Blessed Are The Pure Of Heart - Cavalry
Dec. 16th, 2013 11:00 pmThere's always a back-up plan.
Separating from Sue may or may not have been the best idea, but those weren't exactly something Topaz was known for anyways. And she'd wanted to see how bad off the rest of the mansion was. She couldn't imagine the place was exactly built for demon invasions, after all.
Although it wouldn't surprise her if it were.
"Topaz?" The voice belonged to the tall, scholarly looking man who had taught their magic class earlier that day. Doctor Strange. "I've been looking for you."
The young witch jumped a bit, whirling around to look at the man. "Doctor Strange. Hi. What?" It took her a moment to connect what the man had said. "Me? What for?"
Strange looked somewhat uncomfortable. Topaz was young, as young as Amanda had been when she'd been called to do far too much, and he didn't want to expose her to the same risks. Not with what she'd already been through. "I need your, ah, help," he managed. "Magical help. You and Billy both."
"Okay." There was, surprisingly, no hesitation in Topaz's response. She could sense Strange's discomfort with the situation, and she wasn't going to add to it.
Besides, adults didn't generally ask the students for help. It must have been important.
"What do you need me to do?"
He smiled a little despite himself. So much like her mentor. "We are, apparently, the cavalry. Or, to be more precise, we will be sending the cavalry." At her confused expression, he sobered. "I need your help to open a portal into the demon dimension your recent visitors came from. Amanda left very detailed instructions."
Topaz nodded slowly. She'd never opened a portal before, or helped with it, but apparently tonight was a night for trying new things.
"Right then. Lead the way."
