An X-Force team gathers, and Amanda explains the situation.

"So, I got a call from Rom." Amanda began the briefing without preamble, looking a little uncomfortable as all eyes turned to her. She was much more used to being a supplier of information, not the one in charge of things. Hopefully she'd be able to pass things off to someone more qualified. "Looks like there's trouble of a magical sort brewing in Croydon."

"You going to need to be more specific den dat. No offense to M. Wisdom, but we already shorthanded here." Remy barely looked up from the files. "What do we know and how bad does it have de potential to get?"

"Magical gang war," Amanda supplied, colouring a little. "And there's already been some pretty major property damage, a couple of apartments gutted. Rom's concerned it could spill over and get civilians involved, or, worse, attract the attention of the wrong sorts, like that group that was targeting magic users a few years back."

Marie-Ange blew a piece of her hair off her forehead in annoyance. "Just what we needed, more people than the Daily Mail deciding that London is about to be invaded by evil wizards." She shrugged, and continued on. "I take it they were clearly using magic? Do we have any information on the targets?"

Amanda looked down at the notes she’d taken during the phone call. “Rom wasn’t sure how this started, but from what she said, there’s a magic-using clan out for blood and they aren’t fussy about where they go about it.”

"Okay, so where exactly do we come in?" Doug asked. 'Collateral damage' were not the best words to be hanging over anyone's heads, but it wasn't exactly clear what Romany wanted of X-Force. "Go in, slap everyone down, or what?"

"What have our other London contacts been saying about this?" Wanda threw in thoughtfully; she was already flipping through the rolodex in her mind in an attempt to see who they could possibly reach out to. "Romany might be one of our biggest contacts but if something like this is brewing, the others would - or should - have heard something by now."

"The magic underground is buzzing with it," Amanda replied. "Something like this has the potential to bring grief to everyone. From what I can get, they were hoping it would settle down, but like I said, it seems to be escalating." She looked up from her notes to the faces of her co-workers. "As for what we might do, Rom figures if we can track down the two sides, figure out what's going on and maybe hand out some educational beatings, that ought to do it. It wouldn't take the whole team, even, just enough to split up and hunt down the two camps."

"It feels less like preventing something- which is already happening, and more like butting in a matter that's probably none of our business." Nico had been listening, face going from alert to expectancy, and now to wariness. "I mean, butting in is kind of what we do, but why are the magical locals not taking care of this? Last I knew the peace keeping corps live on the fancier, more likely to get torn down mansion." She even pointed her thumb towards the general and most likely wrong direction of Xavier's. "I mean, it's not like I don't want to check that out, but we just can't blindly enter someone's magical turf."

"The leather brigade aren't properly set up for magic," Amanda pointed out. "And there's enough concern in the magical community about the attention this is bringing to them. The leathers aren't bad at basic investigation, but there's no way most of the community will talk to them. As for why no-one's getting involved..." The older witch spread her hands and gave a wry shrug. "They don't like to get involved with other people's shite. Not until it's actually on their doorstep munching up the cat."

"So, basically situation normal for the magical community then," Jubilee drawled from her position toward the back, her concession to the seriousness of the discussion the fact that she neither had her feet on the table, nor was she balancing her chair on two legs. "So, who do you want over there?"

Amanda started. "Who do I want?" she asked, sounding surprised. "'S not up to me... is it?"

"Magical gang war in England dat Romany Wisdom put us on to. You think dat Cammie be more suited?" Remy said drily. "Remy not convinced dat dis necessarily needs our full attention, but Wisdoms have a way of scenting dese things before day get out of hand, so I'm not inclined to risk it. Besides, I have some side business to take care of." Remy stood up.

"'manda, I want a breakdown of all de related information you can come up wit' in de next twenty-four hours; possible contacts, related events, potential threat profiles, de whole damn works. Take Wanda, Nico and Doug. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it needs to be thorough. Marie-Ange, you can take Jubilee down and talk to de Wizard. Cover IDs across de board. Anyone else got anything?"

"Am I the only one that thinks this sounds like a load of fantasy novel crap? And not even a good one?" Cammie said, leaning back in her chair, "Seriously."

"Oh, I don't know. The setting has some potential for an interesting plot, ja?" David replied drily from his seat beside her, fingers drumming a lazy pattern on a knee. Then, cocking his head to the side, the German man addressed Amanda and Remy. "Unless either of you want me on something else, I can do some preliminary sourcing around."

"Sounds good," Amanda replied, trying to sound like someone in charge. "We've got a plan, let's get to work, yeah?"
