Sue goes to talk to Maddie about their kiss during the cast party.

Sue chewed at her lip as she stared at the door in front of her, such a small barrier to hide the questions an uncertainty she was feeling. It was stupid to just stand here staring at the door the girl told herself, you've been in there loads of times, just open the door and walk in. If she was honest with herself Sue was a little scared of what she'd find if she went in. Maddie had been acting the same as always when Sue saw her around the mansion.

Steeling herself Sue raised her hand to knock on the door, "Mads, you in there?" she asked as the unlocked door swung open.
"Coming!"

Maddie hurried out from her room, damp hair wrapped up in a towel. It was no small secret that her plans for the evening were to study in her suite, a den of quiet respite, but that she would be around if needed. She had been able to hear the voice at the door, though as it had carried further into the room it had been muffled, giving her little to go off of as to who might be seeking her out. So when she crossed into the common area and the speaker revealed herself, Maddie stepped back, a small recoil of surprise, and paused for a moment before venturing any farther in.

"Sue, hey. Come in, come in," she beckoned with her hand that the other girl should enter as well. Sue's presence was only a surprise in that Maddie wasn't expecting the blonde to seek her out so quickly. It didn't take a genius to figure out that the reason for the drop-in was that Sue wanted to talk about their kiss. "Take a seat."

"I apologize for not asking your permission, or explaining why I kissed you yesterday," Maddie continued as she flopped backwards onto the sofa. She shrugged. "I was curious. Like 'Hey. I wonder what this weird Japanese candy tastes like' only obviously it was curiosity about what it would be like to kiss you. I'm just used to guys taking forever to work up the courage to kiss me, so I've fallen into habit with kissing them instead of waiting and waiting and waiting. You know what guys are like. I kinda sprung that on you, so sorry about that."

Sue perched herself on the edge of the the couch, "You were just curious?" she clarified, confusion evident on her face. That really hadn't been what Sue had expected, to be honest she didn't know what she'd expected when she walked in. "Guys can beat around the bush a lot," she agreed offering Maddie a wry smile. "I...I dunno what to think Maddie, you really took me by surprise last night,"

"Uhh yeah." Was is really that confusing that Maddie would be curious? She was always announcing some new thing she was curious about, from trying weird donut flavors to bungee jumping in the Grand Canyon. Compared to some of her other existential questionings, a kiss was rather mundane. "And I'm sorry about the whole surprising you like that." She folded her legs underneath her and leaned in toward Sue. "But I didn't expect you to kiss back either."

"Yeah," Sue gave a small shrug and leaned back onto the couch with a wry smile, "I wasn't expecting that part either." she admitted. "I wasn't even thinking, you kissed me and I was kissing you back. I guess I was kinda curious how kissing you would be too."

"It was a good kiss," Maddie stated. The towel on her head was slipping off and it was beginning to annoy her, so she pulled it off and began running her fingers through her hair. The irony of the fact that this situation had started with Maddie playing with Sue's hair was not lost on the redhead, and inspired a wry smile of her own. "At least I enjoyed it."

"You're not the only one. It was a nice kiss," Sue admitted, a small smile on her face as she watched Maddie playing with her hair. "No fair teasing me like that," she pointed out with a grin as she nodded at Maddie's hair.

The redhead snorted in reply and threw the towel over her hair, ends tied together at the back of her head at the base of her hairline. "There," she exclaimed when her hair was secured, the wry smile deepening in amusement. "How's that?" Maddie turned her head from side to side, showing off her new 'do. "I call it 'Towel Chic'. It's going to be on all the runways this Spring."

"Much better," Sue agreed with a grin, "I can totally see Towel Chic taking the fashion world by storm darling." she agreed in her best posh accent. "It's inspired, simply inspired." Sue reached over to poke the towel, "And this fabric, wherever did you find it?"

"What's wrong Sue?" With the abrupt change in topic Maddie's tone softened. She lay her head against the back of her sofa and peered up at her friend. "You seem all confused about kissing me back and stuff. I can understand why you'd be afraid because you enjoyed it too," she had, after all, had a somewhat similar situation with Billy with his anxiety, and that was over a dream. "I mean, I don't think anyone here would judge you or shun you if that's something you're afraid of, but I can't, you know, tell you what it says about you or anything."

She paused and studied the blonde for a few quiet moments. "What's going on in that pretty head of yours, Susan Storm?"
Sue sighed and leaned back on the couch, staring at the ceiling. "It's just I never thought about kissing another girl before. I mean I think models are pretty and all, I just never thought about them in that way. Guys, yeah sure; I mean I've fantasied about it and I dated Matt and it was good. Then you kissed me, and I kissed you back and enjoyed it; and I'm just wondering where it came from. I'm not really scared of being ostracized or shunned, the mansion is pretty much as liberal a place as there can possibly be."

