Kurt finds a Tandy leaving the Medlab and they go for an early bonfire.

Tandy yawned before putting on her sweater and zipping it up. Putting together the clothes she had come home in and placed them in a plastic bag, she was going to burn these. The teenager picked up the bag and turned to head out of the door, time to leave.

Kurt stopped where he was walking down the corridor, and raised his eyebrows at her. "Up and about, I see. Going outside?"

"Yeah. They said it was okay for me to leave." Tandy lifted up the bag of clothes. "What is the policy of burning clothes?"

"You can burn whatever you like, as long as you do it safely", he told her. "In one of the fireplaces, or in the quarry if you prefer. How are you feeling?"

"Tired...exchasted to be honest. Want to come with me Kurt? It was Kurt right?"

"It was, and I think I will", he agreed. "We cannot have you outside alone in this cold if you are so tired."

"Thanks. I feel overall better like....power wise." Tandy wrapped her arm around his arm. "I think outside would be best."

"Your powers do seem to regenerate quite quickly", Kurt said with a nod, squeezing her arm reassuringly. "Which is good, no one wants you in the medlab for too long. Outside it is."

"I think Doctor Jean and Doctor Amelia would say the same thing." Tandy started to walk down the hall towards the exit of the basement. "Hope I don't have to return any time soon."

"And so say we all", was the heartfelt response. "You know that you are safe here, yes? The mansion is warded against... anything like her."

"Yes. I was talking to Garrison earlier this morning. He said he knows people that deals with things like her. I am going to Ohio on Monday. Adrienne is coming with me, with my Uncle."

"My sister is one of those people", Kurt told her, looking down at the top of her head. "She maintains the wards, in fact... will your uncle be your guardian now?"

"Oh? Maybe she was one of the ones I was going to talk too. I am not sure...the funeral is next week and I believe there is going to be a will reading. I think it will be named then. It wouldn't be my grandparents, my moms sides died and on my step-dad's side, grandpa is in the hospital because of a broken hip and grandma passed away two years ago. Not sure about...his parents. We lost contact with them 10 years ago?"

Kurt nodded. "It seems he may be the best choice, especially being so close at hand, but you know all of us here will act as guardians as well."

"Thanks. I am not used to people looking out for me. I mean my stepdad tried his hardest but my mom..." Tandy trailed off and looked down at the ground. "I am trying to think positive but I can't. I don't have any good memories.

He looked at her sadly and tucked her a little closer into his side. "Then we shall have to make some for you. After the funeral, when you can look forward."

"That would be nice. I mean so far I have pretty good memories. Have awesome friends...my phone was so filled with worried texts and calls. I was beside myself." Tandy did feel like she meant something to people to those who called and texted her.

"I know the others were worried, they were asking on the journals where you were. But you must not feel you have to tell them what happened if you do not want to talk about it."

"I don't know where to start if I do. How does one explain that you were a power source for a demon?"

"Perhaps with just that", he suggested. "It is not the first time we here have encountered a demon, or for that matter a mutant who can drain power from others."

"Mr. Garrison mentioned a Magneto and a Apocalypse. Maybe I'll make a post about it. Get it out all at once."

"They are the tip of the iceberg", he said wryly. "That might be a good idea, it would save you explaining over and over."

"Maybe I'll have the words for it when I get back. I never got to say thank you for getting me out of there."

"No need." Kurt offered her a kind smile. "You are one of our own and that is what we do."

"One of your own." Tandy smiled a bit as she thought about it. "Risk lives to get one of them back."

"When we must, yes. We would rather none of you were ever taken in the first place, but this is the world we have."

"Long lost parents returning from the beyond. It was kind of weird. I never seen a picture of him before so seeing him in person...it was like a dream."

"And you wanted to believe he was really only there to be your father, the last parent you had left." He smiled sadly. "I can understand that. I have been in the situation myself."

"Yea pretty much. I thought he couldn't be worse than my mother. But he did prove me wrong." Tandy looked up at Kurt, "You have?"

"My mother", he said slowly, meeting her gaze, "was ill, in the last years of her life, and she was a leader of our people, and it made her hard in compensation. She disowned me and took me back only minutes before she died. I am afraid then I let my birth mother deceive and almost use me, because I wanted so much for there to be some good in her."

Tandy took her hand and wrapped them around Kurt and gave the blue fuzzy man a hug, "We are two kindred spirits." The blonde whispered into his ear before she pulled away. "I guess we are nothing like our parents, whatever good they didn't have we have."

He hugged her back without hesitation until she stepped back. "You hold onto that thought, my child. It will see you through times when you have doubts. And they will come."

"Funny thing about proverbs you make up on the spot, remembering them when you need them the most. Might have to make it into a note and place it somewhere I can see it.. But I think I will start with these clothes."

"Then let us go to the quarry now", Kurt said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, "and make that start."

"Lead the way...mostly cause I have no idea how to get to the quarry. It is behind the mansion right?"

"It is", he confirmed. "And hard to miss, when you get close. You might consider bleeding off your excess energy there, other people do so."

"Oh do they? I just go into this room in the medlab and do it there. If I need too I might. Never know especially since I am feeling a lot right now."

"Of course", he said with a nod. "It is entirely up to you - and the room in the medlab is probably warmer."

"Probably. Though unleashing deadly daggers in the open with no one around might be kind of fun."

"There is that", Kurt agreed, grinning. "I would want to be there to make sure you do not overextend yourself, but I promise to keep out of the way."

"Okay you got a deal. Though I don't think I need to 'bleed' off my powers anytime soon."

"You did do it quite thoroughly not long ago, I know. So for today, I will just show you where the quarry is and we will have a therapeutic little bonfire."

Tandy smiled at the blue man, "Sounds like a plan."
