Scott, Megan and Meggan arrive and get into costume.

Scott pulled his car up into the parking spot and looked over at the faireground. He still wasn't entirely sure how Lorna had convinced him to come out and participate in this. He shrugged, well since he was here he might as well enjoy it, and it was a nice day for it. He turned to face his passengers, "Well here we are," he said with a smile as he pushed open his door to get out of the car.

Meggan had never been to a Renaissance Fair, but what she had read about them sounded like fun. Finding a period costume and dressing up for a while could be seriously entertaining, depending on what there was. She climbed out, taking a look around at the incredible decorations. Oh! And the signs pointing the way, made to look old timey and worn to the costume booth and other fair things. “Yeah. I’ll see if there’s a maiden costume that fits…or maybe Maid Marian,” she mused. Or even something else like a barmaid if it looked right, they likely had so many choices.

"Oooo nice," Pixie gushed as they reached the costume booth, which was overflowing with clothes and accessories. "What are these?" She picked up a pair of what looked like pair of armored cups. There was also a matching Viking helmet. She held it up to Scott. "Oh, it's like shoulder armor or a bra or something." She giggled. "Should I be something accurate to the time, or silly?"

Scott poked through the pile of clothes looking for something in his size. "Well that depends, how silly are you feeling today?" he replied. "As long as you don't come dressed as a spartan or roman I think you should be ok." He pulled a jesters costume out of the pile and looked at it with disdain, no...definitely not.

“Medium to high levels of silly might work today,” Meggan suggested. Everyone was dressing up, and she thought they needed some silly. She held up a dress that wouldn’t be out of place on someone serving ale in a rustic tavern, before wrinkling her nose. That was…she wasn’t sure if she could pull that off, even if she knew she wouldn’t be stumbling over it. Maybe one that wasn’t as plunging neckline, heading straight into bosom-spilling. But those pants and that tunic she'd just locked eyes on might work for a highwaywoman, which was tempting, too…

Dropping the jesters costume back on the pile Scott rooted through it before pulling out a green highway man's costume, "This will do," he muttered to himself, "Robin Hood." Scott smiled as he stepped back and listened to the girls choosing their costumes, perhaps there would be an archery tournament out here. That would be fun.

Pixie next spotted a long green dress with dagged sleeves that draped low. "I like this. It's kinda witchy." She pulled it on over her head, over her halter top and jeans. "What do you think, Meggan?" It had laces that tied up both the front and back. The sleeves and hem were frayed, but it lent an interesting texture to the fabric. "If I tied it up properly and added a belt or something?"

Meggan looked over from another dress she had rejected, which could only be described as more Eowyn than Renaissance. She'd settled on boots under whatever she would end up selecting. She nodded her approval, because that one looked good on Pixie. “You could almost be…some kind of Renaissance type of Lady.” She didn’t know all the ranks, but it had to be somebody up there. “Here’s a lighter green belt….it could blend in.”

"Thanks, that is a good color and I like the pattern on it," said Megan, taking the belt and draping it over an arm while she rummaged some more. "Ooo, here's an underskirt that's almost the same light green. If I'm going to be from the Renaissance I need some layers." Never mind that it was quite hot, and they'd be spending a lot of time out in the sun, "Hey, cool boots!" She exclaimed as she looked down and noticed Meggan's footwear.

“Thanks! Yeah, maybe at least one extra layer there.” Nobody would be able to spot the little straps twisting up her leg once she was wearing the right dress. Maybe she could beg to keep them if they didn’t hurt her feet by the end of the day. Oh, and now she’d found two dresses that were beautiful to her. Red, with gold trim and sash, and one that was simply robin’s egg blue. She held up one of the two selections, having slipped the blue one on, just to be certain it fit. “Which looks better, red maiden or blue maiden? They could also work as a serving woman, bringing rounds of cool, refreshing water to the masses,” she joked. If they looked bad on her, she could go the highwaywoman route.

"Those are both very petty." Pixie tilted her head from left to right, surveying the two dresses. "Let's see, well, the red one looks more noble to me and the blue one reminds me more of a serving girl or country maid. Are you going to be a noble Lady or saucy Wench?"

“A saucy serving girl, I think,” Meggan said, as she looked down at the blue one she’d thrown on. Why not combine ideas? She didn’t want to be an upper class noblewoman, not today.

“Well, middle of the road saucy, anyway. Not too much.” It wasn’t too short, and it didn’t make her feel like a cape should be thrown across the back. Another pro—there weren’t nearly as many things to lace together, just the front and a little to the side. With a tan belt slipped over to complete it? “Blue it is, then,” she smiled as she returned the red one to its former place on the top of the pile to her left.

Scott settled his hat on his head flipping the feather back out of his face. The woodsman costume was mainly green, and he'd scrounged up the perfect hat to go with it. If he was going to be an outlaw then at least he could be a good one. "Are you two ready?" he asked. "We should probably go find Lorna and the others and see what the faire has to offer today."

"I'm ready!" Pixie replied as she finished belting her outfit. "Hey, nice, you look like Robin Hood," she observed as she looked up. "I'm not sure if I look Renaissance or Wicca, but it'll work." Her wings tended to confuse any costume. "Anyway, let's go. We've got wenching to do."

Sam, Molly and Krovus arrive in another car and get into costume as well.

