Compared to the weeks of recovery from the events of Genosha - which recovery was still far from complete and would be ongoing for quite some time for all parties involved, Sarah assumed - having a graduation ceremony was a welcome change of pace. The day seemed to be flying by to her, and it had yet to completely sink in that she was a high school graduate now. How had that happened again?

Sarah was on her way back to her room to get ready for the dance that evening, which promised to be a lot of fun, however she stopped when she saw Megan walking ahead of her, one of her fellow graduates.

"MEGAN!" She ran toward her, arms opened wide. "Ohmygosh we graduated! I think. We did graduate, right? We did it!" Her arms reached out for a big hug with her friend and former roommate.

"Sarah! Yes, we did!" Megan beamed at her friend, returning her embrace and turning it into a rocking hug. After Genosha, they really had been in limbo for a while, not really students but not graduates either. She stumbled and had to release to catch herself. "I just got these yesterday," she complained of the vintage 4 1/2-inch heels, blushing. But in true Pixie-style, she had hand-painted WWII bomber style motifs on them. "Look at you! You look so beautiful!"

Pulling back, Sarah reflexively moved to brush back some of her hair, which still hadn't grown back in as much as she'd liked so instead her fingers found her wig. She looked down at the shoes, whistling at their height. "Oh man, those are beautiful, but huuuuuuge. I don't think I could handle those. And wait... did you paint that on them?" She bent down a little, taking a closer look at the decorations on the shoes. "That's amazing, Megan, wow!" She smiled, blushing a little as she straightened up. "Aww, shucks, thanks, you do too! This is going to be so fun!" They really needed it to be; after the holding pattern they'd been in since Genosha, this was exactly what the doctor ordered, or so Sarah figured.

"Thanks! I hadn't had the energy to paint in a while. Then I found some plain heels at Value Village - I think I finally found a new hobby." She rotated one foot so she could examine her own handiwork. It looked so much more grown-up than her painted sneakers that she'd done for years. Gone also were her usual adornments of beaded jewelry in favor of a simple stand of pearls. "I am going to dance all night, even if I have to lose the shoes," she vowed, smiling. "How about you? Did you bring a date?"

"Very very pretty, you did a great job!" Sarah wasn't an expert in heels, far from it, but even she admired those that her friend had so beautifully transformed. "Me too, it's been so long since I've danced, I can't really remember the last time." It was probably at either the Hallowe'en party that she didn't want to remember, or at Yvette's birthday party at Silver that she didn't want to remember either, really. Blushing a little, even though her and Layla's relationship was hardly top secret, she nodded. "Mmmhmm, Layla's going to come with. It's going to be awesome."

"Cool! I can't wait to see Layla's outfit." She hadn't been sure if Layla was going on not, since dances weren't really her style. "Is she going to wear a suit and be all dapper and stuff?" Their school didn't do a lot of cheesy dances, but when there was a dance at Xavier's it was always a beautiful affair. "Oh hey, let's remember to grab Angel or jump into a photo at some point! I want to remember how everything looked tonight..."

"I think so, yeah, it's going to look great, I just know it!" She had gone with something simple herself, just a plain polka dot dress that should meet the 40's criteria, with some black stockings with a neat pattern on them and a matching black hat to top it all off. Everything went with black so she figured she'd be safe with that. "Definitely, she mentioned it on her journal and I asked her if she'd please snap a few pics of us, I'm sure she can do that! I want to remember it too, it's a big day after all."

"It is a big deal, really. And we get to enjoy this shiny moment before... before whatever's next." Megan's all-black eyes misted slightly.

"Nuh-uh, no worrying about tomorrow." Sarah nodded and then linked arms with Megan. "Tonight's just going to be about having fun and celebrating what we've earned, right? Right." The thought of worrying about the future had crossed her own mind more than once lately but she wasn't about to let it creep up and ruin her friend's night, not if she had anything to say about it, no sir.

"Yes," Megan agreed, her heels clicking on the pavement in a happy sound as they headed to the ballroom. It came out as a really Welsh-sounding "oes" - which it rarely did unless she slipped up. "I am going to have to steal your date for one dance, though." Really, nothing could be more fun than spending the evening with her two favorite friends.

"Of course, there shall be many dances with many people tonight and it will be many- no, wrong word. It will be much fun!" She grinned as they made their way to the festivities, looking forward to the night as well.
