After this early morning discussion with North, Logan seeks out Wade a few days later to have a little chat about their respective Weapon X histories.

Wade finished the bit of tinkering he'd been doing beneath the hollowed-out Mustang he'd gotten in for Logan and Korvus, making sure the rusty spot he'd been sanding down was smooth and rust-free, before wheeling himself out from under the car. They still had a lot of work to do, but then that was the whole point. And it was relaxing - nice to have something to focus on that wasn't related to anything else at all. Sitting up, he grabbed a towel and wiped his hands off, then his face, and pushed himself up.

Logan wasn't exactly mad at Wade. What he was was irritated. That wasn't the same thing as mad. Wade probably had his reasons for not telling him. Maybe the shit he'd heard while he was in the program or whatever he'd picked up while he was at the mansion. Either way, Logan wasn't one for letting shit like this stew. He'd spent some time in the Danger Room and now it was time to find Wade. Wasn't hard. All Logan had to do was follow his nose and even if he hadn't, one of the first places to look for Wade when he was even in the mansion was the garage. He shoved the door open with more force than necessary and spotted Wade over by the Mustang. Logan headed in his direction. "Wade. We need to have a talk."

"Are you breaking up with me?" Wade asked, turning to rest the small of his back on the work bench near the Mustang even as he tossed the dirty rag aside. He waggled his eyebrows a bit. "Because I think our sordid affair was definitely the highlight of my month. I'm sorry to see it come to an end."

Logan arched an eyebrow and leaned against the large garage toolbox. "Think your girlfriend would have my hide if that was anywhere near true. Probably throw in a lifetime of torture too." Sometimes he still wasn't too sure what to make of Wade. He wasn't like any of the others that'd gone through Weapon X. He shook his head and scowled slightly. "Had a visit from North a couple days ago and learned somethin' that would've been better comin' from you, asshole." He paused. "How long was your stint in that damn program? 'Cause, it looks like it went a whole hell of a lot better than mine did."

Wade's shoulders tightened, but that was the only visible indication that his mood had shifted. "Ah, North," the mercenary muttered. "Gotta admire the bastard." Rubbing at the back of his neck, Wade exhaled slowly through his nose and said, "Three years, give or take a couple months on either end. Went in in '92. Got forcibly removed in '95. North says you don't remember - says not to talk about it too much." He shrugged. "I would've told you eventually. Probably."

Logan grunted. He wasn't too sure about that last statement. With North whispering in his ear, he'd have probably found out in the middle of the shitheads coming after them. "Least you got out with your memories." He clenched and unclenched his hands. "Lettin' me know you were part of it and askin' me questions about it are two different things. But then North was feedin' you advice and he has a fucked up sense of havin' fun."

"Yeah he does," Wade agreed, nodding. He paused, trying to figure out what might be relevant, what Logan would find useful, and what was nobody's business but his. "Heard your codename in the program, but no real specifics. Sort of like a legend. Real quiet, whispers more than anything else. That's what clued me in - I checked with North. He vouched for you. A good part of my time was spent in the labs. They experimented, did all kinds of things. Played around with my healing factor. Put me in the field for training."

"Huh." Logan hadn't expected the hush hush about him. He'd have figured the program would've used him as the prime example of what not to be. It wasn't like there wasn't already a history of their experiments going horribly wrong. "Guess they really hated havin' their mistakes known. What'd the whispers say?" He didn't think he'd been that well known in the program even before he broke free. Logan scowled at the mention of the labs though the only thing he remembered of his time there was the torture of adamantium getting fused to his bones and hearing the order for his memories to be wiped. "Fuckin' labs."

Suppressing a sigh, Wade frowned and then said, "Mostly it was stuff about how good you were. Nothing specific, everything was pretty much smoke and mirrors, vague stuff to prod us into doing better. 'The Wolverine managed this run in under six minutes and none of his teammates took hits...' Stuff like that. Bunch of whispers about how awesome you were on solo gigs. Then some really fucking crazy shit about you breaking out of the program. Like I said, hush hush legend stuff."

Even after he broke out, the fuckers were still using him to make people do the shit they wanted. Anger and disgust crawled over his skin and Logan tensed with his hands clenching into fists. What he wouldn't give to get his hands on the shitheads running it and smash their faces in. "I'da sooner had 'em forget me and they couldn't have been too pleased about those stories floatin' around." He shrugged. "Doubt the truth of my breakin' out lives up to all that."

Wade just shrugged. "It got the job done, whatever the job was. But hey, they didn't manage to off either of us, so go team."

Logan snorted. "Yeah, still livin' and breathin' despite what they wanted." He eyed Wade for a moment. It wasn't like he could really hold not telling him about the program against Wade. He did it plenty himself. It was his default reaction. "So now that that shit's out of the way, feel like tryin' to get drunk tonight at Harry's?" Weapon X talk always made him feel mildly disgusted with the world and brought home how much he'd lost. Chasing that feeling away with alcohol and a good time was the usual remedy and he wasn't gonna break tradition.

"Fuck yes," Wade said, laughing just a little at the both of them. "Absolutely."
