Clint visits Tandy in the morning. BACKDATE
Tandy stood up from the couch when she heard a knock on the suite door. Figuring it might be a professor checking in on her after yesterdays news - she had not returned to any of her classes and ended up sleeping on Miss Frost's couch until the wee morning hours. "Clint." Surprised to see the boy standing there, instinctively she wiped her eyes to make sure her make up wasn't smeared - though it was obvious she had been crying earlier. "Come in."
"Hey," Clint said, head tilting slightly to the side even as he stepped past the door Tandy held open. "You missed the ride to Salem High yesterday. Just wanted to make sure everything was okay." He could tell everything wasn't okay now that he saw standing in front of her, but he wasn't sure how to get around to actually asking what was wrong. Instead, he fidgeted a bit, shoving his hands into the pockets on his hoodie.
"Yea. I did." The blonde closed the door behind them and she walked back over to the couch. "I appreciate you stopping by. It means a lot." She looked over at him and settled on telling him straight up. "My parents were murdered over the weekend. I guess you can say I am in the shocked stage now. I am not sure. I feel pretty numb."
"Shit," Clint said, blinking briefly before settling on the couch next to Tandy. "I mean - sorry. I don't... that's messed up." What was he supposed to say to that? "Is there anything I can do?"
"Yea. It is." She turned her head to look at Clint and shrugged in a 'I don't know' way. "You already came over, that is good enough for me. I was going to put on a movie and get lost in it but I got lost in my thoughts. Surprisingly I haven't had a power malfunction yet."
"Well, that's good," Clint said, feeling lamer by the second. "I mean, it's good not to have to deal with that on top of everything else. We could put a movie in, though. I could keep you company, if you like."
"True. Wouldn't want to put someone into the hospital from my daggers. I was going to put in Goonies, The truffle shuffle always makes me laugh, hoping that will work this time."
"Cool," Clint nodded. "Want me to put on the movie? The TV set up looks the same as it is in my suite - you'd just have to tell me where the movie is."
"I think it is in one of these binder..." Pulling out a black CD binder from underneath the coffee table. "I have a lot of movies." She started to flip through them for the correct DVD.
"I know," Clint said, scrubbing one hand against the back of his neck. "Want me to make some popcorn or something?"
A small smile crossed her lips, "Sure. Ah ha found it." Pulling out the DVD from it's resting place.
Clint took the DVD from Tandy and went over to the TV, fiddling around with the settings until he had everything right and then pressing play. "I'll make the popcorn while the previews run - anything else you want me to grab? Water or soda?" He was already heading toward the kitchenette as he spoke.
"Water would be fine, thanks." Tandy grabbed the remote before leaning back into the couch. "I feel like I have been saying this a lot but thanks Clint - for stopping by."
"No problem," Clint said, sticking a bag of popcorn in the microwave and setting the auto-cook. He grabbed a couple glasses and filled them with water, taking them back into the living room and putting them on the table. "That's what friends are for, right?"
"Right." The blonde agreed with him, as she picked up the glass of water. "Clint.." She paused as if she was going to ask something but shook her head a few moments later ."..never mind." The smell of the popcorn started to fill the room. "I think the popcorn is almost ready."
Quirking an eyebrow, Clint headed back into the kitchen to grab the popcorn and a couple napkins. He made it back to the couch just in time for the opening credits and offered the bag to Tandy. "What were you going to say?"
Tandy put down her cup of water before opening the bag, "Nothing. It was nothing. Movie is starting." She reached over him to grab her throw blanket, "Sorry."
"You don't have to keep apologizing," Clint said, shifting the bag so Tandy could spread the blanket out. He munched a handful of popcorn as he faced forward, still curious about what she might've said but unwilling to push the issue.
"I know. I have been saying it a lot. I just...feel so drained and that I might do something wrong...brain isn't all there." Tandy leaned her forehead on his shoulder like she was admitting defeat. "I have a feeling I am going to be saying 'sorry' a lot."
Clint reached up and brushed a few strands of hair out of Tandy's eyes. "I get that. But, y'know. You don't have to worry about apologizing to me, I guess is what I'm trying to say."
"Sorry. I'll stop." Tandy looked up at him and she smiled for the second time the twenty-four hour period since learning about her parents.
Smiling back, Clint decided not to point out that she'd apologized again. He understood that sometimes, things just came out of your mouth when you didn't know what else to say. Shifting around a little so Tandy could lean against him like she did during their Sunday night horror movies if she wanted, he said, "C'mon, movie's on."
Tandy waited until he was settled before she leaned against him, thankful for a normal moment in the sea of emotions that filled her mind and heart.