Sue turned her head to look at Maddie and shrugged, "I don't feel any different about anything now, so what did it mean?"

Maddie's gaze remained on Sue as she waxed poetic about the events from the night before and nodded along in understanding with all that was being said. It wasn't as if she was going to swear off all men forever, because, well, boys were great. She had, in the past, had small crushes on girls (the aptly named "girl-crush) but never acted on them. "Well, I can't tell you what it means to you," she replied with a slight shrug. "But for me it was an enjoyable kiss with a smart, fun, gorgeous girl who I consider a great friend and enjoy spending time with. I mean, I've never really connected with girls like I do with guys, what with me like running around and getting all muddy with more than a few scrapes and broken bones, so you're definitely one of my closest girlfriends."

"But, hey, a good kiss is a good thing. So that's always a positive experience in my book. You know?"

Sue nodded, "I'm probably over thinking this a little bit too much aren't I? I always end up doing that, even when I know that I shouldn't." Sue tilted her head to look at Maddie with a grin. "You really think I'm gorgeous? Aww Maddie you say the sweetest things," the blonde replied with a smile, aware that she also was repeating lines from last night. Although on balance Sue really did prefer being called gorgeous to being compared with Cousin It.

"I agree, the kiss was a nice experience with a really pretty young lady who I enjoy spending time with." The blonde shyly looked down to where her hands were tying themselves into knots on her lap, "and I wouldn't be adverse to it happening again." she admitted in a soft voice as a faint blush colored her cheeks.

"Neither would I." Maddie had kept still at her end of the couch, not wanting to risk Sue becoming more uncomfortable. But seeing her friend wring and twist her hands nervously into knots, all Maddie wanted to do was provide her comfort; she hated seeing any of her friends upset. So, shifting closer to the other girl, she gently pried apart Sue's hands and held them in her own.

"Hey," she whispered, concern evident in her tone and her face. "Sue, you're gorgeous, okay? And it's not just those blonde curls and blue eyes. You're like crazy smart, and kind and caring and generous. And super fun to be around. Remember Tandy's fashion show? How we tried on all those outfits and you told me that I looked like a disco ball in that silver sequined dress? And then how we snuggled up under like fifty blankets to try and warm our poor frozen legs up and we got into a tickle fight?"
"We both enjoyed the kiss," she continued softly. "And we both would probably enjoy sharing another one. But no matter what, I promise you that I will always be your friend, whether you like it or not."

"Thanks Maddie, that means a lot. I'll always be your friend too, as long as you want me to be." Sue pulled her eyes up from her lap to look at Maddie's face and gave a small smile, "That was a pretty fun night," she agreed. "You looked just like a Christmas tree ornament in that dress," she teased with a giggle. "A cute ornament who looked like a million bucks," she added giving Maddie's hands a small squeeze, "with great legs too, best looking ornament I've even seen. I still need to get you back for beating me that time." An honest smile tugged at Sue's lips, "I will get my revenge on you one of these days."

Maddie quirked an eyebrow in intrigue. "One," she dropped Sue's hands and poked her in the side. "I'm not a Christmas ornament, I'm the freaking tree topper. Get it right. And two," she poked the other teen on the other side. "I'd like to see you just try and beat me." As she spoke, Maddie unleashed a barrage of pokes into Sue's sides, where she knew the blonde to be the most sensitive. "You think you're special, punk? Huh? You think you can beat me? Huh?"

"Maddie!" Sue squealed as she flailed helplessly on the couch under the red-head's assault. "No fair, no fair. Ornament, ornament, ornament!" The blonde degenerated into a fit of laughter as Maddie mercilessly continued her attack. The blonde's hand's scrabbled ineffectually at her friend as she dissolved into a helpless ball of weakly struggling limbs rolling back and forth on the couch. Sue rocked back and forward harder as she sought to escape from Maddie's poking fingers, the teenager actually rocked so hard that she actually rolled herself off the couch and onto the floor with a shriek grabbing for the other girl as she fell.

It took Sue a few seconds to clear the stars from her vision and become aware of the redhead lying next to her laughing in delight at her victory, "Fine you win...this time," Sue conceded with a laugh. The blonde couldn't help but smile as she looked over at Maddie's still grinning face. "Well," she began with a laugh, "they do say to the victor goes the spoils." With that statement Sue leaned in to Maddie and planted a soft kiss on her lips.

