Lorna & Kurt: Late Morning
Jul. 2nd, 2012 11:03 amLorna and Lili go and visit Kurt and Triscuit for a doggie play date. They talk about doggie reunions, Kurt's new girlfriend and the Fourth Of July
“Wait Lili..." Lorna chased her dog down the hall until she stopped in front of Kurt's door. Lily sat down and looked up at Lorna if saying, 'Hurry up and open it.' "I told you to wait." Turning to the door she knocked on the door and waited, hoping Kurt was there and wanted to hang out and have a Doggie Play Date.
There was a storm of excited barking from the other side of the door, and when Kurt opened it he was clearly trying to restrain an escape attempt. "Triscuit, sit. Hello, Lorna."
Lili responded to the barking with a woof of her own, her tail waggling with excitement. "'Allo Kurt. Are you busy? Was wondering if you like to go for a walk and let the dogs play?"
"Not too busy for that", was the cheerful response. "And it is too long since the dogs spent time together. I would love to."
"Agree. It is about time for a doggie reunion." Lorna said and stepped back away from the door. "Plus, we haven't talked in a while either."
"Very true." He glanced down at the excited dog at his feet and
nodded. "One moment to fetch his leash and I will be ready to go."
"Okay. I'll be right here." Lorna said as Lili waited patiently for both Kurt and Triscuit to come out, her tail still wagging.
When man and dog emerged, Triscuit took the chance to yank on his extendable leash and bowl Lili over with exuberance. Kurt looked down at them, shaking his head and laughing. "You would think I never took him anywhere."
"Dogs are wonderful creatures, always excited to see another dog, or person that they know." Lorna said, smiling at the two dogs as they greeted each other in typical dog fashion. "Come guys lets go outside!"
Looking over at Kurt, "How are you my friend?"
He gave her a genuine smile. "Better for the visit to my family. Just some time away to relax did wonders."
"I think a little R'n'R is good for the body and soul." Lorna said to Kurt as they walked down the hall. "But is there anything new with you?"
"Well, you could say that." His mouth quirked into a more amused edge to the smile. "Apparently you missed that I am now seeing Jubilee."
"Wait wait wait..you are dating Jubes?" Lorna held out her hand to stop Kurt from walking as Lorna thought she was hearing things wrong. "When did this happen? Not saying I ain't happy for you but people usually talk when they are in the kitchen and I hear everything."
He chuckled and turned back towards her. "A little while after we came back. We spent quite a lot of time together in Genosha, it... changed things."
"Ah, so recently. Well that is good. I am glad for you two" Lorna started to walk again and walked outside moment later. "Okay go..." Lorna let Lili off the leash and watched her dog.
"Very recently", he confirmed, and leaned down to unclip Triscuit's leash in turn, allowing him to race off after his mother. "And how have you been?"
"I have been doing well. Feeding the inhabitants of the school has kept me busy." Lorna said, thinking about her life in the past weeks. "But I am doing good. Thinking about planning something for the Fourth of July, for those who have nothing to do and are not going anywhere."
"A barbecue is the tradition, yes?" Kurt asked. "I am sure everyone will appreciate it."
"Yes. Maybe your girlfriend likes to be in charge with the fireworks?" Lorna said, grinning at him. "Since she is probably the only one I trust around fireworks."
"I imagine she will jump at the chance", he said with a grin in return. "She has provided the display in years past, after all, and can do a very impressive one with no money or gunpowder used."
"True. Just don't want her to think all I need her for doing holidays is that she can do fireworks." Lorna said as she stopped walking and stood in the sun.
"I will do the inviting, if you like", he offered. "Although knowing Jubilee, copious amounts of food will be all she will ask in return."
"I already have a list of all the food that will be needed. I think Fred or Wade will be doing the BBQ. Maybe Kyle would be in on it too. I just supply the meat and the veggies." Lorna laughed at a thought. "It is like the one day of the year where I don't to actually cook anything."
Kurt grinned back. "Perhaps you should go all the way with that and just sit in a deckchair for the day. And have people bring you cool drinks."
"The drinks with the umbrellas in it. I like the way you think Kurt. I like the way you think." Lorna said with a firm nod and laughed.
