Looking for Layla, Artie finds Sue instead and takes her skating.
"hey sue, what's up? you doing anything?" Artie asked, letting the text float ahead of him as he came into the room. No, he wasn't bored at all now that he'd graduated, though he did sometimes ponder the merits of getting a real job.
Sue held up her I-pad to show Artie the journal article she had been reading, "Nothing really," she answered with a smile, "just catching up on some reading."
"Huh. Cool. I was looking for Layla. We were going to..." he let the words stop and replaced them with an image of a figure on a skateboard on the ramp. "You want to come instead? Or stay here?"
Sue glanced down at her I-pad before looking up at Artie, "That sounds like fun," she replied as she stood up. "That is if you two don't mind having me tag along and bringing down your street cred by falling off the skateboard continuously." she teased.
"I don't know where Lay is right now, so it'd just be us," Artie replied, changing the colour of the text word by word and then "I broke my arm twice on the ramp. I don't get to ever laugh at anyone ever for not being able to skate."
"I think she ran out of here this morning muttering something about Sarah," Sue offered. "Hold on, you broke your arm twice? seriously?" the blonde was definitely looking a little nervous, "that doesn't happen to everyone does it?"
Artie shrugged and showed her an image of a venn diagram where one side had people with both arms in casts and the other, skateboarders. The crossover between the two was an image of him, on a skateboard with both arms in casts and gestured toward the door.
Smiling Sue started towards the door, "So the lesson is to stay away from the ramp until you're good and ready for it?" she teased. "How'd you manage with both your arms broken?"
He smiled. "1 @ a time. I kept falling over / off it. Might keep you on the ground tho." And he'd stuff Roadkill in as much padding as he could manage or Lay'd kill him.
"Awww," Sue pouted jokingly, "that's no fun. What if it's only a small jump?" she grinned hopefully at Artie.
"OK. Sure. Why not?" It'd be fine, right?
"Yes!" The blonde thrust one hand up in the air in victory, a bright grin spreading across her face as she grabbed her skateboard and darted out of the door. Partway down the corridor she span around and beckoning at Artie, "Come on," she said excitedly.
They'd gotten almost the entire way down to the ramp when the already cloudy sky opened and moments later rain and hail began to fall. Artie took one look at Sue and began to run back the way they'd come.
Hearing footsteps behind her Sue turned to see Artie disappearing back the way they had come, and half a second later the girl was chasing him back home. No matter how fast they could run by the time they had made it inside Sue was soaked to the bone. Leaning back against the wall she flicked her hair out of her face to look over at Artie and started laughing.
He grinned in reply, wiping water from his face. "inside?"
"I think that's probably gonna be drier" the girl replied, wringing out her t-shirt.
"yeah. Want to try tomorrow instead?