It was Maddie's turn to return the kiss, leaning in and shifting her body closer, one arm draped over Sue's waist, the other pinned reaching straight up from her shoulder and elevating her head a few inches off the ground. But laughing had left her breathless, and once again the redhead was forced to abruptly end the pleasant sensation of Sue's soft lips against hers. "Is this what you want," she murmured, gaze locked on Sue's face. Just because the blonde had initiated the kiss didn't mean that she wouldn't still feel just as awkward and nervous as when she first entered the suite. "I like this, the laughing and the kissing and everything, and I like you, Sue, but I'm not about to let things get super awkward and uncomfortable for you."

Sue lay back and looked back at Maddie; that was a serious question, and it deserved serious thought before it was answered. Marshaling her thoughts the teenager nodded, tearing her own gaze from Maddie's face to look down at her hand which had found it's way onto Maddie's hip while they kissed. "I'm the one who kissed you this time," she told the other girl in a quiet but increasingly confident voice. "I don't want things to get awkward or uncomfortable either." Sue agreed pulling her gaze up to look at Maddie's face again. "That's the last thing that I want, but this," the blonde nodded at the couch trying unsuccessfully to ignore the tingly feeling she'd felt in her stomach when Maddie said she liked her, "was fun. The playing around and the kissing, I liked it, otherwise I wouldn't kissed you; and I like you too Madelyne Jennifer Pryor."

Hearing someone else refer to her by her full name was odd, but Maddie wasn't complaining. Quite the opposite. In fact the statement made her smile that wide, relaxed smile that came easily when she was content. "Well," she began, calmly and rather matter-of-fact. "I want to keep this new element. There may be some more good things that could come as a result, and I wouldn't want to miss out on them. Or maybe there won't. I'm a mind-reader, not a precog."

Sue nodded as she levered herself up into her elbows, "I'd be inclined to see where this goes too," she agreed. "You mean it gets better than falling off the couch and making out on the floor?" she asked in mock disbelief nodding at their location. The blonde smiled and continued in a more serious tone, "I'm glad you're not a pre-cog, I kinda like not knowing what the future will hold but waiting to find out. I think there could be some really good times in the future, but as you say maybe not. But there's only one way to find out."

"Wait." Maddie jolted upright, staring at Sue incredulously. "I'm sorry. You consider that 'making out'?" Brows knit in deep concentration, she searched the other girl's face for signs that the comment had been a joke. One kiss on the floor does not a make out make. But finding only sincerity in Sue's face, the redhead shook her head in sad disbelief. Either Sue had gotten really good at fooling her, or the blonde was entirely serious. Either scenario was highly possible, but Maddie decided to err on the side of innocent until proven guilty.

"Oh Sue." Maddie's face melted into a look of sadness, mixed with a dash of pity, as she removed her arm from Sue's waist and reached out to brush some stray curls back into place before cupping the other girl's cheek. "No wonder you and Matt broke up."

Sue's eyes widened in shock at Maddie's tone, "Umm, yes?" she answered hesitantly as she pushed herself up into a sitting position. "Kissing with a certain level of intensity right?" The blonde was starting to feel a little unsure of herself now. Did she have it all wrong? "I don't really think that was really it, I mean I never had any complaints. We just kinda drifted apart."

"Well," Maddie ran her palm down Sue's arm and intertwined their fingers with a wry smile, "I may not be the most expert in this area, but based on experience I think making out involves a much longer length of sustained kissing activity."

Sue twisted her fingers, enjoying the feeling of Maddie's fingers rubbing against her own. "A longer time huh?," the blonde echoed Maddie's wry smile. "I'll have to remember that...for the future," she noted with a twinkle in her eye.

The redhead smiled wider at the blatant invitation for the future to be the present and glanced down at where the pads of her fingers lightly brushed over the back of Sue's hand. But she had homework. And the remembrance of that caused Maddie to crumple like a deflated balloon. She sighed, eyes still glued to their joined hands, and very dejectedly replied.

"I have homework." Stupid school getting in the way of all the important things. Again.

Sue gave a short sigh, "Never thought I'd be feeling that school was getting in the way," she commented squeezing Maddie's hands and pulling the red head into a hug. "Ah well," she said planting a kiss on Maddie's cheek, "How about I help you with your homework instead then?" She wasn't ready to leave yet, and it was a good excuse to spend some more time with Maddie.

"I'd like that." Maddie was beaming. Sue was a brainiac straight-A student, of course she would understand needing to do school work. "And the sooner I finish the sooner we can go back to laughing, and kissing, and all of the fun stuff."
