Bishop & Wade | Saturday Afternoon
Jun. 1st, 2013 02:22 pmWade drops by X-Factor Investigations to hire them for some surveillance for a 'friend.'
Wade wasn't normally one to use other people for things like surveillance. Usually, he just had the Wheeze hack into cameras or ATMs or whatever it was he did to get the information he got. That was probably illegal. That probably sent up red flags somewhere to someone who might actually have the sense to look into it. And Wade really didn't want anyone looking into this.
It wasn't the sort of thing he wanted to worry Marie-Ange or Doug about even though he knew they'd probably be more than willing to help... which was how he found himself climbing the stairs to the door to X-Factor Investigations. He hadn't been in this part of District-X in a while but he didn't see that many changes. Knocking, he tipped his head to the side. The Vale sisters were working as receptionists or something here, at least according to Minion #4, but he didn't know who else might be in rotation.
"We're open!" Bishop's voice was distinct enough it was clear who was at the desk and, when Wade entered, he'd get an up nod in greeting. The large man pulled his feet down from the desk to sit upright, hitting a couple keys so the nearby computer monitor blacked out. "Wade, everything OK at the mansion? That's where you stay, right?" The pair actually didn't talk much but the detective felt the need to keep up on who everyone was, at the least.
"The mansion's cool," Wade said with a nod, moving over to the chairs arrayed in front of Bishop's desk. He took a spindly looking one and turned it around so the back was toward the other man, then straddled the chair. "I've got a thing, though. I figured I'd see if you and yours would be interested in checking it out for me. Not necessarily surveillance... more seeing if someone's being watched. I set up a friend of mine locally about a year and a half ago. Sensitive stuff. He says somebody's been making regular passes of his place, he's noticed tails and the like. Think you can find out who's doing the watching?"
Bishop nodded, "Probably. Sounds pretty straight forward so far. I assume you want me to find out without letting the tail know that I know?" Wade seemed like the kind of guy that would enjoy spy intrigue and double agent opportunities rather than brute force.
"Yeah. Mostly so I can track them down to figure out what they want with my friend," Wade said, giving Bishop a smile. "He's a little jumpy, but he wouldn't be this worried without cause. He knows how things work."
"It will just be some surveillance, then." Bishop explained what he'd do just like he would to any other client. "Tell him to keep things normal or not telling him anything would be even better, so he doesn't even know I'm there. I'll just watch cars and plates to see what's repeating. Unless it's a really sophisticated operation, it shouldn't be hard. Once I get an ID, I'll turn it over to you." He paused for confirmation or correction.
"Sounds good," Wade said, nodding. "The only caveat is - if anything even remotely violent goes down, I'd like you to step in. Call me and I'll be there as soon as possible. Just, like I said - this is kind of sensitive. I don't expect anything like that to go down, but there's always a possibility it might. And I'll pay extra for that, like a retainer or something, I don't know."
Bishop shook his head, "Retainers aren't quite like that. If something like that happens, I'll include it with the bill." He offered in compromise.
"Excellent," Wade said, giving the younger man a strained smile. "I appreciate it."
