Sarah goes looking for Layla but runs into Sue instead. The two meet for the first time face to face and chat before the big dance.

Sarah was just about sure she'd finished her ensemble for the dance that evening, having finally dug out something that'd fit Maddie's theme in the back of her closet. She just wanted to make sure that her outfit would match whatever Layla was going to wear, however, which normally wasn't a big worry of hers but, well, this was the Graduation Dance and all. So she'd grabbed the dress, holding it in front of her with one hand while the other held the shoes she planned to wear, then steamrolled down the hall to Layla's room, not bothering to knock as she entered. The blonde was thankfully there, standing back on to her, so she launched into her speech without pausing to say hi.

"So this and this, yes? They match well enough, right? Please don't say I'm a complete fashion failure." Sarah held the dress up, blocking her view as she lifted it up and into her field of vision, and moved the shoes a bit lower at the same time for the other girl to see.

Sue was, well taken aback would have been putting it mildly; this brunette who she had never met had just come strolling into her room and asked her opinion about her clothes. Clearly, the blonde thought, she had a lot to learn about the mansion. "Uhh, hi," she hedged as she pursed her lips she examined the presented ensemble carefully, "It's not bad, but with a dress like that you really need shoes like...where did they go?" Turning away from Sarah Sue started rooting through her cupboard, "I know I had them somewhere," she muttered.

Wrinkling her nose up as she realized the voice she'd heard wasn't her girlfriend's, Sarah wondered if she'd wandered into the wrong room or not. A quick glance around told her that it appeared to be the right one, so she lowered the dress to see exactly who it was she was talking to instead of Layla. The blonde girl had turned around again so she still wasn't sure who it was. Not knowing what else to say or do, Sarah quickly pulled the dress back up, hiding her face as she blushed. "I, well, um, maybe..." What did one say in such a situation? She had no idea so she just stayed quiet and hidden behind the dress. Maybe the other girl would go away or something. Oh lordy.

"Victory!" Sue crowed as she pulled her head out of her closet and held up a pair of shoes to show the strange girl who had invaded her room, "These should go much better with your dress. So, umm who are you and why are you in my room?" she asked curiously, she didn't normally offer to loan clothes to strangers but then no-one had ever walked into her room asking for advice. Or walked into her room ever, actually she had never been somewhere where there were room and suite mates.

Peeking out tentatively from behind the dress, Sarah gave Sue a little smile, then let one side of the dress fall as she waved at the other girl. "Hi, I'm Sarah, I'm... I'm a friend of Layla's. This... I thought this was her room." Where had she ended up exactly? Oh dear. She checked out the shoes that the other girl was holding out, which actually did match her dress much better than what she'd picked out herself. "...ooh, yeah, you're right though."

"You can borrow them if you want," Sue offered holding out the shoes to Sarah. "You just missed Layla, she left muttering something about dapper and Yoda," Sue didn't understand that, Yoda was a little green alien from Star Wars. While he was awesome, he definitely wasn't dapper, if anything he was the absolute opposite. "You got the right room," she told Sarah with a smile, "I'm Sue, Layla's roommate."

Swallowing her pride over her faux pas, Sarah let the dress down completely and reached out to take the shoes. A quick glance at the inside of the shoes showed that they were actually her size, which was great news. "Thanks, Sue, and it's nice to meet you." She would've shook the other girl's hand but both of hers were full at the moment so she just smiled widely at her. "I'm sorry for barging in, I should've known better, it won't happen again, promise." Since Genosha her and Layla had been nearly inseparable and bursting into one another's room was very common, but now she had to remember they both had different roommates and all.

Sue smiled at Sarah, "It's ok," she assured the other girl, "It's not like you caught me at a bad moment or anything, I was just thinking about what to wear tonight." She nodded at Sarah's dress, "looks like you're a few steps ahead of me there." The blonde glared at her closet before flopping down on her bed, "So you and Layla must be close," she commented idly, ""I don't think anyone else has come storming into the room, well yet anyway." Honestly Sue was slightly jealous, she'd never had a friend who she was really close to, at least no-one who just wandered into her room looking for advice.

It could've been worse, Sarah agreed, so she should just have been grateful that it was only slightly embarrassing on her part. "We are, yeah. Really close." She wasn't sure how else to elaborate on that and she didn't know how much Layla had told her new roomie about their dating so she decided to just leave it there for now. "I don't usually come storming in too often, but we do spend a lot of time together, especially lately, so that's kinda why it happened. I'm sorry though." She smiled again and looked at the dress in her hand. "Thanks, it's pretty simple but it should do the trick, I think. And thank you so much for the shoes, that's so awesome, I'll bring them right back or give them to Layla to take back to you asap."