The Renaissance Faire was a pretty busy spot indeed. Seeing the line ups and the many people milling about - many in period costume and heartily in character - Sam was glad that Lorna had left them tickets at the entrance booth to get in. Without them they'd probably be stuck in the lineup to buy tickets, but as it was they were able to scoot ahead to the will call area and bypass the waiting.

Approaching the window, Sam doffed his imaginary cap and tried his best to get into the spirit of things. "Good day, milady. Party of three here, I do beseech thee, coulds't thou check whether there, uh, doth be tickets reserved under the name Samuel Guthrie, perchance?"

Ok, maybe he was overdoing it a bit but the day was just beginning.

Wearing her knit Viking helmet hat, Molly peered up at Sam and giggled. She glanced around, watching the people running around in costumes. Knights and maidens and um...other people. It was beyond awesome!

"Sir Samuel of Guthrie!" she added. It sounded cooler.

Korvus stood behind the pair, feeling quite self-conscious in his self-made armor and with Nandaki strapped across his back. Comically small in comparison, a length of yellow yarn was wrapped repeatedly around the grip and the top guide of the open scabbard. While he looked like he fit in, he knew that he wasn't historically accurate at all. Everyone said it didn't matter. "People did not speak like that during the Renaissance. I believe that accent is for theatrical purposes." He said softly to Sam and Molly, leaning in as if it were a secret.

"That's true but, well, theatrics is kinda the whole point here. Just go along with it." Sam whispered back before turning to the lady who had now produced their tickets. "Ah, forsooth! Thankee, fair maiden, on behalf of myself, Sir Samuel of Guthrie, my mighty friend Sir Korvus of Rook'shir, and the lovely Princess Molly the Powerful!" He gave a little bow and then turned to give each of them their tickets.

Molly let out a bit of a squeal of happy as she took the ticket and adjusted her hat before flexing her muscles to show the powerful part. Her hat looked weird with her wearing her dress but that was okay. She bowed too instead of giving a curtsy cause even if she was a Princess she could still fight and stuff.

"Yeah!" She tilted her head thoughtfully, tapping her chin. "Korvus' name sounds the Medievalest..." If names could sound that way. Sorta like that World of Warcraft stuff that Kyle and Dori played.

"Now what do we do?"

She'd never been to a Ren Faire before!

"I believe we enter." Korvus observed, moving off toward the main gateway, identifying it by the large number of people always coming and going.

"That, Sir Korvus, is precisely what we shall do." Reaching down, Sir Samuel offered his arm to Molly if she so chose to accompany him inside. "Right this way, Princess and Sir!" The entrance wasn't too far away from the gate and now that they had their tickets they'd be able to walk right in and start enjoying themselves.

"Verily," Molly said, beaming up at Sir Sam. She'd heard that somewhere. She forgot where though.

Linking her arm with his, Molly strode with her two knights inside.

As they entered Sam located the costume shop. He'd managed to find a shirt that might have been passable for the Faire, but his footwear options (steeltoed boots do not Ren Faire footwear make) and other clothing needed major work. It was his plan to pick out a few things to better fit in while he was there.

Sam turned to Korvus, nodding to Molly. "Sir Korvus, would y'all do me the honour of guarding the fair Princess Powerful for a little bit whilst I check out yon shoppe?" He gestured to the costume shop, which looked really busy - lots of people were coming in and out, those leaving with all manner of cool costumes. Hopefully there'd be something left that'd fit him, and it might take awhile, so he'd need Korvus to look out for Molly.

Korvus nodded compliantly, looking to Molly, then to some of the games. "It may not be challenging but, if you would like to play these games with me, perhaps we may enjoy the surprised reactions we will inspire together."

Glancing around at the selection, Molly squinted. All over them looked really fun. She bit her lip trying to decide. "Um...Ring toss?"

It didn't take Sam too long to return, since despite the big crowd at the shop there wasn't really a lot of variety left in the costumes, especially given his size. The more popular outfits - those of knights, rogues, brigands, what have you - had sold out fairly quickly, leaving just one that fit him and met his price range.

Striding over to Korvus and Molly, Sam held a little plastic facsimile of a lute in one hand. On his head was a fancy purple hat, complete with a long, green feather sticking out of it, which matched the purple and green doublet and vest combination he wore. The last part of the outfit consisted of a puffy pair of green shorts and purple tights, which he'd hemmed and hawed over and somehow decided he'd look odder without that part of the costume on than with them on; a decision he was starting to reconsider as he strolled over to the kids.

"So, um... yon costume shoppe hath not a large stock of wares, I'm afraid." He gave a wry smile and faked playing a little tune on his fake lute for Molly's benefit. Do it for the kids, do it for the kids... was quickly becoming his mantra.

"Oh... that is... not so good." Korvus said with a short shake of his head, standing with Molly at the ring toss. "I do not know if that is historically accurate but, if it is, this will change my perspective of the Renaissance."

"I..." Sam really had nothing else to say to that. He looked down at himself, then over at Molly, who was hopefully entertained at least, if nothing else. "I got nothin'." Strum strum on the fake lute.

Molly slowly turned around and upon seeing Sir Sam burst out with a series of giggles that she quickly tried to contain by covering her mouth. It didn't work very well.

"That is awesome!" she beamed then grabbed both guy's hands to drag them into the Ren Faire at large.

"Come on, let's go!"
