Matt works with Kurt on the trapeze and more circus tricks are discussed for the future

Swinging from the trapeze, Matt pulled himself up and twisted, "Like this?" He asked Kurt, the teacher.

"Exactly", Kurt responded, pleased. "You are catching on so quickly, I think soon you will not need me any more."

Pleased with the compliment, Matt dropped down again and repeated the move, getting more fluid at it. His background in gymnastics helped with trapeze. "Not true," he protested, "If I start other circus arts this summer, I'll still do trapeze! They're all a little different," plus, he liked taking classes with Kurt. They were fun,

"And I would be happy to help you with those other arts as well", Kurt assured him. "But you will not need much more instruction in the trapeze. Would you like to try knife throwing next?"

That was now the second time someone had suggested that in as many days. Odd. "Do I have a sign on my forehead that says I think this is a good idea?" Matt asked, "Johnny wants to learn too and said I can throw knives at him. So. Sure." Why not?

"It might be good for Johnny's powers", Kurt agreed. "To help them not react to every little thing, and your powers allow more than enough sight for what you need."

That was a point. "I just don't want them thrown at me," Matt explained. "But it could be useful for a lot of things."

"Yes, that would be much less advisable." He grinned. "Although perhaps in time we could see how you dodge blunt objects."

Blunt objects sounded like a much better idea. Gathering some momentum, Matt dismounted with a complicated flip, landing on the mat with a solid thunk. "I think blunt objects to start," he agreed, slightly breathless. "Less chance of slicing me open. I'm not a fan of bleeding."

"How much detail can you see?" Kurt asked curiously. "I know you cannot see faces, or anything more than an outline, but is there a limit to how small a solid object can be to be visible to you?"

"It depends on the object and how much noise there is," Matt explained, "I mostly just get outlines. Smaller things like pens and paper I can't really see," but he rarely had cause to use pens or paper so it worked out for him. "It's both easier and harder in the gym because it's a huge space, but there' a lot of reverb."

"And pens are usually lying among other things or in someone's hand, which cannot help", he guessed. "When we start the throwing practice, we could establish just how small a flying object, isolated from anything else, you can pick out."

That sounded like a good idea, "There are balls and things with beepers in them, too," Matt offered. They used one of those for him when they played baseball or did other similar sports. "We have several of those."

"Those could be a good thing to start with", Kurt agreed, thinking it over. "Before eventually moving to things that do not make their own noise. You can work with ambient noise, yes?"

"Not as well," Matt admitted, "It depends a lot on the size of the space I'm in and stuff. If I'm having trouble I'll click my tongue or snap my fingers or something to give it a boost," he didn't need a lot of noise, but some. "Well, we will see how it works out. You might find your sensitivity improves with practice."

That was what Matt had already learned. As he practiced, he tended to discover new abilities or new applications for his abilities. Being able to focus his powers and sensitivity helped him immensely. "I think so," Matt agreed, heading to the trapeze ladder, "Alright. Up I go. You want to practice leaps and grabs?" he was sure that Kurt could grab him safely.

"I would be happy to." He made for the other ladder, preferring to climb rather than teleport around Matt whenever he could. Inflicting his sulfur on enhanced senses just wasn't on.