"It's fine, really," Sue replied still smiling, "Don't worry about the shoes, just bring them back when you get the chance, I guess we don't get that many chances to wear formal shoes at school here." She looked at sarah quizzically, "you just graduated right? So what're you gonna do now?"

"Thanks again, they're awesome!" She laid them down next to the pair she'd brought in with her, then folded the dress over her arm again as she nodded. "I did, yup. I'm not really sure, to be honest, it's been... well, it's been a difficult time for me lately, I guess." Sarah could've went into details but they were painful enough to just think about, let alone recount to someone else, and she didn't want to relive them any more than she had to, so she'd just leave it at that. "I'm working now, part time, but maybe I'll step that up or something. I do want to go on to college, maybe after Christmas, we'll see. How about you, do you have any plans?" She wasn't exactly sure when Sue would be graduating but it only seemed fair to return the question.

There was something Sarah was holding back, and it wasn't just her; Sue had noticed that the whole mansion was walking on eggshells. They weren't hiding it exactly but it seemed something had happened recently that everyone was still uncomfortable with. "Survive high-school and go to college, That's always been the plan, both my parents were scientists and that's what I grew up with. I guess it rubbed off on me," Sue said with a grin. "Where do you work?"

"With XFI - X-Factor Investigations. I'm not an investigator or anything though, nothing like that." Sarah shook her head and raised her hands up in front of her lest the other girl get the wrong impression. "Not that I wouldn't want to be or that anything's wrong with that, but I'm just the receptionist slash secretary slash gopher kinda person, I guess?" It wasn't the most concrete job description in the world but then again she didn't have a solid, day-in-day-out set of tasks at work either. "I really like it though, it's a great place with a lot of great people."

Sue nodded slowly, "I remember them, Vanessa and Bishop right?" she queried. "Where are the offices?" the investigator's had saved the blonde's life and she had been hoping for the chance to thank them but they never seemed to come up to the mansion so she'd have to go into the city to find them. "It does sound like a pretty awesome job."

"Mmmhmm, that's them. It's not that far away at all, actually, and it is a pretty awesome job." Sarah grinned, thankful that she had the opportunity to do something like that. "You should come with me sometime, I can totally show you where it is, and around the area a bit."

"Cool," Sue said returning Sarah's grin, "I'd like that, when do you normally go into the office? So what else is there to do around here, I mean apart from the whole school and walking around the grounds."

"Usually in the mornings, the time varies depending on what's going on there, but I'll check my schedule and let you know." She'd have to double check to make sure she agave Sue the right time. It'd be fun to have someone accompany her to work for a change, Sarah thought. "There's always something going on, or so it seems these days, and when there's not there's rides into the city from time to time, Salem Center's not too far away, all kinds of stuff." Even though lately she'd mainly spent her time hanging out with Layla and then between her girlfriend and her twin, there were still tons of options.

"So we're not really stuck out in the middle of nowhere then," Sue replied happily. It's not like she really took advantage of everything available in the city, but it was nice to know the option was there if she ever wanted to. "Let me know about the time," the blonde continued lying back down on her bed, "it's not like I have much to do these days. Is it bad that I'm excited about school starting soon?" she asked the other girl.

"Not at all, it's nice and quiet but not that bad." Sarah grinned, then laughed a little at Sue's excitement. "Not really, I guess, if you're really that bored. I can't say the same for me but it's been... not exciting, but busy around here, so I'm enjoying the break." She didn't want to get all whiny about her recent problems so she switched gears again. "I should go get ready for the dance, but hey, I'll go and check my schedule when I get back to my room and I can text you some dates for us to go to town together, if that sounds good?"

"I'm not bored exactly but it's not really like home either. I guess I just miss the hustle and noise," Sue paused for a moment, "You know I never thought I'd say that," she confided to Sarah. Smiling she nodded, "Sure let me know when you get the chance. Knowing my luck I'd probably end up lost or something if I tried to find the office by myself.. Have fun at the dance tonight." Flashing a grin at the older girn she rolled over to resume her staring match with her closet, it would give up a 1940s style dress if she stared hard enough the blonde figured.
