Backdated to December 1st, following the Snow Incident

The greenhouse classroom was usually one of the warmer places in the mansion. The large glass windows let in lots of natural light and kept the cold at bay. But this chilly December day the frost on the windows was actually on the inside. Most of the snow was gone, now that it had stopped falling from the ceiling. Some dusting was still left on the plant leaves, but most of the unfortunate accident had melted into remaining puddles on the tile floor. A mop squeaked back and forth as Billy tried to to squeegee the last remnants and get the classroom back into working order.

Scott stopped in the doorway, silently watching Billy in his struggle against the encroaching water. The teacher briefly considered stepping in to help the student before deciding not to, the physical labour would help Billy learn a lesson. Waiting a few more moments Scott coughed discreetly into his hand and waited for Billy to notice him.

Billy glanced up at the sound, looking over toward the door. The mop stopped suddenly, as he caught sight of Scott, and his eyes darted around the classroom, not nearly as clean as he'd like it to be. "Uh, hi, Mr. Summers," he finally ventured.

"William," Scott nodded his tone slightly formal. "How's the cleanup going?" As he spoke Scott reached out and touched some of the remaining dusting, he'd seen plenty of power related accidents while teaching at the school, but this. he had to admit, was a first.

"It's...going," Billy frowned as he scanned the room. "I'm not sure I'm going to finish tonight. I'll get it done tomorrow, though."

"I see," Scott mused as he pushed off the doorway and walked into the room. Carefully checking the chairs he sat down on a dry one gesturing Billy to another chair, "Do you have time to talk?"

"Uh, sure," Billy replied. He leaned the mop against the wall, watching to make sure it wasn't going to topple over, then headed toward the other chair. "I really didn't mean it," he started to apologize. "I wasn't even trying to do magic."

"No-one ever means to let something like this happen," Scott replied with a smile, "but somehow it always does. Don't worry we're used to this, well not precisely snowing indoors but you know powers going out of control. At least you didn't blow a hole in the side of the building or anything," he continued giving Billy a wry smile. "So, what exactly happened?"

Billy relaxed a little, settling a bit more comfortably into the chair. "Well, I'm not sure. Last night, Maddie and I were putting up some lights and singing, and I got this song stuck in my head. Been humming it all morning. I didn't even know I was casting a spell, but suddenly it's snowing in here. I don't know how it happened. Maybe I said 'I want' accidentally at some point."

"That could...well that will certainly make things interesting around here in the future. Have you talked to Amanda about it yet? if you keep thinking the same thing over and over again is it gonna happen again. Cause then when you're revising for exams or something we might just end up with a Hun invasion rampaging through the school."

"We talked for a couple minutes, but just enough to make sure it wasn't going to start snowing again," Billy responded. "We'll talk more soon, at magic class this week at least. I guess she'll have some ideas and how to stop it. Hopefully by then, I can keep the noisy barbarians from interrupting finals. No promises for midterms, though."

Scott smiled wryly, "Well I'm sure the other students would appreciate the diversion, though I'm not sure how well the other teachers would react. But this is something you're going to have to get a handle on sooner rather than later, being able to do magic without having to talk could be a useful trick, but not covering the school in snow is probably a little bit more useful right now"

"Well, once I finish this cleaning up, that's hopefully the last of the snow. I'll try not to think about it. Or at least when I'm inside," Billy promised.

"I've found trying not to think about something just makes you think of it more," Scott replied with a smile, "It's sometimes easier to think about something else, I could help with that if you want, spot quiz on chemistry a danger room session or two. You'll be too tired to even think of snow I can guarantee that." He told the boy with a laugh.

Billy's face scrunched up at the mention of chemistry, ready to protest, but he perked up at the mention of the danger room. "That would be cool," he said. "Amanda and I've been working more on the magic and spells, so I've not got as much practice zapping stuff ."

Scott grinned at Billy's reaction to the idea of a chemistry test, always good to have something in his pocket. "Well if you promise not to destroy it, or to cause any more localized weather effects then I think we could arrange a training run for you.

"How about I promise to try not to destroy anything," Billy offered hopefully.

"Do or do not...there is no try," Scott quoted with a smile.

Billy snickered at the unexpected reference. "Okay, it's a deal," he said, hoping he wouldn't prove himself wrong.
