Matt pays Hope a visit in the Medlab.
A few days after he had hurt his hands, Matt headed down to the Medlab to get them checked to see how things were healing. He had been carefully changing the bandages twice a day as instructed and was taking his antibiotics diligently. The horse pills weren't fun, but they were effective since he thought the wounds were healing.
The appointment with Doc Cecilia didn't take long, she just unwrapped the bandages, checked everything and then slathered them with more antibiotic ointment before wrapping them back up again. Thankfully, he still could use his fingers for the most part, the majority of injury was to his palms. Once he was done, ,he headed over to Hope's room to check on her.
Knocking carefully on the door frame, he leaned against the doorway casually, "Up for visitors?" he asked. Her heartbeat and respiration indicated that she wasn't asleep, though he might be interrupting. Or maybe she didn't want visitors at all?
Hope pulled out the ear pieces she had been using to listen to her favorite music. "No, come on in. It's just... my throat is still pretty sore."
"I heard you tried to grow gills by force of will," Matt agreed, coming in and finding a seat at the end of her bed and patted her leg, "Glad you're doing okay," his fingers peaked out of the bandages enough that he could use them to touch, but not much more.
"I seem to remember it more being a rock then it being me though." Hope kidded, then reached over to grab a glass of water.
"Bad rock," Matt agreed, "I'm sure it violated at least 10 different etiquette rules in the process," he joked. "When do you get to go back upstairs?"
"I am not completely sure, to be honest." Hope replied after sipping from the water. "I think tomorrow or the day after maybe. I think Dr. Grey is being careful though."
That made sense, though it wasn't like Hope was going very far, "Better safe than sorry," Matt agreed, "You want me to get you anything?"
"I think I have most things I need... since I have been sleeping quite a bit. Though..." Hope doubted for a moment, but then simply asked hesitantly: "Do you happen to have to go in town today or tomorrow?"
"I can, sure," Matt agreed, "I've got to go to campus. What do you need?" Finals. Ugh. Could he claim an extension for his hurt hands?
"There is a book just out..." A faint blush covered Hope's face and she suddenly she stifled a small giggle at the idea of Matt buying that book. "I was wondering if you would be willing to swing by the book store and pick it up for me. I don't have my laptop and ordering on my phone always seems to be troublesome."
"Of course," Matt replied immediately, that was a job he would love to do actually, he liked bookstores. "Just email me the information. I can do it
Tuesday after my exam. Or do you need it sooner?"
"I can do that, though the title is quite easy to remember." Hope coughed a little and reached over to take another sip. "It's The One by Kiera Cass. And tomorrow is more then soon enough. I think it just came out today actually, depending on what the date is."
"It's Sunday now," Matt replied. Books came out on Tuesdays. "Time flies down here, huh? No windows or anything..."
"The fourth right?" At his nod, Hope frowned. "Then it is actually Tuesday before it does come out. It's release date was the sixth... Sorry Matt, I must indeed have lost track of the time here."
"That's okay," it was easy to do. "I'll still get it for you so you can rest and get better. And enjoy the book. Maybe go sit in the sunny spot or something, that's always good," Matt was fond of the sunny spot.
"That sounds very tempting indeed. I hope the weather will be nice enough soon, so we all can spend some time outside without covering ourselves with many layers." Hope stifled quickly stifled a small yawn. "Sorry about that."
Patting her leg again, Matt got up, "You nap. I'm....going to go see about studying for finals with my hands mummified," he grinned, "Feel better. Nap."
"I don't want to kick you out." Hope protested, though the effect was rather lost when another yawn escaped. "I feel like I have been doing nothing else but sleep." She muttered.
"That's called 'healing,'" Matt teased, "Go. I'm not upset. Feel better."
