Yvette takes Sarah out for dinner and a movie to celebrate her birthday, where the two catch up on their personal lives with a bit of business discussion on the side.

Taking a big bite out of her burger, Sarah tried her best not to make a huge mess and succeeded for the most part. She reached for a napkin to wipe her face, but the smile on it remained intact.

"Thanks for coming out with me, Yvette. It's been way too long since we've hung out like this, outside of school and stuff anyway." They'd seen each other around Xavier's but it had been awhile since they'd done anything outside of the mansion.

Yvette giggled at the sight. "It was your birthday, and I wanted to do something nice for it," she explained. "We are so busy, sometimes it is hard to keep up with everything. And everyone."

"Well, you certainly succeeded, and I really appreciate it." Sarah replied. "You're right, it's important to make time for things like this, and for good friends, so I'm glad we're able to do it." She took a sip of her drink before turning to better face her friend. "So how've you been, Yvette? Other than busy, of course, hehe."

"Juggling the school and X-Corps and the team is keeping me very busy, yes," Yvette agreed. "And the work is so interesting, sometimes it is too easy to get lost in it. Which is why we take turns throwing each other out of the office." She chuckled. "And Fred comes to drag me away sometimes, also."

"Ooh, Fred!" Sarah reached across the table to grab Yvette's hand, squeezing it a little. "You've got to fill me in on what's going on there! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!" If she couldn't physically be with her own significant other she could live vicariously through her friend's relationship, couldn't she?

Yvette managed to not instinctively snatch her hand away, even though she was wearing gloves and her powers were at their most relaxed due to their evening out. Her smile was a little goofy. "Well, I could not say anything earlier, because I did not know what was going on. We have fun and like each other." She shrugged a little. "That is the most either of us can manage to agree on, since there is the awkward every time we talk about more."

Sarah often forgot about touching Yvette, but after that quick pat she withdrew her hand back to her side of the table. "That's the main thing, totally, and I'm so glad to hear about it, Yvette! The having fun and liking each other, I mean, not the awkward talking part." That was a part of relationships, however, as Sarah had discovered herself at times with Layla, especially at the beginning of theirs. "It's worth talking about, though, but there's no rush, just enjoy yourself. At least that's what I think, not that I'm an expert or anything, heh."

"It is strange. When I was younger, I thought that you met the boy, you kissed and it was happily ever after. But instead, you meet the boy, you be all awkward about thinking he is nice for many months, then you kiss and decide that you like him and go on dates and such." Yvette shook her head at her own romantic notions. "I think this is better. I am not ready for 'ever after' just yet, and there is much I want to do before I settle down. Besides, I think Fred would have the heart attack at the thought. Going along for the ride is much less stressful and more fun. Even for me, who always has the plan for everything."

Sarah managed not to correct her friend by adding 'or girl!' to her scenario, smiling and nodding as her friend explained her situation. "It sounds like you both are happy with where things are for now, and that's great, Yvette. No need to worry about settling down or anything yet." They'd all have time for that later on in life, but for now it was important to enjoy life while they were young. Or so Sarah liked to think, anyway. "'Sides, you can, like... plan to make plans later, maybe, if you want. That's kinda like planning, right?"

"It is." Yvette sipped at her drink and cocked her head at Sarah. "And you, how are the things going for you? It must be hard, with Layla away for such the long time."

"It is, yeah, but it's going as well as it can, I suppose." Sarah replied with a small smile. It was difficult being apart from Layla, it was true, but with school and work taking up so much of her time she was simply too busy to spend her time moping and pining for her girlfriend. "Being busy helps, and I'm really liking both school and work, so that's something, right?"

"You are still working with the X-Factor group, yes?"

"Mmmhmm, I am. I really like it there, Yvette, it's... I dunno, hard to explain. It suits me, I guess." Sarah had been liking it more than she'd first thought, and even though she was still going to follow through with college it had opened her eyes to potential future employment possibilities.

"That is good - it is difficult to find something you like to do as the job. And I have no chance of luring you to X-Corps?" Yvette asked, a teasing note entering her voice.

"Hey, never say never, right?" Sarah grinned at her friend. She was quite happy where she was for the moment, but if there was one thing she'd learned from her time at Xavier's it was that just about anything could happen. "Don't worry, no matter what you'll never get rid of me that easily." She smirked at that, checking her watch for the time until their movie started.

"Then I shall keep trying. We always need more minions," was Yvette's amused response. "We should go soon, yes? I would not want you to be late for your birthday movie."

"Yes, minions are a good thing." Sarah replied with a chuckle and a thought of Wade. "And yeah, that's not a bad idea, Yvette. Thanks again for taking me out, I really do appreciate it."

"You are the birthday girl. You deserve a night out," was Yvette's smiling reply.
