Sarah introduces Angel to the wonderful world of digitized explosions Call of Duty.

"SIC 'EM RILEY!" Sarah yelled out. She was sitting in the rec room, playing her latest acquisition, Call of Duty: Ghosts, which she'd saved up for and pre-ordered ages ago. Yes, Christmas was coming, but she had been waiting for this for a long time and that was that. Thanks to her pre-order, she was also wearing the ghost mask that came with it, pulled up so she could see the tv of course.

Angel was on her way past the rec room, popsicle sticking out of her mouth as she walked along, textbook propped open in her right hand. At the sound of Sarah's yells she looked up, tilting her head, and stepped off her path to peek into the room...

Just in time to see something blow up on screen.

"Mmmfm!" She made a muffled sound of surprise and intrigue around the popsicle.

Sarah turned to see where the noise had come from, pausing the game as she did so. She smiled when she saw who it was and waved at Angel.

"Hey there, how are you doing?" It was only after she asked that she realized the other girl had a popsicle in her mouth, whoops.

Angel closed the book and pulled the popsicle out of her mouth, grinning. "Pretty good, how're you? What're you playing?" She saw explosions, she wanted to know more.

"CoD: Ghosts! Come, join me!" Sarah reached out and patted the spot next to her on the couch. There was another controller there too, though she was currently making her way through the single player campaign. "It's pretty cool so far, I'm digging it."

"Can I blow things up too?" Angel asked excitedly as she ditched her textbook in favor of hopping over the back of the couch to sit with Sarah.

"Oh yeah, totes! Do you want to play some multiplayer or just the single player game?" Sarah had been playing for a fairly long time and she'd be more than willing to relinquish control to Angel while she took a break, if that's what the other girl preferred. "Oh oh oh, first though, look at this, you get a DOG. How awesome is that?" She unpaused the game to show her Riley, the protagonist's faithful companion.

"Puppy!" Angel piped. "Ummm...let's play multiplayer, since I have no clue what I'm doing. I'd probably mess up your entire game. Can we still get dogs in multiplayer though?"

"Nuh-uh, I mean, yeah, puppy, but more like vicious killing maching, rawr!" Sarah thought for a second. "Ok, and a puppy too, he's just that good." She chuckled, then tossed Angel the second controller. "You know what, I'm not sure, huh. I haven't played much multiplayer yet, I want to finish the campaign first since that unlocks some stuff, including a cool co-op mode."

"Puppy," Angel said stubbornly as she caught the controller, examining it with a grin. "If you wanna keep playing like you are now I can just watch. I just saw something go boom. I wanted to know more. Don't let me interrupt your game though."

"Hey, no interrupting, promise. 'Sides, it's more fun to play with others." She exited the single player campaign, saving her game before doing so of course, then selected the multiplayer option. "Let's see, which one of these would be the best..." Scrolling through the options Sarah picked one that sounded like it might work. "Ok, let's give it a shot... wait, you know the controls, right?" She really should've thought of that before, oops.

"Okay!" Angel bounced excitedly as she quickly finished off the last of her popsicle. "Oh. Controls. Um...I'll figure it out, how hard can it be?"

"Exactly, it's a piece of cake!" said the girl who could control her character without a controller at all thanks to her powers. "Really, as long as you know how to move and how to shoot that's all you really need." There were a bunch of other options too, of course, but to Sarah those were the basics.

Okay well moving was easy, moving was just the stick, even Angel knew that. And shooting she assumed was one of the buttons. She'd figure it out. "Great, let's do this!"

"WOO! YEAH!" Sarah yelled, perhaps a tad too enthusiastically. "Aw yeah, we got this." She moved her avatar on the screen, whipping out a huge assault rifle and hitting the button to make sure it was fully loaded. "You go that way and I'll cover you, go go go go!" It's entirely possible Sarah got a little too invested in her video games.

"Here we gooooooooooo!" Angel yelled as the little man on screen took off. "Oh wait, no no no, don't shoot me, aaaahhhh!" She began button mashing, hoping to find the right one that would keep her from getting killed.

"Ahh! No, you can duck, push in on this!" She held up her controller as she continued to mash her own buttons, trying to indicated to Angel which button she had to push. "Oh, oh, and you have grenades too, just push that one!" Sarah pointed to another button for a second then pushed some others to make her character jump up and grab a ledge, pulling himself up into cover.

"Ah, okay, duck duck duck!" As if screeching at the screen would help. But she hit the right control, and her little man ducked. Wait, what was grenade again? She mashed a bunch of a buttons and somehow managed to pull one. Okay, yay. Wait. "Throw it, throw it, throw it!" She yelled, button mashing again.

"You gotta aim, the little thing shows you where it's gonna g- AHHH NO WAIT!" The grenade flew out of Angel's character's hands and arced perfectly behind the crates where Sarah's toon was taking cover. Before she could hop back out of there the grenade went off, blowing her avatar to pieces. "Aw, man, fraaaaaaaaaagged." It wasn't the end of the world, she just respawned back at their base, and she started running back to where Angel was. "Good shot though, heh."

"Oh, sorry!" Angel squealed as she watched Sarah's guy blow up. The explosion was super fun to watch though. "You wanna blow my guy up for revenge?"

"I've got a better idea, throw one over there!" She pointed to a large motor vehicle just ahead of them. "Wait, I'll get that dude first..." Sarah had her character whip out a sniper rifle and picked off the one bad guy guarding the car. "Ok, you can get closer now, but not too close unless you wanna go bye-bye too, heh."

"I do not want to go byebye," Angel agreed as she tried to repeat her button mashing from earlier -- with a little more accuracy this time though. "There it goes!" She said happily as the grenade flew away from her. "Oh wait!" She quickly scrambled away before the explosion could get her too.

"Good one, that'll do it, watch!" She pointed at the screen as if Angel couldn't possibly guess where the big explosion was going to happen, another bad habit of hers. "That's a fuel truck too, just watch, it'll-" She stopped when a loud BOOM came from the tv's speakers and a huge explosion filled the screen. "OH DAMN YEAH."

"Aaaaahhhhh!" Angel yelled joyfully, falling over, grinning widely as she watched the explosion. "Ohmygod that was aaaaaawesome!" She was giggling as she lifted herself up again to actually keep playing.

"I know right?!" She raised her hand for Angel to give her a high five, because clearly that was called for after such an epic blast. "There's a ton more stuff you can blow up too, come on, I'll show you where to go!"

"Woo!" Angel happily met her high five, grinning. "We're off to blow up more stuff, let's go!" She was pretty sure there was more to the game then explosions. But ask her if she cared.
