Korvus and Wade, having finished restoring and beautifying the Impala, decide to take her for a drive.

Korvus had just finished putting the final coat of wax on the Impala's polished black paint. His shirt was balled up on the nearby tool box to avoid possible accidental scratches, leaving him in just jeans and work boots. After glancing around the garage for a moment to make sure no one else was present, he flicked the rag across the hood a couple of times, as he had seen in old movies, before leaning in to very closely observe that area in comparison to the rest of the car which he had waxed according to the instructions given with the product. He came to the conclusion that the act was for theatrical purposes, not practical.

Wiping his hands on the cloth in his hands, Wade grinned. "This," he said, gesturing toward the Impala, "Is pretty awesome. Have you got your license yet?"

"I prefer public transportation." Korvus straightened up, no longer as concerned if he looked uninformed or goofy around Wade, whom was king of goofy. "I have driven the Beetle but it was primarily in the lake. I don't believe that requires a driver's license."

Wade grinned. "No, driving the Beetle in the lake definitely doesn't require a driver's license. Though you should probably get one, just for insurance purposes. And by that I mean like. In case you need to drive someone somewhere or something in an emergency situation." Tossing the cloth onto one of the work benches, Wade walked around the Impala. "Seriously, though - this has been fun."

Korvus returned to his shirt, pulling it on after tucking the rag half into his back left pocket. "I will consider it."

Giving the younger man two thumbs up, Wade paused and then asked, "Don't you want to be able to drive her? You spent all this time prettying her up, after all."

The young man stopped, looked at Wade, looked over the Impala, back to Wade, and shrugged. "I enjoy mechanics. While driving can be useful, I don't have much of a desire to do so. It is easy to do everything I need to here with or without a license."

"Fair point," Wade conceded, nodding easily. "Does that mean you're not interested in cruising into town, though? Cause that'd be a shame."

Korvus moved around to the passenger seat. "It does not." He opened the door and smoothly slid into the seat, lying his arm out the window and along the door after he closed it behind himself.

"Sweet," Wade grinned, grabbing the keys off one of the work benches before opening the driver's side door and sliding in. "I think I want to name her Velma."

"That is not a good name." Korvus said with a shake of his head, curls bouncing. "Black Beauty is an example of a good name for a vehicle, as is Mystery Machine. You should look to those for inspiration."

"You already named the Beetle Black Beauty," Wade pointed out. "And this is not a psychedelically painted creeper-van, so Mystery Machine is out. However, I feel like naming her Velma is a nice homage to the Mystery Machine."

Korvus stated simply, "A car is not a person."

Wade shook his head and leaned forward as he cranked the engine, murmuring, "Don't you listen to him, baby girl. He just doesn't know any better yet." He listened to the motor purr for a moment before putting her in gear and heading out of the garage, a grin spreading over his face again.

"What is the cultural convention for 'cruising?' Is anything expected of me as your navigator?" Korvus asked curiously.

"Cruising is basically just... riding around in the car, seeing and being seen," Wade said. "Letting people appreciate the car and, if we stop somewhere for food - which we totally can, if you want - explaining that we restored Velma here. People will oooh and aaah and we'll explain technical stuff that probably only one person will understand, but all the ladies will think the car is sexy."

Korvus thought over the explanation for a long moment. He decided to not question it. "Is Indian food to your taste? I like to eat food with which I am familiar when I can. That is limited to the city."

"I love Indian food," Wade said, nodding easily. "And after all the tacos we've been having recently, the different spices would be awesome. Any particular restaurants you're interested in hitting up, or should we just drive until we spot one?"

"We need not go anywhere specific. I should be capable of judging authenticity by the appearance well enough to guarantee a moderately authentic experience." Korvus decided.

"Excellent," Wade said, grinning. "And so we roll." Reaching over while still keeping his eyes on the road, he flipped through the box of cassette tapes he'd stuck between the seats and pulled out a mix he'd made specifically for this maiden drive. Putting it in the tape deck he'd insisted they install, he pressed 'play' and let the dulcet tones of WAR's "Low Rider" flow forth.

A character with Jensen Ackles' face, talking to an Impala.

You did that on purpose.
