Things just go from bad to worse
One moment they were in an old cave...and then they weren't. Sue blinked in surprise and turned a slow circle taking in the temple which had appeared around them. "Mr Guthrie never mentioned anything like this did he?" The teenager was almost sure she'd have remembered if their teacher had mentioned, oh yeah and the center of the cave turns into a temple. "I think we're definitely down the rabbit hole now," Sue muttered before she stumbled, her hip colliding with the altar that had appeared behind them.

"If rabbit holes look like this on the inside I think that would mean rabbits are a LOT smarter than we think they are. Which worries me, because they <i>seem</i> so easy to catch and eat," Catseye muttered distractedly, even though she knew Sue was referencing <i>Alice in Wonderland.</i> "You girls should stay close to me, and don't, you know, touch anything." She looked around methodically, making sure the exit was still clear and searching for some sort of indication as to what had actually <i>happened.</i> "Are you okay, Sue?" she asked as the girl bumped into the altar.

"Just don't eat anything that says 'Eat Me' or drink anything that says 'Drink Me', k?" Tandy looked around the room. "This place is where horror movies start. You know like the movie I had you watch." The blonde chuckled a bit and looked just in time to see Sue bump into an alter. "Woah." Her reflexes reacted quickly as Tandy reached out to grab a falling item on the alter.  Gently she placed it back on the alter, "Are - are these gems?" She leaned forward to get a better look.

Rubbing her hip Sue gave a small sigh of exasperation, "I'm fine," she assured the older woman, "trust me to find someway to make a chunk of rock appear out of thin air so I can trip all over it." the younger blonde peered at the jewelry scattered over the top of the Altar. "I think so," she said hesitantly they looked real but then they had just appeared out of nowhere os she wasn't going to say anything for sure. "You just held one," she pointed out to her friend, "what do you think?"

"They're all so shiny," Catseye mumbled, entranced by the jewelry as she got closer to the altar. "Shiny shiny shiny..." She had to ball her hands into fists and put them behind her back so she wouldn't touch them, not wanting to disturb anything.

"So that makes me an expert?" Tandy looked over at the other blonde and shook her head. "But from my expert opinion...maybe." Looking over at the gems and picked up another one but quickly dropped it as a blue flash and the blonde was on the ground holding onto her hand as a blue symbol appeared on her. "Ouch. It like shocked me or something."

"Umm, Tandy, you have a blue....something on you," Sue told her friend worriedly as she poked at the aforementioned blue rune. "I thought we said don't touch anything," she admonished good-naturedly as a she examined the mark, "This is magic again isn't it?"

Catseye stared at the blue symbol for a moment before she sprang into action. "Out. Out now. Out of this place," she ordered the students, putting her arms out and starting to herd them like kittens. "Let's get out of here. We should find the others and get Tandy to CityMa- to Amanda," she said matter-of-factly.

"I know I see it. " Tandy whispered as she stood up to walk out. "Uh...the doors are closing."

Sue span around in alarm taking a step towards the door as she saw an iris spinning shut in the doorway, locking shut with a slam.  A grinding noise pulled her attention away from the door and the blonde's eyes almost popped out of her head at the sight of one of the statues which had been lining the walls stepping off its pedestal and roll its shoulders. "I don't think that's our biggest problem." she squeaked.

Catseye's eyes widened in shock and her jaw dropped open as the door slammed shut and the statue appeared to come to life. "<i>I hate field trips!</i>" she moaned, stamping her foot petulantly. "Okay, I'm going to try to talk to it and maybe it will let us go, but if it won't, I may have to fight it. You guys stay behind me, okay? Try to keep the altar between yourselves and the statue." It wouldn't give them much protection, but it was better than nothing.

"Wait - talk to it? I don't think that is a good idea." Tandy taking a step back looking at the moving statues. "I don't think it wants to talk."

Billy wandered around the edge of the room, drawn toward one of the large statues.  "Hey, guys, c'mere" he motioned Clint and Maddie over.  "Check out that axe," he said, pointing at the weapon in the statue's hands.  "It's huge.  I doubt I could even lift it."

"I don't think any of us could," Clint said, head tilting to the side. "It's pretty massive."

"Speak for yourself, weakling." Maddie stood beside the statue's base, looking up at the giant battle axe within its grasp. It was pretty massive. And made of some sort of stone, she couldn't tell what kind just based on looks and the feel of it under her palm. "You guys keep forgetting that I'm an awesome telekinetic. I couldn't lift statue, but I bet I could do the axe."

"Hey." She whirled around, smiling at her two friends. "Think if I can pull it out I can become the next Queen of... whatever this place is? I will have starfish minions!"

"Starfish minions would be pretty cool," Billy acknowledged. "Though if there were one weapon to rule them all, I think it'd be a trident, not a axe."  He started to lean forward, reaching for it, when a flash and a clatter sounded behind him. He froze where he was. "It wasn't me!"

Clint caught movement out of the corner of his eye just before the flash went off and he turned toward the movement rather than the light to see what was going on. "Uh... guys?" He lifted his chin in the direction of the statue they'd been looking at. Tiny bits and pieces of dirt and sand were falling from its joints and he would swear it was moving.

She had seen it too, that movement in the dark, and the crumbling sand that landed on her face only confirmed it for Maddie. Was it the statue itself moving? Stranger things had happened to them, and it would be a surprise for this to be the case. Or was the cave closing in? Either way, Maddie wasn't in the mood to hang around and check it out.

"Ow. Motherfu-----." The piece of sand that landed in her eye sealed the deal for her as she sprinted toward the light, hand over one eye, the other reaching out and grabbing Billy's arm. "Let's haul ass and get the hell out of dodge."
