with his thoughts in the Sun room. He was so focussed on his goal, that he failed to notice Laurie sitting on the stairs watching people come and go through the main hall. Failed to notice her that is until he stumbled over her legs and grabbed at the bannister to stop himself from rolling headfirst down the stairs. "Laurie?" he asked as he pulled himself up, "What are you doing?"

"Curing world hunger," Laurie replied, the immediate smart-ass answer already out there in the world before her brain had a chance to connect the fact that this was basically her boss, and thus had the ability to assign her many extra, horribly boring training sessions, or worse yet, sit her out. "Oh, hi Mr Summers, I'm just reading."

She held up the copy of Molecular Gastronomy she'd been idly browsing through as an excuse to sit quietly on the stairs rather then move elsewhere.

Scott glanced down at the proffered book, "Molecular Gastronomy?" he asked with an amused expression on his face. "That sounds....well I didn't realize that Molecules required cooking for." he teased gently as he settled down on the steps just below Laurie.

"It's about the science of food," Laurie explained, turning her head to watch people walking past, this particular spot always had somebody moving, it was why she'd picked it. There was very few moments to be alone with your own thoughts in a space such as this. "It's quite good."

"Planning on getting into cooking then?" Scott asked as he followed Laurie's gaze. He could understand the need to be around other people, to see them if not interact with them. "I've never been too much of a cook," he confided, "I prefer to eat out than to eat in if I'm alone. Or of course see what Lorna has in the kitchen."

"Mr Summers, I've always been into cooking," Laurie reminded him gently, her smile a little strained as she continued to watch the people below them. "Maybe not so much lately, but I was once apart of Lorna's advanced cooking class. I don't really like eating alone at all."

Scott nodded absentmindedly, he had forgotten that. "There is something special about eating a meal in a group," he agreed, "Sometimes you just get so caught up in work so I don't have time to do much more than load up a plate in the kitchen rather than stop in for a real meal."

"Dangers of the job," Laurie replied with the ghost of a smile as she marked her place in her book. "You should take better care of yourself, as leader you can't afford to allow yourself to neglect the basic physical needs of your body. We could always organise eating meals as a team if it would help?"

"I eat well enough," Scott noted with a smile, "Lorna normally leaves something healthy around. Although it's always nice to know someone cares." He looked and Laurie thoughtfully, "A team meal might be nice...but can you imagine the logistics of getting everyone together into one place at the same time to eat?"

"Any bigger then organising meals for an entire mansion?" Laurie responded with a sudden grin. She'd been part of Lorna's advanced cooking class at one time, and they'd always had a sort of organised chaos when it came to make sure all the students, teachers and various visitors got fed. "You could always ask Lorna to organise it. She's good at that sort of thing."

"Well the whole mansion doesn't normally eat at the same time," Scott thought about what he had just said and a shudder passed through him as he visualized the chaos of a mansion wide meal.  In the wake of the shudder though a smile emerged onto Scott's face as he grinned at Laurie. "You know perhaps we should get the whole mansion together for a meal. It might be worth it just to see the kitchens go crazy."
"Lorna would murder us in our sleep, but it would be entirely worth it just for the novelty of having everyone sitting down at once," Laurie admitted, his smile sparking a small amount of comfort inside her. It didn't matter, as long as they could smile and talk about things like this, the darkness out there didn't matter. "Think the Professor would be up for playing head of table?"
Scott's face remained calm although inside he felt a small ebullient feeling as Laurie's mood appeared to brighten. He didn't know exactly why Laurie was so down, although he could make a good guess at it. "I think we could convince him to give it a shot, I think he probably needs it as much as any of us do. Maybe more."

"I say we do it then," Laurie replied, standing up from her spot on the stairs and offering Scott her hand, even if she knew he didn't really need the help to stand up. "I figure there's no time like the present."
Scott took the proffered hand pulling himself up, "After you." he gestured in the direction of the kitchen with a smile, "shall we go and spring this on Lorna?"
"I think we shall," Laurie declared with a wide grin, motioning for Scott to go ahead of her before she brought up the rear on the way down the stairs, and toward Lorna's doom.
